I want to get this game, but I'm not sure how much better than the original Sims it is. :)

I think that it's a definite improvment. You get days off, it's easier to make friends, and your people have ambitions. One time my guy's ambition for the day was to eat a toaster pastry. :p

Hahahahaha!! Your guy has big ambitions! ;):p:D

I like that you have days off. That was something I didn't like about the set up of the old version. It seemed pointless to have the ability to make friends, if you couldn't take time off to make them.

Are there more job options? If I remember correctly, there weren't that many in the original version. I'm not talking about the game with all the add-on packs. I'm talking about the original version. I always wanted there to be more cool jobs to choose from. :)

I think that there are 8.

The problem is that my dude is in love. Now he wants to talk to his girlfriends. He needs to focus on toaster pastries.

Yeah! Girls will only get him in trouble. He should have at leats 5 girls at any moment that he is "in love" with. Toaster Pastries are obviously more important! :p

I'm glad that someone understands. ;)

One thing that's annoying is sometimes when you're at work, it will ask you to pick between two options that usually don't make sense. If you pick the wrong one, you end up losing lots of skill points or getting demoted.

The questions are like:

asdf0978120- or udaskjd^#@)haSF?

Pick the wrong one and you've wasted lots of skill building time.

What is the point in that? You really have no way of knowing which one to pick. If it's going to ask you questions it should ask you one that at least makes sense, so that there is a way to know the right answer, especailly if there is going to be such a high consequence of choosing the "wrong" one.

I had this problem, a sim got her first job as a lab rat and one of these questions were something realy stupid but in the end I had to pick red, blue or do nothing, I picked red and lost the job. My sim didnt want to look for work for days after that.

Ctrl-Shift-C works for me - if you can bring it up, I think it's

kaching - 1000 simoleans
motherlode - 50000 simoleons
aging on
aging off

Motherlode definitely works, however I turned aging off and my sims days are still ticking down. :Q

same here.

I appreciate that Maxis kept the cheat prompt in (you can also type in help for a brief list of commands).

most of the enjoyment I get from playing The Sims is building pimp houses and designing new items. I rarely go into live mode -- if anything, I'll hit play, go to work, and see what happened while I was away.

Yeah, I have more fun watching them interact and trying out the items than having them work. :p

Okay, here's some serious food for thought. So with version "2" you can have gay/lesbian relationships. How far will it go? By version "3" will people be able to have a relationship with their dog? By version "4", will adults be able to have relationships with children?

Just for far will it go? Just how much will it mimic society? Will lines be drawn?

I doubt it will go past the gay and lesbian relationships. Beastiality and pedophilia aren't acceptable in society and they probably never will be. Homosexuality is acceptable in the game, and I like that it is included.

Homosexuality wasn't "acceptable" 50 years ago! Who knows that "Sims X" will look like in the year 2075! Right or wrong, the "lines" in society are constantly in flux!
