Holy SHIT, did I seriously just watch both the men's and women's 4x100 teams drop the fucking baton, while running around the damn track with their country name written in crayon or something? Jesus.

There's no way to even qualify this, USA track and field is simply retarded. I ran track for four years in high school and saw one team drop the baton once in about 40 meets. It's a goddamned stick that's perfectly sized to fit into a human hand. Unbelievably stupid.

Yeah and all your high school buddies were running the 100ms in and around 10s too I guess.

I'll tell you what, retard, I'd prefer to come in in around 12 seconds than get disqualified and not even finish the goddamn race.

Your the one who thinks he knows what it must be like to play at the Olympics because of some track games back in high school and I'm the retard?! 😕

Ok... and now the US vs Russia mens volleyball match is starting for us here on the west coast....

wtf... they just started showing it here and its 22-20 in the first set??

Canada's now at 16 medals with a gold or silver in tae kwon do coming up. We might reach 20. Not bad for a country that was blanked in the first 8 days of competition. 🙂

guaranteed at least a silver for both mens and womens volleyball, and already securing gold in both mens and womens beach volleyball, its been a pretty impressive run for American volleyball in general...

Thats what I was thinking....I don't ever remember the US being so good in volleyball! That would be awesome if we could sweep!

On another note..."Here in Beijing, organizers have realized that such prohibitions [on not having sex] are about as useful as banning breathing and have, instead, handed out thousands of free condoms to the athletes. If you can't stop 'em, at least make it safe."
Sex and the Olympic City

What else are the athletes supposed to do once they are done with their events? 😀

US mens water polo team beats Serbia 10-5...

can't remember the last time so many of our teams were doing so well in so many different team sports...

damn, Bryan Clay is destroying in the decathlon...with him and the 4x400m relay looks like US track and field might be able to end on a positive note

IOC ends investigation, no proof she is underage.
maybe I just didn't see it, but I saw nothing that said the investigation was over, they were just talking that they didn't think anything would come of it. The international gymnastics committee is doing the investigation now.

You're talking to the resident lead US hater, he'll stop at nothing to drag that avatar of his threw the mud.

"China coach Lu Shanzan said the parents are ?indignant? over persistent questions about their daughters? ages.

?It?s not just me. The parents of our athletes are all very indignant,? Lu said. ?They have faced groundless suspicion. Why aren?t they believed? Why are their children suspected? Their parents are very angry.?

Cause you are friggin lieing

Koko Tsurumi is the youngest member of the Japanese gymnastics team and is reported to be 15. That is arguable, but she does look older than all but one of the Chinese gymnasts.

So how many more gold medals are we about to win?

Probably quite a few...Women's all around, plus several of the individual events..... Sounds like the IOC is tired of hearing all of the rumors and wants the ruling body (International Gymnastics Federation) to investigate. This sounds familiar to past Olympic doping scandals....(that have been strangely absent from these games).

plus the team event, but nothing will be done. I seriously doubt anything comes of this, at most we will hear "it was investegated but no absolute proof was found".

is 2, team and uneven. no chance getting sacramone the vault bronze cuz the chinese girl there is old. already gotten gold in beam and all-around and floor has no medal for china.

but seriously, epoch times? hax0rz??

That would mean that Nastia Liukin would get a total of 3 gold metals which would cement her even more as the greatest American gymnast.

I believe two teams would also getting a medal (or different medal) as well as several more athletes from various contries.

Getting this to happen after the fact after someone ones is a huge deal though, and very difficult to make happen. If only the FIG had done the right thing when the evidence was pointed out them before the competition.

If the Chinese gymnasts lose their medals it also unfairly penalizes the girls that contributed to the team medal who weren't even underage. They did nothing wrong. Very sad.

Remember how Marion Jones lost her medals, oh...about 6 months ago?

it happens, and well after the fact.

There's a big difference between doping and this. A failed doping test is black-and-white, and testing is generally conducted by non-government labs. In contrast, the Chinese government controls any documentation that might exist that the FIG would accept as evidence that the girls are underage.

I just can't imagine this actually happening after the fact. IOC says there is "new documentation." But to me it just looks like the IOC feels the need to do something due to the negative publicity that just seems to keep increasing and shows no signs of going away. The "hacker" security dude came up with more rosters but a previous roster had already been found on a different government (.gov.cn) site which was ignored by FIG.

Basically all the IOC is trying to do is save face.

FIG had all the evidence they should have needed to deny the underage Chinese girls from competing well before the competition. But they pretending like there was nothing to investigate, almost like the Chinese were playing Jedi mind-tricks on them

Chinese official: Here are their passports.

FIG official: Do you have any supporting documentation?

CHN: (waves hand) You don't need to see any supporting documentation.

FIG: I don't need to see any supporting documentation.

CHN: These aren't the underage girls you're looking for.

FIG: These aren't the underage girls we're looking for.

CHN: We can move along.

FIG: Move along. (waves hand) Move long!

Wow, 1904.

I've been reading a bit about the history of the Olympics over the last couple of weeks. The Olympics weren't immediately as popular as they are now. A lot of the earlier ones were more like sideshows to the World Fair. They were held in St. Louis in 1904, and no one wanted to come. Most of the events ONLY had American competitors. Something like 80-90% of the competitors were Americans.
