How's general performance of the phone? I know they underclocked the phone to 800MHz. People are saying that it's for battery life. I'm sure it's too soon to tell how battery life is but is performance good on it?

Cyanogen himself is getting a G2. A couple of other XDA guys known for their kernels have their eyes on them as well. Give it a month and that sucker will be flying at 1.2 with a 2 day battery life.

Kingklick's kernel gave me my best benchmarks ever and my best battery life. I went a day and a half on a full charge. I don't think that's happened since I switched to Android.

That being said...I hate all of you that got this phone. I can't wait until the 6th so I can try and work some magic.

extremely responsive. im coming from a MT3G so im not used to this speed. phone runs flawlessly. nesoid and youtube are quick. changed my 10 yr old sim card which was always on edge; now getting high speed on hspa. going to run quadrant shortly. get this phone. it will not disappoint

Quadrant standard benchmark came back at 1500. Sweet. An amoled screen wouldve made this the perfect phone, but its great nonetheless.

My primary reason for wanting one. The top developers and modders all want it. :)

bah if this had a front facing cam i'd bite but, i'm pretty happy with my epic 4G since it really feels like a HTC G1 predecessor in my opinion.

More than likely 2 gig for storage and 2 gigs for apps/whatever.

My Vibrant only shows 13 instead of 16. Did they take the time to see what all partitions are there?

No, 2 gigs total. Check out the thread. My guess t-mobile and htc will change the specs from 4 to 2 gigs and delete any evidence of ever mentioning 4 gigs from their websites and publications.

I'm done with my XDA browsing for the night. I've already flashed my phone back to stock, installed Bionix 1.4 (you can thank me for the butter part) and flashed KK's new kernel. If I go back over there I won't get to bed before midnight.

That sucks about the memory but I don't see it being a deal breaker for anyone. 2 gigs is plenty since Froyo does A2SD. I've got 7 gigs of crap on my SD just because I got tired of seeing all that free space.

Talked to Tier 2 about this today. They are indicating it's a firmware issue, and an update will resolve the issue. They gave me no ETA on the update however.

It figures, the my.tmobile website says I'm eligible for discounted pricing, and the G2 has disappeared from the device list. It was there YESTERDAY, when I wasn't eligible.

Lol, it wouldn't show up in my available phones list then today it shows up for the $199 price even though I shouldn't be eligible. Needless to say, I ordered it :)

Methinks they mixed up the firmware between the G2 and the Desire Z? Doesn't the Z have 2GB total internal storage?

Looks like the folks at xda took it apart.....a firmware update should hopefully fix

It's showing me $309.99 upgrade price. I THINK I got switched to a 1yr contract when I converted from my old plan to my current EM+ plan. I opened my account October 15th.

LOL, ported 2 of my numbers away, called TMobile to port the last one & they talked me into a G2 for $150, a $29/month voice plan, messaging for $9/month & internet service for $20/month, and a 15% corporate discount on top of everything.

They said the UMA should be active soon with the next OTA update.
