Oops...my bad. I thought it was around 25 hours. I see where ya said now it was 35...give or take..
I was able to beat the game in 24 hours, which I didn't feel like was a blistering pace but it was on Moderate difficulty so I kind of powered through it. I definitely plan on playing New Game+ with much higher difficulty and getting all of the achievements sometime later this year, and I'm sure it will take me 35 hours or more to accomplish that.

With that said, there is no "right" pace to play the game! Take as long as you need to because you only get to experience this game with brand new eyes once and only once. If there were a possibility to re-live that week where I binged through the game, I would take that opportunity.

I usually play about 3-4 hours at a time. Every few days. Usually explore the first play through...then collect the second time through.

Totally agree with this which is why I play about 1hr or so every time. Usually more on a weekend if I have time. I like to explore everything and see if I can find alternative paths, etc. It's only aw inspiring the first time you go through so it's good to savour.

Despite the overall linearity of the game, a lot of the combat areas are pretty big, but I found myself only discovering that after the encounters had ended as I was searching for crafting materials. Most of the combat areas in the first game were much smaller. They had multiple ways to move through but not on the same scale as in TLOU2. I'm pretty sure that the combat encounters on my extra playthroughs of the first game all went almost exactly the same. I think that any additional playthroughs of 2 won't feel quite as samey now that I know how big and/or open some of the arenas are.

I find that in part 2 if I want to scavenge an area I do have to get rid of the enemies first. It's a trade off I kind of argue with myself. Enemies are a bit smarter in part 2 so sometimes I don't want to deal with all of them and will feel like sneaking.

At the same time if I sneak, I also give up on scavenging and exploring the area...which I hate doing because in this game each area is different from the last in a way. Leaves me room to try different things on a second play through when ps5 is out.

I finished the game two days ago. I logged in at 33 hours / 56 minutes....based on the save file. I am already 4 hours in on my second playthough.

Again, I totally agree with Purebeasts opinion....I absolutely love the game. It gets a 9.5/10 from me. The only part that got a little irritating, was the "Rat King" lol
Ended up killing him on my 13th time.

So Grounded and Permadeath modes got added to the game in a patch. Anyone going to swing for the fences?

Probably not. I completed the game on normal. There are plenty of encounters that I could probably take on hard without much trouble, so I'll probably eventually do a NG+ on hard. But there were also some seemingly random difficulty spikes, usually when dealing with clickers and other infected, that I will probably find even more frustrating than they were before. I can't imagine another level of difficulty or permadeath. Taking away some of the assists I can handle no problem. Stronger/deadlier enemies not so much.

I put myself through Uncharted 1 and 2 on crushing difficulty back when they launched, but I don't know exactly how I managed back then because I really struggled with a few encounters on normal when I went back through them in the collection on PS4. First LOU I think I only completed on normal and I never tried anything harder on PS3 or PS4 because I felt the difficulty was never consistent enough.

Game difficulty is a funny thing. I was perfectly happy to bash my head against the wall trying to get through ultra nightmare in Doom 2016, but the mechanics in it clicked so perfectly and difficulty progression was generally so smooth I only gave up when I realized how much time I was spending on it. I think difficulty in Naughty Dog games isn't polished enough for me to want to try, but I'll probably watch somebody else do it just to see.

Is this game getting an upgrade for the PS5 as I have not seen any info on that last time I checked?

I beat this game a few days ago .. loved it. Even my GF got invested in the story though she didn’t watch the whole thing. I avoided this thread and didn’t read any reviews or learn anything about the game so had no idea people didn’t like it. Just proves that game reviews are a waste of bandwidth.

Can’t remember if there were any opportunities to do this in the first, but starting fights between enemy humans and zombie hordes was the best. I spent the extra effort to release them from chains in the ending sequence .. hilarious to sneak and free clickers and then throw a brick near some unsuspecting enemy. The part where you dive into the spores with the hostage was excellent too

I think I'm finally close to the end of this game. What a journey so far. I took long breaks in between playing so I'll want to replay it whenever I can get a ps5.

I remember I thought I was close to the end of the game then realized I was at the halfway point lol.

I'm at 30hrs and 20 min according to my most recent save file. I think I'm almost at the end but I do hope they do an enhanced ps5 version so I can replay it without taking weeks long breaks in between.

I finished this last night. At some point during Abby's part of the story I got side tracked with other things and ended up taking a break from the game. I started to play again a couple of nights ago and damn that was a good game. So sad this game was.

I'll read the rest of the thread later but one thing that's a little strange is that the default Continue is apparently not the last save that's been made but the last autosave. Got caught by this when I realized I didn't have the holster and had to go back for it.

So are they going to do a 60 fps patch for PS5 or are they going to double dip like with Spiderman?

Don't think there will be any story dlc. I haven't finished the game yet but the way it goes, doesn't seem to be much in terms of additional content.

I'm playing it on ps5 and it's very smooth. Perhaps they will enhance it at some point with ray tracing.

The game is over according to the dev team. there are no plans to make any more. That is what i read on the web. Not sure if it is true just something I read.

I'm at the beginning of Abby's story. That could have been DLC. Consider it a bonus that it's part of the base game.

Abby's Story starts to drag a bit but picks up when you meet the kids.

I think so far I've only snuck out of one level without actually killing everyone. I'm at like 18 hours or so.

How's this for a bug... Bloater gas killed me but since it died first I still got the checkpoint.

Finished it... talked about an unfulfilling ending.

I was going to try the permadeath mode just to see what happens but it takes a bit to get to a point where you are under attack. Did find a youtube video of someone failing
