Kaep has always had a bigger up side than Smith ever did. Now is he ever going to reach that ceiling, I honestly think this and next year will be his make or break year. Either he elevates his game or he doesn't and I think management are willing to give him another year after this.

But man, talk about put up or shut up on the other side of the ball, WOW. Their D made a huge statement. I'll add every, single time I turn on the game to watch something BAD happens.

I turn on the game, the play that happens, Gore gets a 3-4yard rush, next play INT, AWESOME. Turn it off go out to the garage to clean up some stuff, come back and now the score is out of hand only to see Crabtree on the sideline something with an ankle issue then see Davis get drilled in the back to leave the game. Turn if off again to do other things and turn it back on to have a nail bitting experience in the last 5 min of the game from them denying the Eagles at the goal line then finally, finally closing out the game.
To say that one has a higher upside, you'll have to take everything into context and then add in your realized potential, then you'll have somewhat of a clearer picture. Upside in what? You'll have to be specific. Then, you take into consideration the down sides. Now, have fun.

I think Kaep has a ton of potential, but so did JaMarcus Russell. Kaep needs to really improve, and I wan to believe he can, because he seems like a nice guy.

I was flying Virgin America during the 49ers game.. damn thing had no service mid-way through the second quarter. 🙁

hey--me too! were you flying from SF to Austin as well? :hmm: probably different flight--I was in the air for 2nd quarter of game one, through 1st half of game 2. Service would go in and out at times, but was on for the most part.

I think Karl Rove was on this flight, 2 rows in front of me. I wanted to sucker punch him when I realized who it was.

With Kaep the 49ers went to the Super Bowl and NFC Championship game. While there are a handful of QBs that are better, the 49ers can't get any of them. Makes no sense to talk about replacing Kaep if you can't upgrade. That being said, it really was frustrating to watch the time management issues. It seems like they get to the line late all the time, so maybe its taking too long to get the plays in from the sideline. Its hard to believe they are still having this issue. This has been a problem since the beginning.

Whats really odd about the game was that if it wasn't for 2 special teams plays and a pick 6, Philly would have been shut out. So much for the vaunted Chip Kelly offense. I think the Cowboys will win the NFC East, barring a Giants super bowl run. Philly is probably all smoke and mirrors.

I don't necessarily think Kaep is entirely the problem for the time management. They are constantly late to the line and he then has to read the defense. Whoever is calling the plays is partially to blame, as it does take forever.

I think Philly is great against unconditioned defenses. While SF has it's problems, they aren't a team known to show up and then get worn down. Plus, they have some great D Line and aren't forced to rush to get pressure. That really removes a lot of the fast paced Philly offense. I've always thought Foles was a bit overrated. I am still worried the Cowboys can't keep up, as their defense might try hard, they are busted. Their secondary can be exposed.

Was returning from Vegas. Watched a good majority of the 10AM games at Caesars before departing to the airport. 49er game just started as I was boarding. Landed and got to see Stevie's touchdown and then remained at the airport to finish the game.

You have to remember the raiders after being terribad since losing the SB, finally had a respectable season with a coach that gave them a winning record against the division. They then can him and have only won as many games in the years since as he won that year.

god damn bears.

I knew it was going to happen. Their secondary is just awful and rodgers is just the man to tear them to pieces.

There was some generally terrible officiating that made the score look much worse than the actual game was. It should have been about 24-17 with packers still winning.

The officiating in general has just become awful. They keep adding too many rules and the refs are just scared about calling everything.

How does one get a defensive holding penalty on a field goal attempt?

The Niners go further with Kaep than Smith, it's been proven. When you can remove Smith's balls from your chin we could continue to talk about it. You make it a point to bring it up in almost any FB thread, we get it, you like Smith.

Do I think Kaep is the next best thing since sliced bread or the 2nd coming of PFM? Hell no. But we saw what Smith was able to do and CONTINUES to do in KC vs what Kaep has shown the potential to do. The book is closed on Smith, Kaep still has a year or to left to write his narrative.

