True! I just don't think either of those will ever be acceptable. They might, and more than likely games like The Sims will reflect that change in thinking. I just don't see it happening in our lifetime or that of our children.

there are a lot of gay players. it's simple marketing.

I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if I was forced to confine my sims in heterosexual relationships.

Okay, here's some serious food for thought. So with version "2" you can have gay/lesbian relationships. How far will it go? By version "3" will people be able to have a relationship with their dog? By version "4", will adults be able to have relationships with children?

Just for far will it go? Just how much will it mimic society? Will lines be drawn?
I doubt it will go past the gay and lesbian relationships. Beastiality and pedophilia aren't acceptable in society and they probably never will be. Homosexuality is acceptable in the game, and I like that it is included.

whats your point then?
If the behavior becomes acceptable in society, then they can have it in the game as well.

I still cannot get the cheat to work. Whenever I hit CTRL-SHIFT-C, either nothing happens or it takes a screenshot and thats it. Is there some specific place I need to be using the cheat? Could it have something to do with my keyboard (Logitech Wireless MX)? I'd really like to set up a sweet bachelor pad rather than having to sweat it out in some little house for hours till I can marry into money.

Possible stupid question, but you are doing it while in live mode, right?

Well, homosexuality is between two adult and therefor "an equal" relationship, Beastiality and pedophilia aren't.

How much RAM is needed for this game. 512 or 1GB? I read somewhere that the game can take a lot of system memory.

Maxis has released information on the system requirements for "The Sims 2." If you have a T&L (info about what T&L is below) capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM (such as nvidia GeForce 2 or better or ATI Radeon 7000 or better) then you need at least:
  • 800 MHz processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP
128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 gigs of free hard drive space

If you have a non-T&L capable video card (such as TNT2, Intel, or Rage for example) then you need at least:
  • 2.0 GHz processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP
128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 gigs of free hard drive space

Recommened video cards (and the more video memory the better):
  • ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    Nvidia Geforce 4

Visit "The Sims 2" official website for a more detailed list.
You can also download the system requirements test from ServoPro to see if your computer is ready for "The Sims 2."

Someone gave me the answer to my problems with the cheat, apparently theres an issue with Cursor XP. Uninstalling it fixed the problem.

I love cheating in video games. It makes them so much more challenging and fun.

My gf bought this game yesterday and I installed it on her PC for her... One thing I HATE about this game:

She had CloneCD on her PC, and Sims 2 detected it and wouldn't run as long as CloneCD's on there... we had to uninstall CloneCD before the game would run (complained about "CD/DVD emulator found")...

I understand companies want to prevent their games from being copied, but that's just going too far...

I looked at EA's FAQ and they said you have to uninstall CloneCD, Ahead and Roxio software before the game would run... if the game still didn't run after we uninstalled CloneCD yesterday, we would've tried to refund the game... no way am I uninstalling Nero (how would she burn CD afterwards?)

Luckily Sims 2 didn't detect Nero and it ran fine after CloneCD was gone...

I love people who try to be sarcastic but completely suck at it.

Whats your friggin point? Is using the cheat to get a bigger house much different than, say, playing as one of the Goth family members? Its not like the game is 'winnable' in any traditional sense.

New daemon tools works fine, I'm using it to run the 'no-cd' mini-iso.

I didn't have to uninstall the latest version of Alcohol 120% either.

I really never played the first sims and I'm trying to play this one.... how do you make friends. It is really irritating. Both people in the house work so there isn't much time to have people over and such. Is there any easy way to make friends?
