Are you getting this coverage almost everywhere or only at certain locations?

I was on Tmobile for years until I went to Sprint for the Epic. My friend who works for tmobile and has a Nexus 1 gets spotty data dropping to GPRS/EDGE to 3g back and forth.

My 4G gets up to 12mbs but its pretty limited and my 3G is like 0.8mbs.

Anyone put the screen protector from tmo on? Im debating whether to get it. Also read we have gorilla glass, but doubt its true else they would've addressed it

Not sure but I only figured out that my epic had gorilla glass after someone mentioned it I never saw it in any spec sheet.if it does don't bother with a protector. My epic is perfect even after some mishaps lol

Where's this quake benchmark?

1.3 to ~5 Mbps in downtown Tulsa. Usually stays around 1.5. Pretty crap but hopefully this will improve in the near future.

The phone itself is great for me. Snappy as hell. The hinge "issue" isn't an issue for me at all. I think it would irritate me if the hinge was stiffened up. It doesn't fall shut even when I'm on the bed holding it upside down, I guess it's the way I happen to hold it. Hopefully it doesn't become much more loose though as I could see that becoming a problem. Right now it's perfect though.

It's heavier and breakable and short on battery mass because you're making concessions for the keyboard. The keyboard is a major feature on this phone, one that takes precedence over other specs if need be. People shouldn't forget that. I wouldn't have cared if it had been a bit bulkier because of a bigger battery though. I'll note that the keyboard annoys me a little because you have to lock in the alt key (double tap) to keep the number keys live, this would be fine if you didn't lose your space bar function and the period '.' key. The asdw keys are too offset on this keyboard imo but other than those two things it's a good keyboard for banging out big pieces of text.

It's annoying that I cannot uninstall things like the photobucket app but I'm very happy having finally replaced my G1 with this set.

If I had, I'd return it to T-Mobile and be very 'vocal' about it when I did. I swear, if I can't find a viable replacement for my Droid 1 before it falls apart, I'll switch to the cheapest paygo phone with a QWERTY keyboard.

ChrisSoyars, P3Droid, and Cyanogen have been sending out interesting tweets about it, claiming they are close to getting full ROM access. I'd still return the phone to T Mobile until its been opened up though. Carriers and manufacturers need to know that this behavior is unacceptable, only way to do that is to hit their bottom line.

Ironic, that such a small subset causes carriers and manufactures to spend millions of dollars trying to stop it. Often, its a complete waste.

The irony is that the G2 is the replacement to the ultimate rooting phone. Now they want to kill off the community that made Android what it is???

Hence some of the anger in the old time devs right now. Cyanogen and Soyars were irate in their tweets at T-Mobile.
 
I must have missed Cyanogen's tweets on that. I always read his, Wes, and Eugene's first in hopes of good news about my Vibrant.

If the G2 is having issues too...then what? Wait for the myTouch HD and hope they don't lock that out?
 
I'm using the same sim card I got with a G1 back when. Surely this doesn't have anything to do with my crap 1.5mpbs constant data does it? Jeez =\
 
Anyone found any other cases aside from the body glove and the standard rubber/plastic/clear stuff?

I'm probably settling for the total body coverage from zagg for now since bse doesn't have their version yet.

I've been following this pretty close and it doesn't seem impossible. I don't understand the whole process but it sounds like they are basically trying to figure out the pieces. I snuck into their IRC channel last night and lurked. Pretty interesting stuff.
