So how many more gold medals are we about to win?
Probably quite a few...Women's all around, plus several of the individual events..... Sounds like the IOC is tired of hearing all of the rumors and wants the ruling body (International Gymnastics Federation) to investigate. This sounds familiar to past Olympic doping scandals....(that have been strangely absent from these games).
plus the team event, but nothing will be done. I seriously doubt anything comes of this, at most we will hear "it was investegated but no absolute proof was found".
is 2, team and uneven. no chance getting sacramone the vault bronze cuz the chinese girl there is old. already gotten gold in beam and all-around and floor has no medal for china.
but seriously, epoch times? hax0rz??
That would mean that Nastia Liukin would get a total of 3 gold metals which would cement her even more as the greatest American gymnast.
I believe two teams would also getting a medal (or different medal) as well as several more athletes from various contries.
Getting this to happen after the fact after someone ones is a huge deal though, and very difficult to make happen. If only the FIG had done the right thing when the evidence was pointed out them before the competition.
If the Chinese gymnasts lose their medals it also unfairly penalizes the girls that contributed to the team medal who weren't even underage. They did nothing wrong. Very sad.
Remember how Marion Jones lost her medals, oh...about 6 months ago?
it happens, and well after the fact.
There's a big difference between doping and this. A failed doping test is black-and-white, and testing is generally conducted by non-government labs. In contrast, the Chinese government controls any documentation that might exist that the FIG would accept as evidence that the girls are underage.
I just can't imagine this actually happening after the fact. IOC says there is "new documentation." But to me it just looks like the IOC feels the need to do
something due to the negative publicity that just seems to keep increasing and shows no signs of going away. The "hacker" security dude came up with more rosters but a previous roster had already been found on a different government (.gov.cn) site which was ignored by FIG.
Basically all the IOC is trying to do is save face.
FIG had all the evidence they should have needed to deny the underage Chinese girls from competing well before the competition. But they pretending like there was nothing to investigate, almost like the Chinese were playing Jedi mind-tricks on them
Chinese official: Here are their passports.
FIG official: Do you have any supporting documentation?
CHN: (waves hand) You don't need to see any supporting documentation.
FIG: I don't need to see any supporting documentation.
CHN: These aren't the underage girls you're looking for.
FIG: These aren't the underage girls we're looking for.
CHN: We can move along.
FIG: Move along. (waves hand) Move long!
