I would really, really, REALLY like to buy the Zaurus, but Sharp doesn't sell them in Finland 🙁. I could propably buy one from abroad, but I would miss the scandinavian letter in the keyboard....

I got a call fro HSN asking me if I wanted to purchase an replacement plan. The woman on the phone said it was $23 and covered me till 2005. She also said if anything happens, HSN will just refund my money.

I'm hoping its not some freaky scam but I pulled the trigger... 🙂

Yeah I got that same call for the replacement plan but I decided to not do it. Hopefully I won't regret it.

I already had to send the unit in to Sharp to flash my ROM after an OZ to Sharp corrupted it. I wanted to buy the Sharp warranty but its like $50. I'm guessing if I drop it or something and it breaks, I'll get my money back.

For those that got the Zaurus and the Sony CLIE Wifi Card but missed the Howto (the webserver died)
Google Cache has a copy of it Here.

Yes I've tried the new ROM. It's quite nice. The new Opera is excellent and the new Document tab is nice too. But I personally still like OpenZaurus 3.2 better because it looks so much better and I like it's package install system. Oh and OZ also syncs better for me.

I am still waiting on buy.com for my SD card 🙁 it's been over a month since I ordered... nothing but trouble from buy.com

Has anyone updated to the latest Sharp ROM? (v3.10) I just finally got my Zaurus and was planning on updating the Sharp ROM and trying that one out for a while until I'm familiar enough to go with OpenZaurus. I'm no linux expert but I am a heavy PDA user, so this will give me the perfect chance to actually use linux on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I get a runtime error when I try to update the ROM with the setup program that I downloaded from Myzaurus.com. Any help would be appreciated.

On another note, does anyone have a clue if I may somehow be able to run NoteEdit on my Zaurus? It's only written for Linux, but I wouldn't have a clue how to go about it yet, but I would find this a very useful tool for me. Thanks.

I like the new ROM. Opera is awesome. I've used OpenZaurus a few times, but I don't like the way it manages memory. I think it uses up a lot of space whereas the Sharp ROM gives me more flexibility. Still, it lacks a fully configurable GUI so if looks don't bother you, I'd upgrade...

The new 3.10 ROM is way better IMO, I like it better than even OZ, as far as the way it looks just add Crystal Icons and it looks great.

What programs does everyone consider essential for the Zaurus? I've had mine for awhile now but just got my computer that has USB support back up.

While I've only recently aqcuired my Zaurus, I must also say that the 3.10 ROM is much better than the previous one. (Note: I have yet to try OpenZaurus, patience young grasshopper....)
