Hell of a game tonight. I could easily see how badly the Colts are missing their key players, but they still did fairly well overall. Defense kept after Schaub, but I was surprised that they didn't get more sacks than they did. I guess that's also due to so many missing regulars.
 
I saw about half of the game here and there for MNF. Colts did awesome. A lot of newbs stuck it out and showed they can play too.
Saw the Saints game last night. What a relief. Finally they work on a team's weakness rather than fight their strengths. Hopefully for them it's a matter of getting their offensive rhythm down. Their defense looked good even during the losses.
 
Glad I didn't watch, sounds like texas provided a snoozer.


Anyone catch the game on the new espn stream?

ok, ill give you that, but its still pretty crazy this year with all the ups and down and all the teams doing the exact opposite of what we expected from them.
 
The game last night shows why Peyton Manning is the best player in the NFL. It is almost unfair to give him another MVP award, but he probably deserves it.

I will say the Colts pass defense did a great job. As I predicted (and the Colts must have too), Houston came out throwing and the D stopped them repeatedly. I question not only Kubiak's clock management, but his game plan. When Foster ran last night, he had no problems gaining yards. Had Kubiak gone to him earlier and more consistently, the game might have been very different.

Yeah, unfortunately, it will catch up with them. Collie, Clark, Addai and Bullitt are huge injuries, along with what seem to be perpetual injuries to guys like Sanders, Gonzalez, Brown and Garcon. Not to mention their LBs being banged up earlier in the year.

They'll make the playoffs and maybe win the AFC South. I think the injuries will eventually catch up to them and mean an early exit in the playoffs. The key will be the defense. Houston had no problem running the ball on them last night; the problem was that Houston didn't run it consistently early and that was a fatal mistake.

I have not seen the colts play that much this year, but the way you talked about them, you would have thought the defense was the worst in the league. the defense looked pretty good to me, the pass rush was crazy good. i swear schaub only had like 1.5 seconds to throw the ball each time before someone was in his face.

i used to hate manning. i had no reason to, i just didnt like him. over the last few years i found myself starting to like him even though i told myself i didnt want to like him. i have turned the corner and i have been a fan for a couple years now. the dude is amazing, and it is really hard to not like the guy.

Should have seen what Mathis and Freeny did to Peyton's little brother Eli. They were practically part of the Giants backfield for that game. Those guys are incredible pass rushers. But Indy's defense isn't built to plug running holes. Indy is built to contain and hope the offense puts more points on the board than the other other team. If the other team gets a chance to employ a power running game Indy is in trouble. You aren't going to win trying to outpass them.

The defense played well last night, particularly on the pass. They've played two good games this year -- this one and against the Giants. Make no mistake -- their defense is bad and you caught a good game. I am hoping the performance last night is the norm going forward. Their pass rush is always good, but that is the only consistent part of their defensive game.

The pass defense hasn't played well this year, but they played exceptionally well last night. Odd considering 2 of their top 3 corners are injured and not playing. I wonder what that means for Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey when they return?

The rush defense was bad and fortunately, Houston didn't try to pound it earlier and allowed the Colts to build a big lead. Otherwise it would have been a different game.

When I start thinking about life post-Manning, I get depressed. I think we have 5 more years or so and then the Colts will be back to being bad or mediocre.

I think everyone knew Houston was going to come out passing to try to "fool" the Colts. It obviously didn't work. I don't know why Kubiak didn't pound the ball earlier because when Foster did run, he had no problem gaining yards.

i felt the same way as a packers fan for years when brett was nearing the end of his packers career. i thought there was no way we would ever be able to get a guy as good as him, but it worked out ok for us. I feel pretty fortunate that we got rodgers, because i look at teams like the bears who have struggled for decades trying to find a QB and i feel pretty lucky.
 
Lol, listening to some DC area podcast from yesterday and shannahan is getting absolutely skewered. And since this is a bye week for them, the lulz as it gets to continue for two weekends till the next game is priceless.
 
Oh baby, who knew we'd have something more epic than the moss fiasco. After benching d.f.m., now mikey decides to bring in Russell for a tryout. So can't wait till I watch pti tonight.

i doubt very much russell will be signed, i wonder what other free agents they brought in today? redskins website reported that they had several in today
 
i do not believe he is trying to get rid of him. i think he is trying to send message to him. andy reid did same thing to him few years ago. benched him then brought him back.

Send him a msg? I've seen this in several places today.... Exactly how do you think you are sending a 12(?) year veteran, with 5(?) NFC championship appearences and a pile of pro-bowls, not to mention a completely professional player/person a msg like this? It's the dumbest idea ever. If McNabb were some hot-headed, 3yr year QB with no experience under his belt and little to show on the accomplishment chart, sure. But not a player with McNabb's credentials.

Edit: I also think it is about as dumb of an idea as you can get having a father/son combo like that. I think it has more potential negatives than positives.

Well, if the message is, "We're not happy with your level of performance. Either improve or you're gone.", even a "12 year veteran" like McNabb should be able to figure it out.
