damn i may have just completely missed it heh...

I don't know how you could've missed that! She didn't hold up the idol or anything like that, but it was pretty obvious that she found it. If it were just a clue, then why would she have just hid it in a bush somewhere? Also, I was able to see some of the wording on the paper, and saw that it was the general letter saying that she just found a hidden immunity idol. She even said that she was selfish and going to keep the idol for herself!

Maybe you were still celebrating Cinco De Mayo and had one (or 10) too many tequilas :p

In general I also don't think sandra would give it up, but we're either at or almost at the point where it's a use or lose situation with the immunity idol.

But with a 3v2 with 1 floater situation, sandra may very likely say screw it and play it for herself and let's see if I can win 1 challenge to get the the final day.

Russell is good...but I think Pavarti is a lot better after watching this season. Last night she should have made more of an effort to keep Danielle...but that has been her first mistake. Other than that, she's played flawlessly. Russell is a scrappy player...but he's been tripping over himself now that he's been outed as a trouble maker. I think he's going to have a hard time staying in the game over the next couple of weeks.

Probst blog is a 'must read' this week imo. He talks about how 2 back-to-back survivors has russell freaked out, and that this is the most intense survivor he's ever seen.

Parvati is worried too, but I don't think I've ever seen such a cool calculated manipulative and extremely graceful story telling when she tried to bust Russell. That girl has ice in her veins!

But as for Russell, I'm getting tired of people blaming the weak juries for not casting their votes his way. When he gets no or few jury votes, it's no ones fault but his. Parvati isn't as tightly controlling as Russell and as a result can't dominate the game like he can, but she will get votes because she's not personally nasty and has others' respect for her gameplay.

I don't care whether its a game or real life...if you spit on people to climb the ladder, it won't matter how good you are, you won't get props from them in any form imo. Russell likes to control the game, and he can control people, but that doesn't mean they appreciate or respect being controlled, muchless like being manipulated by lies. This is human nature.

I agree 100% with your assessment. People like Russell are never going to be liked in the game or in real life no matter how good they are at playing the initial part of the game (getting to the final 2-3). The hardest part of Survivor...and something that seems oblivious to Russell is that the same people you step on to get to the final three end up making the final decision on who wins...and I don't think people respect him at all in the end. The only way I see him winning is if he somehow got to the final 3 with Jerry and Sandra...I think he would lose to just about everyone else.

I think Russell's jealousy completely blinds him to the ultimate goal of the game. I don't think there is anyone on jury that would even consider voting form him, even if Jerry and Sandra are in the final 3 with him. At this point Russell has pretty much screwed himself over with all current and potential jury members.

Did you read Probst's blog linked below? I think Jeff is probably right, the psychological effects of two back to back survivors has got to be messing with Russell's head. Or...he's just such a controlling person that he's imploding. I have to agree that I think his chances of even staying in are slim, but he has a knack for pulling things off.

Parvati is top notch, no doubt. I guess I have a bias towards her because I have issues with women who manipulate people to that degree. I do find her immensely attractive though on all levels.

I've got my wife hooked on Survivor now. She dismissed the show as superficial or whatever. But now she's into it. There are so many facets to the game. Whoever dreamed it up is one sharp person IMO.

One more and the finale I guess?

Believe me...I have the same aversion to Parvati...but I think she is a very capable person. She quickly changed from her typical "flirt" role when she realized she no longer needed the guys in the game to move her forward. As Probst said in his blog, she would be really hard to live with/date/whatever...but if there was someone to have in foxhole..she would be the one. It certainly doesn't hurt that's cute.

I do agree with Jeff to some extent about the tole back to back survivor's has put on Russell...but even in the last Survivor, Russell stepped on people's toes as soon as he deemed them no longer necessary. That kind of attitude/behavior will only get you so far in life. It may get you to the top...but you'll never win the popularity contest.

A final three of sandr jerri russel, or even sub colby in, probably sees a russel win. I don't think the heroes see him nearly as bad as you think, remember they all in solidarity wanted parv out before and after the merge.

They wanted Parvati off because they knew how good she was at the game from previous seasons...none of them knew Russell.

Yep. For some reason Russell plays like the game is to get to the finals. Granted you have to get there to have a shot at winning, but its a game to get a jury of people you've voted off to select the $1m for you. Perhaps the game is to get people voted off in a way that they say 'nice job', lol.

