the local hockey community and everyone in general in this area is shocked at the passing of the OHL Windsor Spitfires' captain Mickey Renaud... 19 years old, sudden death at home... no cause determined as of yet....

RIP Mickey

Wow, that was looking like it was going to be a real bummer of a game. Buffalo down 3-1 with less than 2:30 to go. Then our $10 million man earns some of his salary, scoring twice in 36 seconds to tie the game, then gets the game winner in OT for the natural hat trick. Woohoo!

Ugh Sharks have been playing like utter garbage lately. I hope we can turn things around.

Any rumors or speculations of big trades? The deadline is coming up!

OMG

David Pollak reports Sharks GM Doug Wilson won't allow the team's recent tailspin to pressure him into make a deadline deal. The Sharks have been linked to the Sabres Brian Campbell and the Lightning's Dan Boyle.

Pollak also reports Wilson isn't commenting on rumors that had him shipping Patrick Marleau and Matt Carle to Florida for Olli Jokinen or Atlanta for Marian Hossa. Pollak writes it's believed Wilson's priority is to land a defenseman, not a forward.

Anyone see the Calgary/Red Wings game?

Holy shit, that game was pure luck for calgary, total of 38 shots (40 if you include the 2 posts) and they wings were shut out by 1 fluke goal, that was sent a centering pass by alex tanguay from behind the net that was deflected into the air off datsyuk's stick came down hitting lebda's chest and bouncing over the top of osgood and into the net; an entirely fluke goal. On top of all this, chelios will probably be out for a few games (this is unconfirmed) after taking a blocking a blue line shot that hit him in the back of the knee in an unpadded area; wing's a short enough on defense men as is. I was rather surprised that kopecky wasn't injured when he was head was crushed into the boards on a dirty play; he had already lost an edge and slid into the boards and then Lambardi (I think it was) decided to finish the check anyway and got every piece his body on his head.

Take that dennil 😛
Emery is a joke.

Ottawa will never win until they get a goaltender and can roll more than 1 good line.

Detroit getting owned by one of the better goalies in the game is pure luck? Someone's a sore loser.

Detroit fans can't grasp the idea that their team will lose in the playoffs.

How does a fluke goal against a team define kiprusoff as the better goalie? I'll admit he played outstanding but so did osgood in that game with the only goal in the game against him being something completely unpredictable.

I watch hockey for the love of the game not fore pure fanaticism of a team. I'd be happy with them making it somewhere in the playoffs, if they lose in the playoffs clearly someone has the better team and deserves the cup more than them.[/quote]

Who got the shut out? That basically defines it.
Kiprusoff is the better of the two goalies in net that night.

The shut out wouldn't have happened if the fluke goal wasn't scored the game would have continued into a overtime if not a shootout. Had the goal been an actual attempt by a calgary player I would agree with you. Both played outstanding games otherwise; with no one being the better goalie because I find fluke goals like that just completely unfair to any goalie.

I don't just watch the wings ya' know 😉 Although I do enjoy the wings more than any other team but I'm not just a fan of them(but most of that is just a given because I'm from michigan).

Yea I understand the whole fluke argument. In the end, Kiprusoff is overall the better goalie.
I'd take Kiprusoff over Osgood anyday of the week.

I'm taking the Kings to win the cup!

Now that the Canucks Defence is finally intact, it should be rock solid until the Playoffs(barring injuries). The only player the Canucks really miss now is Morrison.

LOL you should have heard the debates we had going last night about whether or not Lidstrom has a concussion... talk about a lot of Wings fans foaming at the mouth in vehement denial of the possibility... hehehhe

guess you had to be there but it was quite entertaining to see a Habs and a Wings fan chirp each other 🙂
