They actually ended up doing 5 and last night I checked the servers around 8:30 and most of them were light pop with some medium and only one full. Hopefully they'll do more than 5 waves today.

Do you remember what the full one was? And any of the mediums?

From what I understand, they'll end up in your in-game mailbox when you redeem your retail product code (which you'll get sent to you next week sometime, or when you receive the physical game box).

Thanks, sounds good to me!

What class is meant to be DPS? I prefer to not heal or tank right away 😀

The only class with dps only specs are Gunslinger/Sniper. Each of the other classes has either a dps/tank or dps/healer options. Personally I rolled a gunslinger during beta and it was fun. Had to get use to the cover system. Decided to roll a Jedi Shadow for now since I wanted the option to tank later on. Will roll a slinger again later.

Another thing to note is all the tanks and healers are all viable as long as you spec them as such and bioware has stated that all dps specs should be within 5% of each other. Since I havent seen combat logs I cant really verify that.

Is there any class that can actually do something no other one can or that can do something better than any other class can?

nope... they are all clones of the same class much easier to balance.

All the skills are nearly the same on both sides just different names and animations.

I got in with the fourth and final wave yesterday around 2pm CST. Managed to make level 19 as my Assassin last night before logging off for bed. Now I'm at work and feel like a crack addict itching to head home to play 🙂 With the beta I could tell my self it didn't matter because everything was getting wiped. So I could convince myself not to care about my character and progress. I was using beta to LEARN the game mechanics. Now that I'm playing for real.... man must have my CRAXXOR!!! Hehe.

Anyhow, I'm finally playing the Sith Assassin and can now correctly compare it to my Jedi Shadow.

Know what? They are EXACTLY the same thus far. Every ability is exactly mirrored in the "effect" they do. The names of the abilities are different. The icons and particle effects they have are different. What they do is exactly the same though. I mean EXACTLY. Even the skill trees are the same. I'm guessing this to be the case for practically every class now. Which at least makes for perfect balance between the two factions.

One thing about being Sith is there is no moral dilemma when it comes to dialog choices. Whatever one earns the biggest reward or darkside points is what you choose every time.

While the classes are the same, I can't say that the zones and experience is. The starting world was smaller. At least I think Koriban felt smaller than Tython when looking at the force user starting worlds. I think the loot was better on Tython as well as I distinctly remember getting better starting swords and equipment a lot more often than on Koriban.

The first flash point had more bosses for the Republic with better itemization.

The starting world for the Republic, Coruscant, has you start in a nice safe area and then branch out from there. There are no major "heroic" areas you have to run through just to give to one safe area to another. The Heroic areas are most certainly in out of the way places on the map you have to take your character to that area to reach on Coruscant. Compare that with Dromund Kass and it's night and day in difficulty. Right when you get to Kass you are basically in a "fight" zone and there is large swath of Heroic area between the space port and the first major city safe zone.

So far I'm liking playing Sith although I think I still like republic side more. The main quest line just feels more epic and involving. Your republic character has a main guiding purpose to do. The sith main quest so far feels like a side quest. You are just someone's little errand boy/girl for the next whim they have of making you go fetch someone or kill someone. From what I understand it doesn't really change.

I also noticed another major difference between playing the two sides. Even on the republic side I would still run into people that chose the darkside dialog options. In groups this was great because it allowed me to see all the alternatives to a given quest story line. On the Sith side though NO ONE choses a lightside option. Ever. I'm tempted to do so with my next character I run through the game with.

Of course there are differences between tanks and healers. Read the wiki or the swtor forums. They each have strengths and weakness. The Imperial and Republic side are mirrors of each other for the most part.

Unfortunately some times it's not obvious what the game considers light/dark. For instance, with my Empire agent I hired a prisoner as an assassin rather than kill him and I got light side points. WTH? There were a few quests that had issues like that. It seemed worse on the empire side than on the the republic.

There's a taxi right at the starting point on that planet and you automatically know the other flight point for the city, so you can just take the taxi. They don't expect you to run through the heroic zone.

Yeah, I played with a friend and we were surprised you could try and go light side as part of the Sith Empire. I guess you'd basically be a Republic spy or something? *shrug* I guess it would make sense that not everyone in the empire is straight up evil, but being a front-line soldier that wouldn't seem likely you could remain "good" and still be on that side. I think part of this is because Star Wars has always been so black and white with the bad guys obviously bad.

has nothing to do with what side you are on.. there are evil and good people on both sides.. both loyal to their causes and sides..

there are assholes in every faction of life.. so the game lets you be who you want to be..
as it should..

Myself I always play evil.. even if i was a goodie goodie Jedi.. Id still be a fallen dark Jedi out for money sex and power..

and yeh HP... you dont run through that area... lol.. take the speeder.

Just FYI, in the options you can toggle on a feature that shows which side every dialogue option is for. It puts a little dark side or light side symbol next to them on the speech wheel. Conversation options that don't affect alignment don't have symbols, though.

I found this option very useful.
