It's strange. If it was about the 10 bucks you would think they would just give dual entitlement to the PS5 version.

The whole $10 upgrade thing is confusing if it's not enforced for everything ps4 to ps5. I remember seeing somewhere that most newer titles will be $70. Lately all we've been seeing is a lot of cross gen games where some you pay $10 to get the ps5 edition and some offer the upgrade for free.

It also sets companies to do what Sony did here before they went back on their original statement because people will just buy the PS4 version of a title if they know the upgrade to ps5 is free.

I suppose it depends on the title if the upgrade is free or not, if it's frame rate related and doesn't require additional assets and graphical features it makes sense but if it needs additional work the $10 extra charge makes sense. How much extra work is the question and at what value does that equate to charging more?

Would be nice if Sony could get on the smart delivery route.

I believe Ghost is the only Sony game that has an actual native PS5 version along with a PS4 version and they are charging 10 bucks for the upgrade.

Yes that's correct and $30 to upgrade from the regular ghosts PS4 version to the director's cut ps5 version. Which is basically the DLC anyway.

Ugh that final final final final bossfight though. Now I gotta farm pep pops and elfin elixirs to have any chance of beating it and getting the platinum. Loved the game until now but not sure I want to grind for hours just to get one last trophy.
Haha, I don't remember it being very hard. That's not a humble brag, I think I just got lost enough and ended up grinding more naturally.

Are you talking about Calasmos? That was an easy fight. I'm talking about the Timewyrm. Though I think this bossfight is only in S version and not the original Dragon Quest XI. The whole fight revolves around using pep pops to get your entire team pepped, using the Yggdragon's Blessing pep power, having Veronica cast magic burst with 999MP, and refilling her MP back to 999 with Elfin Elixirs over and over again. Also you have to kill Timewyrm and it's tail at the same time. And not be killed by the first two attacks before you can start healing and doing all that. And then not getting wiped out when the Timewyrm and its tail buff themselves.

Haha that's what I'll do, buy the PS4 version, upgrade free.

It makes sense given that you have the most freedom with that route... especially if you own a PS4 and a PS5. Although, given that PS4 and PS5 games have independent save files, it's not nearly as seamless as it is on the Xbox where switching between a One console and a Series console is seamless in regard to saves. Ghost of Tsushima was actually the first PS5 game to not require the user to install the PS4 version just to upload their save to then import it via the PS5 version.

Crummy thing about the Showcase is that I think every game shown except for Gran Turismo is a 2023 or later title.

I didn't get a chance to watch the showcase but I definitely guessed that much about titles all being later ones.

I remember trying to play KOTOR on PC ages ago when it came out. It didn't run well for me at the time so I never got a chance to get into it. I'll be checking out the remake for sure.

Aside from God of War, the only other 2 games that really interested me were Forspoken and Tschia.

Thought I'd drop this since it gives some more data on the "new" PS5 with the updated internals and heatsink.

It is also a little disappointing that God of War Ragnarok doesn't look any better than the PS4 game. But that's what happens when you make a game for a 10 year old console.

I thought Ragnarok looked very good but again I haven't played God of war on PS4 since it came out. I will for sure replay it on ps5 before the new one is out.

Ragnarok looked noticeably better than PS4 version, but it wasn't anything like the jump in graphics from PS3 to PS4 God of War.

But yes I do agree that making it a PS4 game is definitely holding it back and is something I hate about this generation, worrying about the lowest common denominator from last gen.

Yeah this one isn't going to be getting 10/10 in every review like GOW 2018 which was just mindblowing they got running 30 fps on base PS4 with how impressive it was graphically.