JT shook Russell's hand, but according to the ponderosa vids, that's the furthest from how he actually feels about Russell. In fact he can't wait for him to arrive at the ponderosa so he can "ignore him", lol. Its one giant Russell-bash-fest amongst the jury right now.

Don't you get paid more money the further you get in the game, even if you don't win the 1 mill?

I'm pretty sure you do. I know the runner-up used to get $100,000. I think I remember reading that everyone on the jury gets paid something, and it increases the further they get in the game.

I haven't been watching the recent Ponderosa videos...if that is true I don't see Russell getting a lot of votes in the end...he doesn't seem to be winning anyone over from the remaining group.

There's a lot of people on the jury that russel's not responsible for being the driving force for getting voted off. If he gets there, I think the key factor will be if he can articulate himself better this time than "I kicked all yalls ass in the game, and carried these guys so vote me".

I don't think so, but I'm not certain. I thought I'd read that everyone got $100,000 to just be on the show.

I was always under the understanding that the deeper you made it the more you got.
Personally I'd prefer winner take all (except of course a decent amount for just being on the show.... NOT $100K though).

Like I said, I really don't know. You'd have to be compensated somehow. I'll bet all told you're commited to the show for 60 days minimum. Selection, promotional videos, traveling, time in the game itself, etc. It's been stated numerous times that so and so had to quit their jobs to be on the show. It may not be worth $100K, but it is showbiz.

I cannot believe how far Sandra has come, and with the idol she will go even further. If she wins this I will stop watching this show. She has done NOTHING to deserve it.

I was surprised with the Danielle thing, I think Parv will be on the defensive now. Russ has got Rupert and Colby.. Jerri will do whatever.. Sandra hates Russell but I think she'll bite the bullet and go with him if needed. But if Parv can convince Jerri and Sandra to get with her it'll be 3/3 then.. next week will be interesting.

Iirc, Jerri really disliked Parvati at the beginning of the show because of the cute charmer type of girl that she is. I think that's why she willingly went Daniella at the last vote, since it didn't bother her to weaken parvati.

Sandra on the other hand has added little except constant tough talk and babbling about her detest of russell, but she's done enough to stay out of the firing line. I think that's one reason why so many like Russell...he doesn't babble the entire show about getting rid of someone, he says they need to go and gets rid of them promptly. :D

A side note regarding Russell...if I'm not mistaken, this is his second survivor without having even been to the first jury vote/reunion yet, so he's at a disadvantage not having the opportunity to learn how his style makes it extremely difficult to get the $1m votes from the jury. It will be interesting to see how he would handle a 3rd season and if he changes things up a bit.

The only official thing I've ever heard about how much money non-winners make was on Survivor: Pearl Islands. At the reunion show, Jeff asked the jury members how many would've voted for Lill if she had taken Jonny Fairplay to the end instead of Sandra, and most/all raised their hands. Jeff said it was a $900,000 mistake to choose Sandra, alluding to Lill getting $100,000 for being the runner-up.

I think so. Here's from the survivor wiki:

Prizes

The player chosen as Sole Survivor receives a cash prize of $1,000,000 (prior to taxes).[12] The Sole Survivor also receives a car provided by the show's sponsor, except in Survivor: Cook Islands. In a few seasons, the final players have also agreed to play for the tribe flag or other representative object from camp.

In addition, the final five or six contestants may have the opportunity to compete for a car. The winner of this challenge has never won the game, leading to the concept of a "Survivor car curse".[13]

Every player receives a prize for participating on Survivor depending on how long he or she lasts in the game. In most seasons, the runner-up receives $100,000, and third place wins $85,000. Sonja Christopher, the first player voted off in Survivor: Borneo, received $2,500.[14] The prize was increased for Survivor: All-Stars. The known prizes for Survivor: All-Stars were as follows: 2nd = $250,000; 3rd = $125,000; 4th = $100,000. Tina Wesson, the first player voted off in Survivor: All-Stars, received $25,000. In Survivor: Fiji, the first season with tied runners-up, the two runners-up received US$100,000 each, and Yau-Man Chan received US$60,000 for his 4th place finish.[15] The prizes for other seasons with more than sixteen contestants are unknown.

All players also receive an additional $10,000 for their appearance on the reunion show.[16]

It was also reported that when Amber (who married boston rob and is hot) received a $500k appearance bonus when she returned for one of the shows.
