watch your temperatures! I had the same setup except with a 0530 Opteron 170 and after about 40 minutes of prime95 on each core at 2.5ghz, 1.4-1.5v - it died. I still don't know the extent of the damage - may be just the board or may be board, cpu, and PSU. But the temps reached at least 70c and shortly after the computer simply shut off. Never felt the heatpipes on the XP90 so hot before. It won't boot now. It fires up if I unplug the 4-pin power connecter near the CPU - but never posts. Either with the new Opteron or my old Winnie. I hooked up a spare Antec 330 watt PSU and it instantly began a nice fireworks show... I am hoping just the motherboard is dead

Bump for how people are doing, I'm specifically interested in the 170's

AT results seem to be 2.6-2.7 on moderate voltage. Anyone with a DFI & a 170 wanna share their experiences? :D My DFI board FINALLY shipped from ZZF after Monarch dropped the ball like 3 times (and they STILL haven't shipped my CPU :|), so I should have everything by Friday.

Update: I have my opty 170 in. currently 2600@1.47v 42c full load both cores. I can get it to post at 2700@1.6v, but its not stable and the temps hit 57c idle. 1.55v doesn;t make much difference, and 2650 might be doable, but I like the 2600. Next is to keep lowering vcore and see how low it goes at 2600. I'm happy.

CPU voltage: 1.47 volts (CPU-Z)
Cooling: Thermalright XL-120 with 120mm Enermax fan
Idle temps: 39 degrees
Load temps: 52 degrees
Motherboard: DFI NF4 SLI_DR BIOS 623-2
Ram: OCZ4002048ELDCPC, Platinum EL
Ram size: 2048 (2 x 1024Mb)
Ram timings: 2.5-3-3-7
Ram divider: 5:6 (216MHz)
Ram voltage: 2.7 volts

On first boot I went directly to 2.4GHz at default vcore (1.33V). It was stable.
Went later to 2.7GHz but had to increase vcore to 1.45V. It goes into Windows but Prime 95 fails in a few minutes. Tried also 1.50V but it fails in 12 minutes (core 1 seems to be the weaker one).

I don't wanna go beyond 1.5V. For the moment I will burn at 2.6 GHz / 1.47V

I will try also a DFI NF4 Expert tomorrow or during the week. I have also to properly install the SI-120, I didn't use Artic Silver (because I will be switching to the Expert)- just normal white thermal paste.

I have a Big Typhoon also, but not willing to go through the install process again. Too difficult/risky. I don't think the SL-120 is much behind it anyway.

which test of prime are you doing that's failing?

I too can't get mine above 2.6. Core 0 fails the small form prime95 tests instantly and Core 1 fails in under 30 min. This is at 1.55V.. I have the same stepping but don't know about the week. Same mobo too.

I don't mean to go OT here, but I think the dual core opty stepping "CCBWE" is hilarious when said aloud as "See see bwee!"

:p

More results!

Hey post your results. I have the same week and stepping in OEM form and I want to see if the theory of older is better is true. I can't imagine anything being as good as those week 30 chips, but asside from those, I'm not sure older is better.
