is it just me or does that patch just create problems? I have had no major bugs in the game until after I installed the patch. I also installed the 6.5 catalyst for ati so I don't know what's causing these crashes. I am now crashing almost at every door that needs to load. I just lost 8 hours of progress becuase my autosave became corrupted AND the one that I normally save one! From now on I'm saving like crazy and only using new save. That's bull that I have to go back and do about 8 hrs worth of stuff.
Summon Skelly - Mystic Emporium across the street from Edgar's Discount in Imp City. He has Summon Zombie too, if that floats your boat.

i have done this also
. . . fortunately you can compress those 8 hours into less than 4 now thay you know what to do [usually].
do NOT save OVER your old saves . . . they tend to get corrupted . . . i have about 1,100 saves . . . backed to DVD and deleted to save time.
and i found a 'summon' spell in Cheydenhal [of all places] . . . they might be level-dependent [Lichs, etc.] . . .
and i am STILL finding 'new' Oblivion gates . . . close to 80 unique gates [in the exact places where there were NO gates many hours ago] .
do NOT forget the 'heaven stones' . . . they confir some awesome - if short - powers . . . i finally got them all.
and i completed 'cast outta the mages/fighter's Guilds' . . . damn slow-ass White Horse got in the way of a fight and i killed it . . . [104 Quests, so far] . . . i lost Shadowmere a 'month' ago near Goblin Jim's Cave and can't find it anywhere [i ran across her in a corrupted save, but can't duplicate it]
apoppin , one quick question...after you backed up your save files "like 1100" did you manually go through and delete them all IN GAME, or go into the folder and delete them all with a select all and delete???
I've been able to keep all of my saves to about 250 by overwriting them. And I've not had any trouble with any corrupt files yet.

Thanks for the tips guys on the summon skellie spell. I'll need to go check that out when i have time.
As for lockpicks... you can either buy them from your fence, or outside the imperial city wall, there's a shady merchant that sells them (just go to the stables just outside of the city walls, and follow the wall on your right until you run into him).

When starting up the game with the latest patch, I go to the character screen to make a character, but the right hand side of the screen is black (as I recall you could see a picture of what each character looks like).

My C:/ > Program Files > Bestheda Softworks > Oblivion > Data > Data folder has nothing in it.
Is this how it's supposed to be? The game runs fine, but I have problems installing any texture mods that require you to "replace" files, becuase there are no other files there to replace.

Yes, "vanilla" Oblivion starts out empty in the Data folder. The mods you download will create the necessary files if those files are not already there from other mods you put in. Those texture mods either create a "textures\landscape" or "textures\landscapelod" folder depending on which one you've downloaded. BTW, I hope you downloaded OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager), very useful utility and will save you the hassles with putting in and deleting mods manually. Go to elderscrolls forums for the details...its an essential utility IMO.

OB Mods FAQs read it and reread it. The patch has caused some mods to not work properly due to updated files and OBMM will easily solve that problem for you. OBMM download links are provided here too.

How to create omods using OBMM
With a 9500Pro, you're likely to run that on very low settings if any settings at all. You're likely gonna have to resort to "oldblivion", you can go to the elderscrolls forum to read up on that. For medium settings, I'd suggest at least a X1600PRO 512MB for AGP or 7600gt for PCI-E if you decide that route. Might want to up that ram to at least 1 gig too. This game is not meant to be played on such old cards, you'll be missing out way too much.

Mehunes Razor Plugin is AWSOME! the BEST so far.
about 4 hours [maybe more . . . i found a lot of 'secret' stuff] for me . . . it is a HUGE dungeon/cave/alyied ruin and SO MUCH gear i couldn't get all the good stuff in 3 trips!!!
[and i make 4x272 feather points of Potion +600 points of feather in stacked spells + 6x125 points of feather in Gear]
Mehunes' Razor itself didn't impress me but the Maze, puzzles and setup did. . . . although it is "spoon fed" to you, the quest is better than the last two 'shopping lists'.
Worth $3 if HL2Ep is worth $8.

This is one of the best games I have ever played, the world is beyond massive, and you never know what you're going to run into. Met 3 minotaurs & a unicorn in a glade, got my ass beat down, took 3 tries to take them all out. Finally went back to kvatch, cleared the square pretty easily with an hammer of shock, nice little weapon.
I just need to keep about 20 soul gems (stones?) with me, and not petty.

i actually got it the minute it came out . . . yesterday morning . . . i refreshed the plugin page and it 'appeared'
they are gonna get $2 or $3 out of me every few weeks
totally worth it IF it is like Mehunes Razor . . . that cave will be more popular than Rockmilk for awesome gear
Strangely, i got *everything* in the plugin that the other guys in the Oblivion Forum did - and was the first to post finding Weighless Wristbands for "pure" mages and a couple of *secret closets* and the jewels hidden in the rafters you have to jump to see . . .
. . . after nearly 600 hours in Oblivion, i am starting to think like i actually live there

it's the other way round for me . . . Steam FINALLY finished updating [i hope] and am off to play Ep1 . . . i paid $7.99 for it at CC and it arrived today . . .
