watch your temperatures! I had the same setup except with a 0530 Opteron 170 and after about 40 minutes of prime95 on each core at 2.5ghz, 1.4-1.5v - it died. I still don't know the extent of the damage - may be just the board or may be board, cpu, and PSU. But the temps reached at least 70c and shortly after the computer simply shut off. Never felt the heatpipes on the XP90 so hot before. It won't boot now. It fires up if I unplug the 4-pin power connecter near the CPU - but never posts. Either with the new Opteron or my old Winnie. I hooked up a spare Antec 330 watt PSU and it instantly began a nice fireworks show... I am hoping just the motherboard is deadOriginally posted by: PhatoseAlpha
How much voltage is actually safe to send into this chips? I don't want to fry my $300 165, but if it's safe and might get me an extra couple hundred mhz, I might turn it up a notch.
