i dont think it was jumping the shark at all. clay was taking the club in a direction that was getting them more and more involved in things that were riskier and more dangerous so that he could get his big payday then "retire". the whole premise of the show from the beginning is jax figuring out how his dad was trying to take the club in a different direction than it was going, and that clay was trying to hide it from him the whole time, and that clay killed his dad because of that, and clay was being led by greed and selfishness. and the cartel deal was more of that.
Yeah, I got all that...but the "battle" with the cartel...the one where Kozik was killed...that was fucking stupid as hell. A bunch of mostly fat, aging bikers with little -to-no military experience, going after the cartel...a bunch of mostly ex-military thugs turned gangster...and more-or-less winning.
Another thing that bothers me...with all the gun play, gun running, explosions, and other criminal activity...there's no major police presence in Charming.
Sure, from time to time, the feds come in, do an investigation, make a few minor arrests, but in real life, Charming would be crawling with feds, state cops, and locals...so that the club wouldn't be able to shit without everyone knowing what they had for dinner. It just doesn't make sense.
Don't get me wrong...I LIKE the show, but it just seems like it jumped the shark and has gone way off the deep end.
