true, but if you played a real guitar odds are you'd have a wire too =P

Very true! But then I'd have real groupies that could get me a drink instead !

if you're a REAL gangsta, you'd have your groupies follow you into the rockband world =P

Since you said you want to play online, I'm not sure if you saw this from the Ars article:

Are you questioning my fanhood?

<dramatic pause>

It's all good, I've been obsessing over this game since it was announced. The lack of an online world tour mode is lousy but we'll still play online.

I like GH2, but that is the only one I plan on having out of the GH/ rock band wars. Rock Band will be alot of fun, and I cant wait to play it with some of my buddies, but I would rather just spend time playing that at band practice instead and any time I have gaming usually goes towards orange box.

Anybody know of a store OTHER than best buy doing a midnight launch?

gamestop. but call your local store to confirm, as apparently not all stores are doing it.

As you said, definitely call first. From earlier reports, it sounds like most GS/EBs are only getting about 6 in for each system and pre-orders have already staked a claim to all of them.

24-hour Walmarts may be an option.

is anyone else in line already? i'm second in line at my meijer, so far we're the only two but i didn't want to chance it.

screw line. i pre-ordered it, i got my copy reserved. i'll be picking it up at midnight, and will arrive maybe a few minutes before midnight so I can pay it off that way I can get out of there right at midnight. 🙂

Sounds like an awesome time... but no online tour mode is no bueno for me. Nobody's schedule at my campus matches up well and it'd be hard to get a group of people together very often.

IGN stated that it will added via an online update shortly after the game releases. I'll assume they know what they are talking about.

Harmonix stressed today that they never said it would be available in a patch.

You can play online coop quickplay though for scores. kinda sux about the bwt though. I still think it'll come as a patch but they don't want to promise yet.

ugh.... word on the Rock Band forum is that PS3 owners are likely to get screwed.

Apparently the GH3 guitar is NOT compatiable with Rock Band. With that being the case.. how the hell am I supposed to have a bass guitar to use without having to buy a second set of peripherals.

This is not making me happy... that's for sure

indeed. but i'll probably never buy Guitar Hero 3, at least, not for a long while, so that's not likely something to bother me. What bothers me is the fact that stand-alone peripherals are not available at launch, because having a PS3, I don't own any other game up till this point, and would love to buy a second Fender guitar. Well, I think I will.. gotta play with it and see how I like it compared to past guitar controllers.

Supposedly, the RB Fender can't be used in the GH games on the Xbox 360. A lesser issue, but still darn annoying as I'd like to sell my old Xplorer.

I hope the impending userbase backlash forces common sense to prevail at both EA and Activision.

Ya, the issue of the GH PS3 guitar not being able to work with Rock Band when EA/Harmonix isn't releasing stand-alone guitars yet does kinda suck. I don't guess they have to support the competeing brand's guitars, but atleast put out the product so people can take full advantage of the game's namesake.

As far as the RB guitar not being able to be used in GH, blame Red Octane for that one. I remember reading in an interview a couple of months ago that Harmonix was happy to include support for GH guitars, and they offerred Red Octane the code to make RB guitars compatible with GH, but apparently they refused.

the meijer person just came out to say they didn't receive any PS3 bundles. they only got 4 for the 360. which is funny because there were 4 people here for the PS3, and now I'm the only person left in line. One of the people who left said she was just at wal-mart across the street and they didn't get any PS3 bundles either.

Just my luck picked up the game at midnight and found out the blue pad on my drum kit is busted... Hopefully they send me a new one asap!!!

game is awesome. the guitar definitely requires some getting used too, as the buttons and strum bar feel completely different. drums are well built and are rather challenging. this game is gonna be fun. already got a 3-person band (4th instrument required and noticeably absent, plus not even sure who would be the 4th man), and we've progressed some, but not much.

This game is super fun!
Drums are awesome, singing is fun, guitar is pretty much what I'm used to/expect.
Definitely not a purchase I regret!
