I don't understand why conservatives think that this could possibly be a good thing. Once you throw all the euphemisms they like to use out of the window, it comes down to the fact that they're getting rid of the department of education. Even if you have the most cynical view of the purpose of education being to make useful workers for businesses of all types, then you want standardised education schemes to ensure the maximum number of potential workers. Every state's degree in mathematics should be of equal worth. If you throw out standardised education schemes then most of the potential workers from whatever backwater state will be regarded as poorly educated and therefore disregarded by employers as likely having no useful skills whatsoever.

If you turn back the wheels of civilisation far enough, your would-be voters won't need you any more either!
Could be a good thing.

It's all about Gods and Clods.

Blue states will produce well rounded, educated kids with bright futures.

But those future captains of industry will still need people to pump gas, mow lawns, and dig ditches.

So be glad Red states are prepping a good supply of Clods. 🤔

The point is to have low-educated, low-skilled workers for all the jobs you need filled now that there's no immigrant workforce to fill them.

Attacking and controlling education is a hallmark of fascism.

They see the education system as it exists today as a threat because it teaches facts and critical thinking.

A fascist education system teaches propaganda, loyalty, fealty and TRIES to teach the basic skills needed to be a productive worker.

This has been the conservative wet dream since they started recruiting the evangelical simps into the fold.

Also, the goal is to completely privatize education, which is nothing more than an end-around to spread all these once-public funds to religious indoctrination cult schools, which is what they've been doing for a while now, anyway, and is the point of all these "charter schools." I think it was Ohio first on the block, to legally shift public funds to private schools, which is an absolute fucking sham. It's just another version of white flight and making sure that we can now take tax dollars to pay for cult fuckers to force everyone to attend anti-science, anti-education schools.

Charter Schools seem to be the US version of what we call "Academies", and it seems that just as here those "Academies" were introduced by New Labour, and then massively expanded by the Tories, in the US Charter Schools started as a Clinton-era Democrat idea and then the Republicans ran with them.
Really wish the centrists wouldn't keep doing this - serving as the leading edge of the hard-right.

Also to maintain a pure white race.
