I agree. It's been an exciting season so far, and it's getting reflected in our FF league. 3 people are 3-1, one person is 0-4, and 10 people are 2-2.

Yea in my league im 1-3 but havn't put up under 90 points. I've lost to some guys who are averaging 60 points a week. Even Peyton only put up 7 for me tonight. Its going to be a great year.

The Colts have looked like crap. They're really lucky they aren't 1-4 right now. Between the injuries, the horrible defensive play calling, and the attempt to establish a run to the detriment of the team, they have been looking very poor.

All said, was if the Saints played the way the played against the cardinals when they face the bucs, there is a pretty good change the bucs can win. This isn't the same 3-13 bucs and not the same 14-2(13-3?) saints.

No, you said
Saints lose to the cards!!!!!!!!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!! Bucs are going 4-1 boys!

But you're absolutely right, the Saints aren't playing as well as everyone thought, and the Bucs aren't looking bad. It will be a year-defining game for both of them.

What exactly happened anyways? Did the Colts lose some key players to injuries/trades? Or is it just them switching things up (and if so why change what works)?

Basically, what has changed between last year and this year that has led to the Colts failing to meet expectations?

Randy Moss rapes Revis again...anyone?

I think we'll likely see a replay of last year's NFC Championship but worse, with the Jets in the role of the Saints and delivering a severe beating on Favre. Obviously, anything can happen and any play or injury can change the game, but I would be surprised if the Jets lost.

Theyre defense is very weak as ICF likes to say due to playcalling. Also their offense hasn't been 100% to compensate all season.

I'm just curious, has their defensive coordinator lost his marbles or something? I don't really follow the Colts, but I didn't think they had a poor defense last year; are the same plays not working any more, or have they been trying to (unsuccessfully) switch the plays up?

1. Injuries have been huge with key injuries on the offensive line, running back, wide receiver, and mainly, the secondary. We had to sign Aaron Francisco off the street to be our starting safety since Bob Sanders is likely out for the season and his excellent backup, Melvin Bullitt, is also gone for the season.

Powers has been banged up as well and Kelvin Hayden has generally played like crap.

2. Trying too hard to establish the running game. Sometimes, you just have to give up and throw the ball. The Colts have tried too hard, IMO, to establish the run.

3. The defensive play calling has just been awful. The Texans game and the Jags game show this clearly.

Manning has generally been brilliant. Today was his first "bad" game of the season. I really can't put my finger on the offense's problems. The defense has just been steamrolled on a consistent basis.

Thanks for the explanation.

They were decent on defense last year, but not great. For the Colts D to be great, the idea is for the offense to get a lead and then to allow Freeney and Mathis to tee off.

Their injuries this year have just been too much to overcome in the secondary and coupled with Kelvin Hayden's boneheaded play, it has hurt them.

If I'm Bill Polian, I draft a safety or CB in the first round and then with the remainder of my picks, I go OL high and then maybe more CBs, LBs, etc.

Had Tony Ugoh panned out, we'd be in much better shape on the OL. That was one of the biggest failures in Polian's career.

The packers lost like 5 players today to injuries, god knows how long they'll be gone. Next few weeks are gonna be rough for the packs.

In 2008, the Colts started 3-4 and ended 12-4. That was with Dungy as head coach; I don't think Caldwell can have a turnaround like that. With Manning though, anything is possible. The guy is simply amazing and he is being pressured like he hasn't been since his first few years in the season.

Now, in fairness to the Chiefs, maybe they ARE better than most of us thought. I think most people thought that the Chiefs would get blasted and exposed today. They played pretty well and got good pressure on Manning, even forcing him to fumble once.

Obviously, anything can happen on any given Sunday. What I am saying, however, is that if the Falcons played the Ravens in 10 games, the Ravens are going to win 7 or 8 of them. Ditto with the Jets.

If the Bucs played the Ravens 10 games, the Ravens take 8 or 9. Ditto with the Jets.

That's what we're talking about -- the averages, not the upsets. The Ravens and Jets are simply far better teams than any in the NFC and not only that, I'd probably put the Steelers and the inconsistent Colts, Chargers, Pats, and Titans above just about any NFC team as well at this point in the season.

Packers, maybe?

The Chiefs defense was rather surprising. Their offense, on the other hand... do the receivers need Cassel to wrap the ball, put a bow on it, and walk it over to them?

next time that happens will be the first.

That look familiar?