Bostic grabbed a hold of jersey to give Mundy room to get to kicker. while he didnt hold in the split second of the penalty they will call that most of the time. That one was Bostic being young and it will teach him something hopefully.

I had no problem with going for onside. Great call on a tendancy. The sweet play to Jeffrey that I called trestman for being a genious on was in fact copied from either AZ or STL both have run it.

Agree on the secondary I just had hoped foolishly that bears would win a shootout but Rodgers just wont play that bad twice in a row. Guy is best in league at reading and taking what defence gives you when he has time.

Bears GOT ZERO QB hits with the lone sack going to Ego on a scramble where double check ran out of bounds..

Bears were Vanilla like a college team. Blitzed a few times and lined up blitz and covered a few times but Rodgers read it like it didnt matter. Guy Shredded bears. One of the most dominant QB performances I have ever seen. 6 in completions all day three were drops.

Bears Defence without Allen was worse than last year. He at least required attention springing Willie and Houston has been a quiet flop. Houston should be moved into the DT rotation till old man is back.

Cowboys can score on anyone, so their defense doesn't have to be top notch, just good enough in spots. Kinda like when Green Bay and New Orleans won their recent super bowls. You never know with the Cowboys though...they could be peaking too soon.

Murray having phenomenal games with Jim Brown numbers certainly aren't hurting them. Having a running game doing so well will certainly help Romo hit his targets better. One on one coverage with Dez Bryant is pretty close to a sure thing. They have shown they can shootout with the best of them (them being PFM last year...), so we'll see. They have a pretty soft schedule for the rest of the season (mostly NFC East with the Seahawks, Cardinals, and Colts being the only real worrisome teams).

I 100% put the blame on the D line. Zero qb hits. you have have have to pressure Rodgers, or he will make impossible throws. you certainly cant give him all day like we did, no secondary can do that

you cant cover against aaron Rodgers for very long

everyone agreed that while the hold was technically a correct call, its a BS flag to throw, he barely engaged the other player, who didn't even attemped to go after mundy

they had 2 terrible drive continuing spots where jordy and Rodgers were clearly short by a yard or more, and spotted it for the first down. when an announcer is questioning something involving Rodgers you know its bad

yes there was the hands to face call, and the iffy hit on cutler at the end of the run(but he already had the first by a long while)

overall it was poor reffing anyways, I do believe the bears got the worst of it

This is pretty much the reason they lost. Along with Cutler's INTs. It wasn't that they had zero sacks, it was they had zero hits. Rodgers was untouched. I have been critical of Jared Allen not getting to the QB in time the past couple weeks, but he would have been a tremendous help even hurrying Rodgers some in this game.

What got the Bears was critical turnovers, when you gain 225+yds rushing, hold a +10 minute time of possession advantage, ring up 490+yds of total offense and wind up losing, I blame turnovers. But also I do agree that you have to pressure a QB like Rodgers, if you don't, you get burned.

That possession time is misleading. GB did not punt the entire game, and it wasn't because of turnovers. GB was scoring efficiently using the passing game. Of course, Bears had to ball more. GB just marched down the field with ease every possession.

Oh, OK, the game wasn't on TV here so I just got to watch the highlights on ESPN.

This is what I was thinking...and this reminds me of the Lions and their early "peaks".

Truth is (and I really don't meant to knock the 3 wins the Boys have), they lost to SanFran, but beat Tennessee, the Rams, and the road-weary Saints (what I still consider a legitimate win, however).

Considering that this team has been terrible for like ten billion years, its best to wait until December.

I look at it in the same way the Texans have their record. The difference is in today's game, offense can carry you a lot farther than defense. At some point in the season, defense really falls off. Look at the capable defenses a few years ago of the Seahawks, Browns, Rams, etc.

Not surprised with how poorly Manuel has been playing. In the draft thread, I mentioned hating to give up next year's 1st for Watkins and this right here is why.

He had to bench Manuel, Buffalo has a lot of talent across the board but you need a stable QB to win some games, maybe Orton's no top-ten QB but they are thinking he won't hurt them with dumb throws..
