Detroit— The Lions announced Monday at 10:40 a.m. that they were halting free distribution of tickets to Monday night's Vikings-Giants game at Ford Field.
The Lions cited "overwhelming response" to demand for the tickets. Fans were permitted to obtain up to four tickets per person.
Anyone who has an original ticket for the Vikings-Giants game in Minneapolis will be admitted and given preferred seating at Ford Field on Monday night.
In addition, fans with ticket stubs from Sunday's Packers-Lions will be admitted.
The Lions stressed, however, that non-preferred seating is general admission, and admittance to Ford Field is on a first-come, first-served basis. Ford Field gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Ford Field capacity is 64,500.
Hundreds of NFL fans braved frigid temperatures and biting winds to wait in line Monday morning outside Ford Field for a chance to snag free tickets.
