I don't understand, how does being in a division that is "historically bad" make their schedule easier? Their schedule is mostly determined by a rotation. They happen to be playing the NFC East this year, which is awful. They're also playing the AFC South which is not great. They get Cleveland and Buffalo because all three teams finished last in their division last year.

it makes their schedule easy (I suppose this is better understood from Denver's perspective) because you assume that 6 games are guaranteed wins.

Yes, that argument isn't as good from one of the expected shitty team's perspectives, because the shit teams should be equally bad--so those 6 games are toss-ups?

Alex Smith is doing what he does best... he doesn't gamble with bad deep throws, and can run a bit. I never liked him in SanFran, but he's a pretty decent QB.

He was what...15-2 under Harbaugh? Let's just forget those earlier years...

Smith is good with a good team. He isn't going to carry a team, though. He would have won 3 championships with Brady's Pats.

I didn't forget about those years, but IIRC, he was drafted higher than Aaron Rogers and was projected to be better QB, so he didn't live up to the potential we thought he would.

I hate the term "game manager", but he's being allowed to check down and dink and dunk to death and play a very conservative game, which I am a fan of personally.

well, by "earlier years," I meant pre-Harbaugh--and yes, especially terrible considering he was one of those that went ahead of Rodgers.

Granted, I'm not sure if that Bizarro World Rodgers would be the same as the current Real World Rodgers, not having had the opportunity to sit behind Favre for a few years and learn.

I guess Chip Kelly figures that having a winded defense by the 2nd quarter won't be a problem in the NFL, if he can just get his offense to score on 2-3 minute drives every time they have the ball.

Of course, this all falls for shit when the other team decides to engineer drives of 10 minutes so that your offense never really gets a chance to score.

Granted, Philly really did kill themselves on turnovers, but his system has been exposed rather early on.

The frustrating things is that Skins D was supposed to be the big improvement from the missing piece last season--starters returning from injury and all that, but they have looked like a joke. Hall is just, just....gah.

But, to be fair, they opened the season against the current leading rusher and leading wideout in the league, against a team making a statement (that statement seems now more like a whimper, but was it more the Skins D or the talent they were facing?)

And the second game was against a rather angry Aaron Rodgers rebounding from a pasting at SF. So...yeah.

hopefully this will be more even. Calvin will still get his 200 yards, though

I personally hate this whole "let's attempt to give NFL Network relevance by forcing a Thursday night series" thing.

The only thing that irritates me more is their horribly shallow attempt to convince people that they also stream the game online as well. Yeah, no. What they do with the online stream is an insult to football fans. If I wanted to watch commentators all night long, I'd turn on fucking CSPAN.

...and RG3 just isn't himself so far. Guess former players are correct -- its one thing to physically rebound from an injury, but the mental rebound is a different story...guys falling near your knee, having to make lateral cuts on a dime at times, I can see why he doesn't trust it yet.

But Shanny did play him unnecesarily in the playoffs and my stomach cringed to see he knee buckle like that trying to recover that ball.

I like RG, and want to see him back.... but not this week, of course.

Stafford needs to get it together if we're gonna win. I have faith in him, but he has to start putting the ball between the numbers more often.

No, they're not forcing me to watch it. They're doing the exact opposite: They're forcing me to NOT watch it. It's a "premium" pay channel. Instead of the game being on CBS or FOX like it should be, it's now on a SECOND, DIFFERENT premium pay TV channel that often isn't even included in basic expanded cable packages. It's bad enough the ESPN gets the Monday night games now, but at least I don't have to pay "extra" extra to get that with my cable package in order to watch the Monday night games. I have absolutely no other alternative (other than piracy, which isn't something I'll stoop to) to watch the Thursday night games.

believe it or not...I'm too ADD for Redzone.

I prefer my click back and forth between 2 games method. Otherwise I don't remember what's happening in what game.

I prefer Sunday Ticket GameMix (aka: The ADHD Channel) over RedZone (aka: The ADD Channel).

Football is pretty much the only sport we give a shit about in our house. That's not to say I don't enjoy hockey, but I hardly ever watch it because I just don't watch TV that much anyway. Football is about the only thing I actually devote TV time for. There's no point in paying extra for one game a week and a bunch of other channels I don't give a crap about.

But I assume you understand now my frustration with what the NFL is trying to do in order to give their NFL Network some semblance of "relevance".

I get that it kind of sucks since the broadcasters are retarded and it makes it painful to watch, but I don't complain too much since again, its another day to have a game and I pay for the package any way since I like NFL network in the offseason. Catch old superbowls. The top 10's are good. The "Football life" is good
