They were selling advanced tickets for the 4th here on April 20th....not for pre-screenings or the first showing (tonight), but tomorrow's regular shows. As far as I know all the shows around here are sold out through the weekend.

One guy at work is a huge comic-book fan. I asked him if he had tickets and he just laughed, then said he had spent $200 on tickets already...enough for himself and 9 other people, for TWO different showings. So he's going twice, his girlfriend is going twice, and then they're going to bring 16 other people with them. He's going to the first showing tonight, then the earliest tomorrow, and he'll be dressed up (his girlfriend as well) both times, once as Spiderman, the next time as Peter Parker.

Scary.

Saw a free preview of it today at 7pm on the IMAX.

It's dissappointing.

*SPOILERS*
Although I'm sure they'll bring him back in some way, killing of the favorite spiderman villian ever in a mere 30 minutes was a huge let down. I figured the movie would end with Brock getting taken over by the symbiote (sp?) but that's far from it. There was at least 30 minutes in the middle that seemed more like it should be the in the blooper reel than in the movie, and they spent more time trying to be funny than making an action-loaded comic book film. It was more like the Sunday funnies than the comic books. Way, WAYYY too many shots of various characters trying to look overly dramatic, and way too many horror flick like moments of trying to make you jump.

I give it a 6/10... and I'll start driving the nails into the coffin of the franchise.

I'm back. They oversimplified the Venom storyline tremendously. The emo thing was a bit ridiculous. Decent but I think the other two were better.

If you like the franchise or are a comic book/spiderman geek, see it. It is an entertaining movie and fits in.

**SPOILERS**

I just saw it. My least favorite of the series. It was far too much Peter Parker and not enough Spiderman. Everything was over dramaticized(sp?), from the "I'm so happy beginning" to the "I'm pissed off and emo" middle. COME ON!!! He had the eye liner and did the friggen emo hair flip!! Funny ... a bit, but it was a cheap laugh and will just be annoying on multiple viewings. They killed off Venom too :(. Overall everything was far too convenient and "clobber you over the head" style/acting was irritating. I don't remember this sort of exaggerated acting in the other ones.

I would not see this movie again in theaters, maybe a rental ... maybe

**SPOILERS**

For the short time we got to see Venom, he was pretty much perfect, and because of that fact I think it was good they killed him off fast or else many main characters would be dead including Spiderman...I think Venom is just too powerful to make the transition to the more realistic world the movie Spiderman takes place.

That being said I think we can be pretty sure Venom is dead (we see Brock get vaporized) although I could swear I saw a bit of symbiote survive and sort of scurry away.

I think the bashing because of the emo thing is being taken too far, the only mistake was to dress Peter like an emo but he was far from being actual emo - emos aren't short-tempered, alphamale, can-and-will-kick/kill-your-ass-if-you-look-at-me-funny... It was pretty much just the hair, otherwise it was pretty spot on to how I've always seen infected Peter/Spidey. His 'revenge' on Mary Jane at the Jazz club was an awesome scene.

Thought it was good, not sure if it was better than the first two but not so sure it was worse (it was a pretty different experience, thus making it tough to judge it comparing directly), thus I find myself trying to compare it to Batman Begins (my comicbook movie measuring stick) and it becomes more clear that it doesn't measure up to that.

I could go into far more detail but I'll just end it with saying I think it could have been much better, but I was not disappointed because I wasn't expecting them to do as much as they did with all they tried to cram into the 2 hour 20 minutes - of which I think that may have been a product of perhaps they didn't know if they were going to be making anymore movies (at least with the same cast/crew) going into making this one and thus they ended this one in such a fashion that they included everything the fans really wanted to see (Venom) and ended it so it could be an actual conclusion.

I got back a few hours ago, the theater I went too wasn't even sold out. Still had seats available from the looks of it.

Anyway I liked it, but I'm disappointed too. Nowhere near as good as Spider-Man 1 and 2. However it wasn't as bad as XMen: The Last Stand (thankfully). Should have left Venom out, and I hope if there is a Spider-Man 4 we don't see anymore symbiotes. I thought Sandman was good, and "emo" Parker was ok for awhile. Some of those scenes went on forever though.

I think one of my major disappointments about this was the pace and how much stuff was crammed into the film. Venom wasn't really Venom to me. I don't know how they could have done it better though. Also the ending? Didn't like it, nuff said.

Did anyone else feel like this story should have been 2 movies?

I thought it was ok.... people who dont know the whole "spiderman story" will love it. Special effects were top notch though.

If you watch it not expecting it to relate much to the comic books you will like it.

I laughed more than I was wowed.

He'll probably want to sell his second set of tickets after his first viewing. The movie is getting panned by half the critics. I don't know how Raimi could have fvcked things up so royally after nearly universal praise for Spidey 2.

Then again, Pirates 2 was also a sh1tty sequel coming off the universally praised original, and they still raked in the cash.

It isn't that bad. There are some aspects in which this movie trumps the previous two (action, grit, comic relief, perhaps even general entertainment, special effects) but just because it might come up short with the overall story or experience doesn't make it an automatic failure. A lot of the critics seem to be picking this movie just to rag on like they often do. One of the common complaints is about Kirsten Dunst singing...A. she's supposed to suck according to the plot (and thanks to studio magic, she is far from unbearable), B. they don't make you listen to whole songs (far from it actually) - it is far from the musical some of these critics seem to want you to believe.

And if it is to be the last Spiderman movie then they didn't do a bad job because they couldn't really have done it any better without letting a lot of people down somehow

Got back a little while ago. With me being on of the biggest Spidey fans ever, to walk out of the theatre being that disappointed sucks. Raimi made it as campy as he possibly could. The "dark" Peter scenes were so over the top cheesy that it was sickening. Only good parts were the action (which there wasn't enough of) and the CGI. It's time for a new cast and a new director.
