canes pick up andreas nodl...im not sure why, theyre a team full of 3rd and 4th liners.

maybe theyre looking to move 2 or 3 people at once to try and bring in a forward and wanted the extra body? no idea.
/first game with the new coach happening now v panthers

I maintain that all circumstances surrounding the Letang head hit were incidental. Letang did leave himself open, his head may not have shifted significantly during the shot but it did shift continually down the entire time Pac was lining up the hit, and I don't buy the weight shift onto the right leg proves he was targeting the head argument. 3 games is ridiculous. You could make an extremely good argument for a one game suspension as punishment for being reckless. Stewart got 3 games for his absurdly deliberate and overt crushing Kronwall into boards head first, tracking him from behind the entire time. He knew what he was doing. That was the worst hit all season second maybe to what Wis did. How can Shanhammer possibly expect us to believe Pac's hit was as bad as this (or that Stewart didn't deserve far more)? This is just Toronto shooting from the hip like they always do.

Hoping the Oil can pull off a miracle against the Wild again tonight.

Only team worse than us in the last ten games is the Ducks.

When the Oilers have a good game, it's a great game.

But the rest of the games, we just suck, and pretty much give the win away, much like we did last year all season.

Really was hoping to be able to have half a hope of making the playoffs after our good start, but my initial belief that the good times would end badly is proving to be rather true at this point :\

i picked up several oilers on my fantasy team, because my draft choices ended up starting so bad.

might have to give one or two of them up /hopes not

changing coaches seemed to have lit a fire under the collective ass of the hurricanes last night, im interested to see what happens through december.

also interested to see what, if anything, happens to kaberle. the GM has come out and said that he didnt show up prepared for camp and still hasnt caught up, and could very well have his spot taken by someone else (But i dont know who will take his contract at this point)

Well Smyth has had a fantastic season in his return to Edmonton, which has been great to see for us fans of him 😀

The Nuge has been very impressive in his debut season thus far as well, far more than Hall was to me last season.

Eberle's been great as well; never tire of watching his moves up close by the net.

We've got much-improved D-men from last season, when they aren't almost all hurt.

So there is a lot to enjoy watching for sure. Just annoying to see losing when it really looks like with more effort we could be winning.

It will be interesting to see how the coaching changes for your 'Canes, and for the Caps, affect things.
I suppose a shake up can sometimes be a good thing 🙂

As a Canucks fan who loves watching the world junior hockey championship every year, I am envious of the Oilers with Eberle, Hall, and Nugent-Hopkins.

The Oilers have "Penguins" written all over them in that they tank for several years, line up a bunch of 1st overall picks, then get really good. I thought this was their year when they started off so strongly, but maybe not.

Well Boudreau got his wish of getting back to coaching sooner than later 😱

No downtime there!

I don't think that goes well. Ryan and Perry are not the kind of players who will take being berated very much. Boudreau is a good coach, but like Hitch and Keenan, he will wear out his welcome faster than normal.

won't happen...

boudreau is still under contract with the caps, but has been relieved of his coaching duties.

why does this matter? any team who wants to speak to boudreau, needs to get permission from the caps

so what? The caps won't give the avs permission since we have the avs 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. in short, the caps won't do anything to help the avs succeed this season.

So whatever you were talking about here was clearly incorrect. ANA didn't need to do anything or negotiate with washington to get a contract with Boudreau.

Maybe Avs can get Carlyle now

oh really?

Real_ESPNLeBrun Pierre LeBrun

Am told Anaheim reached out to Washington on Monday for permission to talk to Boudreau not too long after he was fired by the Caps

until carlyle's contract is bought out, or a team asks for permission, it will not happen period

Rutherford is a fuckin' idiot. First he overpays TK by giving him $4.2 mil/year... next he's badmouthing him in the press... Yeah, forget about any chance of moving that guy.

I love it!

i think they pay him 4.5....which they did right after saying they wouldnt pay that for the only winger we currently had that worked semi-well with staal in the previous season. not that i think erik cole is worth what he gets in montreal, but i would have rather had him than kabs given the price (maybe)

that being said...its been obvious that kaberle hasnt been worth his contract to start the year and i cant imagine anyone would have wanted to take on that deal as bad as he has been. i do not, however, disagree with you entirely...bad mouthing the guy at this point isnt necessary, but at least he didnt bullshit around.

hurricanes fall to the pens. cant complain much, overall they looked pretty decent and played hard throughout the game. shame the PP isnt better (still mostly crap, even with a 6 on 3) or they might have at least taken it to overtime.

im happy at this point that they are consistently playing hard and setting up some good plays.

Tonight's Bruins/Pens game a preview of the ECF?

Go Bs!

Yeah very well might be.

But it's still early.

That said, the Bruins look unstoppable at this point. I'd be surprised if they don't make it deep into the playoffs again, and the Pens looks excellent as well.
