So are you guys actually enjoying yourselves or are you just grinding away?

I never played the beta, but I was in on day one of early access, and I am now bored. I love, love, LOVED the game as I was leveling my first character. It was terrific Bioware-ness, but now that I'm 50 the desire is gone.

Yeah, I can understand that. Right now I'm leveling and playing it basically as a single-player game. I barely use any of the MMO aspects at all. Frankly I don't even see many people in the areas I've been leveling so far.

Once I get to 50 I'll probably quit or level a Sith to play the other side of the story. I'm not sure if I'll be playing this game for the long-term.

I'm having a tonne of fun and I just discovered that PvP can be fun too! Only thing is I wish there were more space missions; I only have four available and two of them are grey already. I love doing them, but I also like to get some reward; the grey ones give me very little and the two others look like they will go grey soon.

The reason I ask is I've been doing KOTOR 1 and 2 about once every year since they came out and am getting sick of them.
Mass Effect did not cure my pain.
Need something awesome and I keep hoping this might be it. But I dont wanna invest all that time and money until I know for sure.

treat it like a single-player game and you won't be disappointed.

The path to level 50 is a lot of fun.

Post level 50 - it's like any other MMO which uses the same end game formula. You're going to think about watching paint dry instead of logging in at times.

I think its even worse. People complained about WoW and their dungeon/pvp/raid queue but spamming chat to find people, especially when you cant shift click their name to see their class, is horrible. The loss of the sense of community? Its the same imo. At least give us the option of jumping on and queing if we want to.

It's an MMO, so trying to play it solo is going to be a drag when you get to the point that your 'single player experience' ends. My favorite things to do are group queueing PVP and the raids, but anything you can do with your friends is going to be better than doing it alone. Hell the other night they talked me into going on the White Crystal snipe hunt before Bioware squashed that, but if nothing else we found some cool looking unfinished areas on Hoth.

Also something as simple as a respec can give new life to a character. I'd only been healing as a sorc so far but we're light on DPS lately so it was a nice change of pace playing the fights differently and filling a different role.

Ilum actually has a lot of potential if you like that sort of environment, I think world PVP is really overrated but just last night one of the guys I played with finally got some big ops v ops action on Ilum and was really surprised at how much he liked it, even after he finished his quests. The issue there is how to encourage that sort of scenario regularly for players who've finished the quest and don't need/don't care for valor.

Datacrons are quite amusing (and potentially frustrating) in a group or solo, but do lose some of their charm if you've already done them before.

I still enjoy the game. But, I haven't been in a rush to hit 50 either. Highest level character is 46 now.

After I hit 50, well, that depends. I'm not interested in pvp. Definately interested in raiding. But, it does depend on how they are implemented. If its something thats going to consume 5 hours of my life a night, every night, then I'd probably pass. But, I don't really know how they are set up.

I'm in the anandtech light side guild, so hopefully we'll have enough people with interest in those hitting 50 soon.

If not, then I'll work on leveling up lower level characters, until I get bored with it. That would be when I quit the game. I'm certainly not regretful about buying the game either way though. It's been alot of fun so far, and well worth the money I spent on it.

Raiding is pretty light weight so far, which is a welcome change far as we're concerned. Trash between bosses is limited in number but not a complete pushover, especially in Karagga's Palace some of the trash plays out like mini-encounters themselves. And in EV two of the five bosses aren't really 'bossfights' but more puzzles/"chess events", so you can easily clear both of the current raids in two nights once you get over the initial learning curve.

Thats what they told me about Guild Wars. And I did. And I was disappointed.

This is the only MMO I've ever played (besides a few hours of D&D Online after it went F2P) and I am thoroughly enjoying it as a single-player game.

The class stories for a Jedi Knight are very different from a Smuggler or Trooper, so the claim of it being 8 new KOTORs isn't too far fetched.

Most of the side quests are shared, but there are far more of them than you need to stay on-level for the main class quests. So you can have different characters do different side-quests on each planet, repeating some and skipping any that annoy you.

You can also try doing different crafting with different characters, have some be light, dark or neutral (on Republic or Empire), etc. so you should get several months of enjoyment out of the content that is there now even without doing any MMO or endgame stuff.

If you're a carebear like me, pick a PVE or RP server so you can't be griefed during quests by PVPers.

LOL, I just got what amounted to a "please log in and play" email from Bioware. I probably haven't logged into the game in about 3 weeks.

So I wasn't imagining it!

Imps had more of the rush-to-50/BM crowd, but the Republic counteroffensive at 50 appears to be across servers.

This post is particularly funny because it has more than a little truth to it:
Alderaan is the hardest for Empire because a few people cannot carry a completely clueless zerger team like you sometimes can in Voidstar or Huttball. What generally happens in Alderaan is... half of imperials run for their side turret, cap it, and proceed to wander off in random directions, leaving the turret almost always undefended. Republic grabs their side with two or three people and they stay to defend. The rest of the Republic zergs middle and usually wins since half of the Empire is who knows where and the Empire side turret gets ninjaed by a lone stealther. The second the Republic has two turrets most of the Empire team leaves the game, possibly leaving some "OMG NOBS" comment behind...

Im not surprised really. been waiting for more people to start pvpin myself. I know when i first hit 50 there seemed to be all of 20-30 people doing wz's any given day. Got to where i recognized them all :). Figured once we got more higher level people things would even out a bit.

They say anything about being able to change your AC later on?

So glad they aren't allowing this, I already rolled both an Assassin and a Sorcerer to 50, would have been kind of upset if they made it so that wasn't necessary.

Tried 8 man Soa? Avoiding the lightning orbs is very easy if you only have 8 people in instead of 16.

End game right now feels a lot to me like WoW ~6-9 months after release minus the faction grinds. Farming up mats in heroics for the pieces of gear that are worth making(if you aren't raiding, otherwise heroic FPs are kind of pointless), doing dailies of which there are more then I care to do on a daily basis, and raiding which atm is very easy on the learning curve which is nice to get people into content, and Nightmare mode at least gives some challenge for newer players to get their head around things. Really hoping the next tier face stomps us out of the gate, but that may just be me.

Sadly that was 8 man Soa lol, about 4-5 of us don't have a problem with it, the others seem kind of baffled at the idea of intentionally taking damage and inevitably kite the orbs into someone or burst theirs so slowly that we have too many up at once or our mind trap DPS blows.

Same shit different game though lol, we've always had a good core but never people independent/aware enough on their own to fill the other spaces :D

Good lord I played way too much this weekend. I think I went from 31-36 over about two days of playing, which is crazy for me. Still love the game a lot and I now find PvP (even though there is a lot of angry yelling by people, which I could do without) to be really fun and a pretty good change of pace. I also love the space missions.

Who knows, I may be bored by the time I get to 50, but for now I am still fully engaged and enjoying the game.
