With respect to old gamer, the problems revolved around people who had personal and political issues with him. Since his posts were within the rules of the forum, it was tough to do anything to quell the shrieks of the people complaining.

I believe this police thread was perk and other mods way of trying to make everyone happy.

Barring old gamers fling of posts over the past few months it hasn't been an issue.

So what next, a separate forum for gun posts, obamacare, etc etc etc?

My personal opinion is that the forums and subforums are fine. It was an isolated incident. Old gamer agreeing to 3 posts a week about cops is very fair. Let's go back to how the way it's been for years, the existing method worked fine.

I didn't really see an issue with it anyway. It's not like one has to read or comment in every thread. Evidently it may be a mod issue though, perhaps because of the effect on new visitors. Or maybe the mods just get tired of so many threads - or more likely of us whining that there are so many threads. lol

Looks like our friendly neighbors to the North noticed how much fun we were having down here.

According to their documents the arrest happened during an outdoor party at Pied de la Montagne school when the janitor, Carl Cadieux, yelled at a police car that drove through a red light -- without its flashing lights or sirens on.

The police car did not have any lights flashing and Cadieux said police had to pay attention to students. The police car made a U-turn and the driver confronted the young janitor, with the officer refusing to identify himself. When Cadieux began to film the confrontation with his cell phone the police officer grabbed him, forced him onto the squad car and placed him in an armlock. Several other police cars promptly arrived.

That was when the teacher, Nadia Lessard, touched an officer to say he was hurting her colleague. According to the complaint an officer then gripped Lessard by the throat and pepper-sprayed her.

BALTIMORE —A Baltimore City police officer is charged with felony animal cruelty for cutting the throat of a dog, police officials announced Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called Saturday morning to Grundy Street in southeast Baltimore for a report of a stray dog that had nipped someone trying to rescue it.

The dog actually was just loose. It was a 7-year-old shar-pei named Nala whose owner had posted pictures of it on a community Facebook page.

"She was just the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone. She was just scared that day and through all of those events -- scared and lost, thirsty, hungry -- yes I'm very sure that she bit someone, but the actions after that were not OK," the dog's owner, Sarah Gossard, told 11 News.

Police secured the dog using a dog pole but then an officer assigned to the emergency services division went much further.

"Unfortunately, at some point after the dog was contained, one of our officers used a knife and cut the dog's throat. This is outrageous and unacceptable breach of our protocol," Baltimore police Deputy Commissioner Dean Palmere said.

"We have no words to describe this. To say that we are appalled at this allegation is an understatement," said Baltimore police Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez.

Commanders said they know of no reason for the officer to use such force on a dog that was under control. The dog later died.

The officer's name was not immediately released. The officer is suspended without pay.

"I don't want him to have his job, I don't want him to be able to go out on calls and react like that to a person, to a dog, to anything. That's not OK, that's not OK," Gossard said.

They are also investigating if other officers who knew of the incident followed procedure to report it. Commanders said they "caught wind of it Monday," fully two days later.

The one where the police officer has been charged with animal cruelty, Gen87 was questioning that three posts above mine.

Ahhh.. ok

Yea maybe it will help if when we reply to a post in this thread just put the #number of the post your replying too. I get confused on who is replying to what on this thread..lol

And this is why we can't have everything in one thread. It's impossible to keep track of who's replying to what story. It kills any possible discussion.

Well between you and me "shhhh" I think that was what the complainers were wanting..to squash discussion.

If the "principle" underlying consolidating similar issues in a single thread is applied to other areas, then we should have a single "Climate Change" thread, a single "Obamacare" thread, a single "Rape in India" thread, and so on.

In other words, this "principle" is obviously so idiotic that it would kill ATPN.

I vote that we grit our teeth and allow separate threads for separate events. If a particular thread is too similar to (or actually repeats) another one, the Administrator can combine threads as needed.
