I'm not too impressed with it but I don't think that the size of the controller will be too much of a problem. It's probably going to be no different than playing on a portable system. But I would prefer something more ergonomic. I really liked the feel of the Gamecube controllers with their grips.

Purbeast, please, continue with your incessant whining and bitching. I find your posts very interesting as they are valuable contributions to this thread.

that is great, this is a conference discussion thread, and i'm discussing my opinions on the conference.

graphics look impressive, if it was released in 1998.

Ah, I just figured out the "killer app" for this new controller.

The ability to continue playing the game while going to the bathroom.

wow so the wii u can display pre-rendered videos ... AMAZING!!

EDIT: or maybe they were showing us it can actual play HD videos?

The controller I think will be a lot like playing on an Ipad except with additional non-touchscreen buttons. A lot of people are used to touch screen controls now so it shouldn't be too hard to introduce to the market.

I would be skeptical of the new control scheme, but I was skeptical of the Wii-mote when I first saw it and that worked out fine...

Well the name is stupid, but that actually seems like it could be a pretty cool system if developers utilize it correctly.

OK, I have to admit, having the Alien-style motion detector on your controller would be pretty cool. 🙂

There's another thing. Any game where you want local multiplayer but some information needs to be kept private for each player. Just as an example, any card game on a standard console would only be playable by one person because with more than that you'd be able to see everyone else's cards. With the Wii U, you could play a game of poker, Scrabble, or any number of other games locally with friends without seeing each other's hands.

Maybe the biggest implication, though, is that Nintendo will finally have the power necessary to run the big cross platform games. So far this generation, the Wii has generally gotten dumbed-down versions of the popular games, with the "definitive" version landing on 360 and PS3 only. This might bring Nintendo back to last gen when a lot of games were basically the same on the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. At least until the PS4 and Xbox 720 come out, which could be several years away.

HOLY SHIT. Metro Last light?

Good god, Microsoft and Sony should be shaking in their boots right now

From the titles they are announcing here it looks like there will me much more for the hardcore audience this time around.

Batman, Dirt, Darksiders, Etc...

So basically, Darksiders II, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed, Dirt, Ghost Recon, Aliens, Metro: Last Light... damn.

damn ... they do have a lot of third party support. wonder if it will last though.

but why would i buy those games on wii u when i could get em on ps3 or 360 w/better graphics, better controls, and better online?

Yes... controls, and online that you haven't even used yet? Purbeast, your "opinions" here are stellar. Not unfounded at all.
