Oldgamer, whose recent enthusiasm for posting quite a number of these threads has led to tons of complaints, has consented to post all further such in this one, consolidated thread, and YOU, the lucky other posters, are instructed to do the same.

The other side of this coin is a mild warning to the rest of you not to go overboard with "trolling" herein. We all understand that posters disagree on the larger picture here. Confine yourselves to the merits of each case, please.

This experiment has now run its course. Due to popular demand*, and predicated on Oldgamer's pledge not to start more than 3 police misconduct thread per week, we will now return to our regular programming.

*The main complaint was that shoving all such incidents into one thread made each one difficult to follow.

Thank you

Just like the phony War for Oil in Iraq started this P&N Forum, there is almost enough to start a Police Misconduct forum.

But a dedicated thread is a step in the right direction unlike the wrong direction the Police forces in the U.S. have turned.

Not all Men and Women in Blue are full of Malice of course but too many and the Leadership are.

Edit: It's not "sticky".

I thought it was going to stay stuck at the top of the Forum???

Totally agree with you, and this should solve the issues of discord hopefully!..

Not all Police Misconduct is directed at humans.

Today sadly a K9 Officer was videoed hanging and whipping his K9 partner.

Warning - The video is hard to watch.

I hope the Officer gets hung by the neck and whipped like he did to the dog.

HAMMOND, IN - A video captured by a witness has put a northwestern-Indiana police officer on leave after it shows him abusing his K-9 companion out in broad daylight.

The video -- which could be considered graphic by some -- was posted to the internet recently and shows a Hammond Police Department officer lifting his K-9 off the ground by his collar and hitting him with a leash.

It reportedly happened on a busy street with other officers nearby.
According to affiliate ABC7 in Chicago, Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott says the officer has been put on administrative leave for the incident, and the dog in the video was removed from his control.

The Hammond Police Department is not releasing the officer's name, citing the fact that this is a personnel issue.

An online petition was created after the incident to take further action against the officer involved. The mayor reportedly took a stance against the dog on radio programming, causing outrage to members of the community, according to the petition creator.

An Indiana resident sent ABC15 a recording of the radio interview. In the interview the mayor reportedly said the person who filmed the abuse video was a "jack***" and he was worried about the impression the video would give.

He also stated the officer involved had a clean record as an officer and they are trying to protect his rights.

I talked to a dog trainer who told me that the choke training is actually a serious issue, because it is the old method that handlers have used that ends up resulting in serious injury to the dogs vertebrae, and strains to the muscle in the neck. He said they don't train dogs that way, and there are more effective ways of training a large aggressive type breed. But honestly I think the guy in that video was just abusing his dog period and hopefully since the video made the news he gets seriously reprimanded or loses his K9.

Man Arrested After Taping Arrest With Cell Phone

The charge against freelance disc jockey Lazaro Estrada is obstruction of justice. He was arrested on St. Patrick’s Day after using his cell phone to record a video of an arrest at a Southwest Miami-Dade store where he was spinning records for a promotional gig.

Miami-Dade Ofc. Michael Valdez arrived at the store to arrest owner Andre Trigiano on outstanding misdemeanor traffic charges.

Estrada says he began recording the episode with his iPhone only after the officer removed Trigiano from the store and threw the handcuffed man to the ground.

Estrada is represented by attorneys Frank Gaviria and Jonathan Perazzo who have taken his case pro bono, for free.

“At no point did he interfere, impede or obstruct the officer in the performance of his duties,” Gaviria told CBS4 News. “The video clearly shows Mr. Estrada was a very safe distance away from the officer.”

so now i have no excuse to start more threads. except dmcoward still gets to post all of his threads talking mad shit about people with a high net worth (at least measured in FRNs).

Moderator complaints go one place, and one place only, in Mod Discussions.

So

mcowned > oldgamer > A420

As to the topic I'm glad to see this. There is lots of stupid/wrong shit that cops do. Where I disagree with some here is the assertion that all cops are worthless or the hard-on some have for wanting to shoot cops.

Good morning..

I just watched that video in the news report dmcowen674. I think this guy will have the charges dropped against him. As soon as he does he needs to sue.

Here is one link to something that I found much more disturbing:

Ohio Officer withheld over 220 gigabytes of video and audio evidence from defense attorneys and got caught.

It is a lengthy read so anyone can go to the news site to read. This guy was quoted cussing out his superiors and telling them "who the fuck do you think your messing with". Not too mention he withheld these tapes as his own personal collection that show him outright abusing citizens when detaining them. He collected so much on the PD computers it became a drag on their computer systems and he even kept a bunch of personal tapes he made on his own personal laptop. He is being told to delete it all at one point, and to get rid of it. They knew about this yet did nothing for years. Now all his cases are coming under question.

much respect, its gained a sticky......thats huge.

Actually I am fine with this. This isn't a stickied thread. This is just one continuous thread, and its a place where I and others can put all the news reports that relate to police misconduct and no one should be complaining after this. Thats the goal. Folks can discuss all links and news here. If anyone wants to thread crap or troll, they get to have some time out. See? Winwin!

I prefer a thread for each. For a couple reasons.

1. Discussion of each individually.
2. So the sheer volume of incidents will be noticed.

Yes but then we would have about 3 folks complain about spamming, so this takes care of their whining...lol

Exactly Say OG post a topic and I have one thats just as egregious, if I post it folks will be responding to it as well in the same thread at the same time, and there might be one or two more. How are suppose to know what's new to what topic? Or keep track of the discussion. No one sees this as a problem?

I suppose what will happen is it will limit the complaints about police because no one is going to want to see their thread disappear into a mass of chat.

I just don't understand why folks complain about a thread that they don't have to read. Makes no sense to me.

Thanks

I have to say I 100% agree with these points here for I think they are very important points.
And I agree with what someone else pointed out, if you don't like a thread, you don't have to read it, its not a requirement. There is something to be said for personal decision making skills, something that would not affect others while being exercised.

no sense in arguing it now, it's done.

BUT, you have to admit, each thread is the same "OMG look waht they did!" and then a brief discussion on the merits of the specific case...then 5-10 pages about how people want to "start an american spring"
