I hated the eat gross crap segment, so no thanks.

they haven't had a car in a couple season, that's what the sprint fan money is for now.

It was a satisfying season. Everything played out the way it should. No outrages. Rob Mariano won. Russell was ousted on general principles early in the game. And Matt received all the recognition he deserved.

Rob deserved the win, Phil deserved 2nd place.

With that out of the way - the Producers built quite a bit of drama by cutting the footage as no one spoke of Rob having the idol - yet everyone knew he had it so he was not getting voted out. Interesting that those bastards left it out!

Redemption island twist sucked - I think it does a disservice to the jury members as they do not attend any of the tribal councils and have less insight on the tribe interactions. The 1st segment of Redemption island was OK - the 2nd piece was horrible!

Bringing back two players from previous seasons - NO! I want a fresh crop of 18 Survivors and watch them struggle and learn.

I want the reward challenges back!

I want Survivor auction back!

I want Survivor eat gross food back!

I was happy they did not do the Survivor memorial service where they gather the voted off and burn them. Was a worthless segment we FF through.

...

Yeah I've been wondering what happened to the "stuff your face with nasty crap" challenges. I suppose it deterred people from wanting to get on the show, and maybe was too much of a health risk.

I too noticed they omitted the "fallen comrade torch memorial hike" and I'm not sorry to see it go.

The separate reward challenges had to go in order to devote air time to Redemption Island action.

I could be misremembering but I don't recall a Survivor auction also.

Redemption Island really screws up the challenges in the actual game because most of them turn out to be for reward+immunity whereas its usually one for reward and one for immunity.

I hated the Redemption Island twist. It had no impact on the game whatsoever, and wasted air-time that should have been devoted to other things.

If they must do another Redemption Island, here's what I would like to see:

  • No tribal immunity at all, just individual immunity
  • Both tribes vote someone out every time.
  • The exiles go to RI for one night where they can discuss strategy if they wish.
  • Exiles duel the next day.
  • Winner returns to the game, and can choose which tribe to return to.

This way RI is short, sweet, and could have a major impact on the game. Anything less is just a waste of time.

I won't go into whether the isle was good or bad, but you are way underestimating the impact of it on the game. There's a reason why rob constantly mentioned how it was a PITA in trying to manage things.

Outside of perceived threat that Rob felt, at no point did the returning castaway have any impact on the game. They didn't get anyone else voted out, and they were not in the final three. It was a true waste of time (listening to Matt praise his god for fucking him over was beyond boring).

Using my rules above, there is no way anyone is throwing a challenge to get Russell out, else he could wind up on the opposing tribe and be even more of a post-merge threat.

Ultimately I just don't like the idea of giving a second chance, but I do understand the need to mix things up to keep the game fresh.

...... but I do understand the need to mix things up to keep the game fresh.

The Producers who pick the contestants and who create the challenges are the ones who keep things fresh.

I don't need gimmicks like the hidden idol which has become so predictable you don't even need a clue to find it.

who went and how they were treated upon return was cause of considerable effort on the tribes, no sure how that isn't any impact.

At least they dropped the cheesy Medallion of Power bit.
I laughed every time Probst mentioned it.
