Very disheartening, considering the length of buildup for this game. Was really looking forward to playing it.

Why can't devs/publishers ever be honest about these situations, though? This was a game that was supposed to stress quad-core PCs; how exactly is the game more suited to lesser hardware and lower resolutions? They can't expect anybody to believe that line.

I don't think they're talking about the hardware, I think they're referencing the cinematic experience of the game is tailored to a large screen rather than smaller PC monitor.

I agree they could still obviously give you the option, but, I sort of get what they're implying anyway.

That sounds like bs that PR came up with. I think it's more likely they don't have the funding for devs to port the game.

I do get what they're implying - that big screens are better. This goes for almost any game, though.
I ignored that part for a reason :p, there are just too many holes in it IMO (how about limit it only to folks who have 40" screens then? And can you not use any of these displays on a PC if you really want to?)... it just seems completely arbitrary.

Agreed. It's a contrived excuse they're using instead of really saying what the issue is (piracy concerns, lack of sales on the platform, etc). Who are they to say what size screen I need to have to enjoy something? That's like 20th Century Fox saying they aren't going to release Avatar on DVD because it can only truly be enjoyed on the silver screen.

MS just wants to screw Windows gamers to sell more shitty 360s.

Their official excuse is an idiotic lie, no one believes it.

It was news months ago. Remedy was making a PC version and MS forced them to cancel it.

I really laughed at this...big screen? How many console owners do they think have BIG SCREENS??? Besides myself (60 inch DLP), everyone I know that owns a console is playing on a 34 inch or lower LCD/CRT...so thats just BS.

And granted most computer monitors are 22 inches or lower Im guessing, its not like we sit on a couch 15 feet away when we use them...Ive never played a game on my monitor/PC and thought..."that would have been A LOT better on my 60 inch!"...

PC market is too comeptitive for them, at least for right now. Their game likely sucks and the hype died down after so many years. The only reason why it got so much of the spot light was because it was announced at the time quad core CPU's were being introduced into the market years ago when there wasn't much in terms of visual advancement. Now all you have is likely another medicore survivor-horror-drama (who the hell knows what) game which the market is saturated with. They missed their chance 3 years ago and they know it.

I'm inclined to agree with this. The TV excuse is absolutely terrible, hell, I have my PC hooked up to my 42" HDTV and with my wireless kb/mouse I often sit on my couch and game on my TV. I remember Alan Wake being introduced and all the hype about it requiring quad cores.. that was actually why I decided to pick up a Q6600 for this system. Now, it's been too late, the game has been overhyped for years and I just don't see how it can live up to it. It's a shame, I'd still like to play it, and maybe I'll just find a friend with a 360 to borrow. Weak all the way around.

This would be quite funny if it were came about as being true. Makes me think...I mean, sure there is PC pirating, but that doesnt count for "OMFG HAX0RZ!!!11" amount of game sells as they want us to believe.

Plus in my opinion, although this is quite the obvious, but I can see a game like this just being that much better due to the graphical upgrade it would have...more light sources, more textures, more enemies on screen, better draw distance...I mean, a game like this really needs to be on PC to truly show itself off...oh well...another game I won't get to play.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does come out for the PC a year+ after it is released on the 360. MS just wants everyone to buy their console to play it.

1- Reason is BS.
2- The game doesn't seem anything special.
3- (very likely) They will port it to PC 6 months after 360 debut.

I thought this about Gears of War 2 also. I believe MS is just trying to score more exclusives really. This is their answer to Heavy Rain on the PS3. The difference here is that Sony is actually producing their own AAA titles in-house and MS is writing big checks to ensure it stays an exclusive for their console.

The relatively low PC sales of some games are probably just not worth the development costs in porting and marketing.

I remember when people bought quad cores because of this game. They also stated how it was going to beat Crysis in graphics and would be a showcase for the PC. If I go through the forum history I can probably find specific people.

What tools.

Disappointing, but not too much of a surprise. The PS3 had a number of good exclusives in 2009, while the 360 did not. That coupled with the release of the PS3 Slim took a bite out of MS' lead over Sony, so it's no surprise that they would fight back in 2010.

What's worst is that PC gamers are Microsoft customers. They are screwing over their own Windows users in favor of their console. Their OS users have been longer customers and made them tons of money, but MS stabs them in the back for a money losing console.

Few PC gamers are using Sony PCs, but 99% of PC gamers are using Windows. Yet MS is the one who is screwing over PC gamers.

Back in July 15, 2009 - Remedy wanted to make it for the PC, but since they were consumed by Microsloth - it would be up to the big software giant.

HALO followed the same path - it was slated for the PC until Microsloth wanted it as an Xbox exclusive [which eventually it was "ported" back to the PC].

shrug.

This is actually going to be released???

I thought Microsoft was jealous of Duke Nukem Forever and decided to make their own version.
