I think Hale says the exact same words that Daedalus said when you first see him. Something like "It's beautiful". Then he gets his brains blown out.

It's not so much a letdown ending, then a major twist prior to the third chapter.

They are really going to lengths to try and make this series a damn good experience to the point of it being just so unlike anything else. Mechanics are one thing, but just the overall style, the story, the detail... it's all so fresh.

And because of that, while I never really saw the ending coming, it doesn't really surprise me. I enjoyed the storyline playing as Hale, and really don't want to change that, but it's something Insomniac would throw at us, and really kind of makes sense based on the story's progress in the game.
Resistance 3 will probably end up being centered around Cappelli (?) with Hale as the main enemy. I wonder if they'll do the crazy body transformation for Hale.
 
damn so i just finished r2 tihs morning, and holy crap, tihs is hands down the best single player campaign FPS game this generation IMO. it was such a great experience and had SSSSOOOO much variety.

there really was not 1 part on any level that felt like I was there before. and then you have a ton of different enemies coming at you as opposed to some standard enemy.

i thought it was epic and the huge ass bosses were just awesome. i thought the buildup to the final battle was really awesome too, going up that platform as all of the enemies are coming at you, and then you have to walk through the spaceship!

man such a great game, and i tihnk I am in the minority because i loved the ending, dude just gets his brains blown out so unexpectedly!

I actually think Hale comes back. Considering he had gone full Daedalus, it wouldn't surprise me if he just regenerated
 
hate to contribute to thread necromancy but i just got this game via gamefly and i can't stand it

I liked Resistance, but this shit is just the same + megaman thrown in

You guys talking about the ending make me want to finish it, but I don't know if I can.

hence the game being a sequel. it should be similar............
 
i just beat it ealier this week and bought it the week prior, prett easy game but was freaking awesome. The scene with all the battlships in the morning sky flying by, shooting distant buildings..Epic.
I really wanted that scene to be interactive, maybe fly in a ship to counterattack, too bad it was just a loop like a video but was inspiring.

heavily scripted, linear but was done right. not fond of the cliffhanger ending but cant wait for a sequal. hopefually they'll open it up a bit, maybe allow you to drive or fly in some parts, something to break up the standard fps feel.

btw, never played the first one...is it as epic?

It doesn't have the scale i.e. you won't fight Godzilla sized monsters. But I still think it is one of the must play titles on PS3.

You are Hale, right from the beginning of the U.S. joining the fight, and before he is infected. Like HL2, by the end of the game, you can have every weapon available to you, and depending on the enemies, you will need most of them.

I thought it took many of the things I loved from other shooters, and incorporated them well. The HL2 influence for example. Some don't care for that, calling such titles cookie cutter, but I am in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." camp.

In 5.1 it has some of the best sound effects of any game I've played. In some of the fire fights, the shots wiz by you, and have very realistic impacts on brick walls and such behind you. It makes me want to go throw it in and play my favorite parts now.

If you play it, sit through the credits, there is a scene afterwards.

understood, and perhaps i was a bit hasty, however

where is my 4 tiered health bar? why can i only carry 2 guns at a time instead of ~6ish like the first one? why is there so my "chatty cathy" dialogue as another poster stated?

i have to admit, the bullseye has MUCH better accuracy than it did in the original
 
Can someone explain the story to me? It seems like at one point they are man made biological experiments and then they are aliens? with like warships and weapons and giant monsters? then that dr. is talking about ancient chimera? i dont get it.
