Well I was thinking that whoever won the 2nd game in the Preds/Wings series would end up winning the series. We'll see if that turns out to be true. The Preds really need Hal Gill in game 3.

What a bullshit call on Dubinsky. 🙄

I agree, but it's pretty much automatic. It doesn't matter than Boyle was laying there like a namby pamby, Dubinsky is still the third man in. I'm pretty sure the game misconduct on the Senator was intended to offset that. I think he would have only gotten the instigator, fighting major and 10 minute misconduct otherwise.

I agree he was the third man, but come on. Boyle got blasted in the face twice (more like sucker punched), dropped, and then hit 5 or 6 more times before Dubinsky jumped on top. Dubinsky may have swung, but nothing compared to what the Ottawa player already got in. Yet they still got the same penalty called. Please.

It's a hell of a game though!

Well, Rangers did get a 5 minute power play out of it.

The rule does allow for referee discretion, but they don't really exercise it. Same thing happened a few weeks ago in the Devils-Rangers game, although in that case it was only a 10 minute misconduct.

Edit: to clarify - wasn't exactly the same situation in the Devils-Rangers game, but Salvador had a justifiable reason to intervene and didn't throw any punches.

I was wondering why the ref hadn't stopped it by that point. Usually as soon as one guy is on the ground, they wrap them up and seperate.

Smith embellished it, but he had every right to.

Another pretty frustrating game to watch. I came home from work, passed out, and woke up at about the 12 minute mark of the first period. The Hawks were up 1-0 and I figured they must have been righted the ship.

But, no. They haven't righted anything. There's ZERO continuity between the hawks star offensive players. Hossa, Kane, Sharp.... You hardly notice them doing anything. Defensively Pheonix is playing them perfectly. And, for God's sake, move someone out from in front of the net once in a while, guys.

I heard a hockey conversation where they were talking about why the Hawks didn't make more moves and the consensus was that the Hawks minor league system is incredibly stacked, and they didn't want to deal any of the rising stars who wil make up the new core in a year or two. I really hope that's true.

Yes fuck Keith but more importantly fuck this league. It's coming on to 3 years now for this raging debate on headshots and blindside hits, it's quite literally been the same since.

Agree. They say they are cracking down on it, but they still happen, so nothing has really changed.

Get rid of the hard plastic armor, and make the suspensions serious.

Man, what the frack are theses guys doing?

The normal crisp tic-tac-tac passing ain't there. Hell, they're having trouble connecting on one clean pass.

Funny these goaltenders can take 100 mph pucks, but someone hitting them face mask to face mask at 10 mph causes near death until it is announced that there is a 5 minute major accessed with a game misconduct when suddenly you are no longer walking toward the light, hearing the voices of your long lost loved ones. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes you tell the backup goalie to get the fuck out of here and are ready to resume play without even a moment to collect your thoughts. The Coyotes must have some of that soccer magic sponge and magic spray bottle hidden somewhere.

What is also funny is the other guy that suffered this near death face mask to face mask hit without the goalie equipment on, skated away unscathed. It must be in the genes.

EDIT: I would have given Shaw a 2 minute minor until I saw the flop job which would have gotten its own 2 minutes.

Wow what a freaking game. I don't like that the Preds basically just stayed back on defense for the last period but I'm sure Detroit had a lot to do with that. Hal Gill needs to get back quick.
