I'll definitely give the Mushkin a go in the P4PE first one stick because that board will overclock better that way then 2 sticks to see how well they work in single channel mode together.

You going to send the Mushkin back or get the FRN2? I suspect you're more pleased with the board than ram so I probably answered my own question.

Right now I am running my FSB @ 107/ ram 200% or 214mhz /428ddr.....and it is NOT the Mushkin ram.
The Mushkin will run at 100fsb and 200% or 200mhz , it wont even boot up at 102fsb/204mhz.

Either there is some sort of compatibility issue or the ram is garbage. I do know my Micron ram runs at 428ddr so
my board is definatly the bottleneck. What is strange is that the Mushkin can take far more aggressive settings
than the Micron but it cannot run as fast.
Does anyone have a clue as to what might be going on here?

Just checked and my Mushkin shipped so if bestbuy's delivery is like usual for me it'll be here by friday. BTW, the PCB on your's is black isn't it? or does the heatspreader cover the whole thing so you can't see it? Also, there's a chipset voltage hack for our bios I hear so I'll hunt around and see if I can find it, I'd like to take a crack at upping it slightly to see if it stabilizes a higher fsb. I'll have additional chipset cooling soon so the danger should be minimal if I don't juice it much higher.

How does the onboard sound on this board compare to a Philips Seismic Edge card? I am getting this board, but don't know if I should use the onboard audio or not. Thanks.

If it's the 5.1 and not the older 4.1 which was based on the older VLSI Thunderbird 128 DSP then it's definitely superior to the onboard sound and as the PCI bus is locked with the newer C 1.3L bios it shouldn't interfere with your overclock so use it by all means. I would get the SL- 75FRN2-L though because it has the C1 MCP-2 southbridge and A3 Northbridge from what I've read and will make for higher FSB speeds more than likely.

I am running the hacked BIOS right now @ 204fsb synced, I ran the Micron and got some errors in Prime 95, now I am running the Mushkin with no sweat. If the system temps dont rise too much I am going to bump up the voltage a hair more and go for 211mhz. :D

How's the heat on the NB that Radiohead is so worried about? Another question, did you let it auto flash or did you do it manually by editing the autoexec.bat?

2 tenths of a volt? The temp change is nearly none ...hell the boards probably all
vary a few tenths as it is which would PARTLY explain why a few run at 211mhz out of the box and some can get past
180mhz.
I just made a bootable disc, ran awd823f.exe and installed solvdd.bin

BTW the Mushkin just does not like this board very much, it was giving me some hassel so I put the
Micron back in..I cannot run either ram at 211mhz even at 1.8v ..I can run it at 204mhz which is something
I could never do before.
Right now I am concentrating using that extra NB voltage to make it stable at 200mhz...though I still
think in the end I will end up backing it down to 180-185mhz just because my board has acted
a wee bit fruity up high...I am looking for ROCK solid performance at heavy long loads and it is not going
to happen up high where I am at now.

UPDATE:Using the CPGeek edition bios which provides access to vdd voltage adjustments of 1.6v-1.8v [link provided by BentValve] I have been able to obtain 211fsb and so far stable by setting the value to 1.8v. The stress testing isn't finished but thus far it's passed looping 3Dmark2k1se for 1hr, Sandra burn-in for 1hr, and is presently running smooth with a GROMACS WU which can stress a CPU more heavily than P95TT which if it completes the GROMAC will be run for 5hrs then 11loops of memtest86 using Thugsrook's settings.

Here are some screenshots and pics of the current setup.

NOTE: *Stability testing still in progress*

This board is as good as.......well........Gold :p

Just read the new A1 NF2 chipset is the C1 and can handle 230fsb@just 1.65vdd :Q Talk about 400fsb Barton ready! VIA who? ;)

Dapunisher, very nice OC on the mobo and the CPU! I am back at 190mhz but I am temped to go ahead and buy the newer board ,
does it have the A1 NF2 chip? Where did you read about it?

There's a couple threads over@nforcershq.com in the Nforum that talk about the newA1/C1 stepping. WCPUID shows the correct info for it if you have one.

Well, the GROMACS core found some instability@1.825v so I'm tryin' 1.85v to see if it stabilizes completely otherwise I'm gonna try 12x200fsb=2.4ghz since the memory scores weren't far off at that speed. It actually tells you in the F@H log that it found instability, terminated early, and that if it continues to end work unitsa early to check your system for problems. There was a stats/welcome thread for you in the DC forum yesterday too so drop in and post up :)

Same here. That extra voltage got the chipset over the hump now to see if the max vcore will stabilize the CPU or if it's time to back down the clockspeed a bit. It was a rock@2.375@1.775v so 2.4ghz will be next if this fails.

O/Cing is always fun, isn't it? :)
I think I may order one of these damn things... I am too big of a Soltek Fan-Boy... I can't let this mobo pass.. :(

New review here .

In the end, the board did appeal to me. Its excellent stability, good performance and fantastic overclocking results - these are main characteristics of the Soltek 75FRN-L motherboard.

:)

heck yeah , if it was too easy it would not be fun...after all how sweet is sweet if you have never tasted sour? :)(or however that saying goes)

After reinstalling Windows everything is back to normal , I am not sure what happened ..probably too much tweaking :) I have been
in my BIOS tweaking at least 50 times by now.

Yes do get one of these boards they are sweet!
I love mine so much that I am getting another , I have a SL-75FRN2-L on the way.
