The block plax did was pure clean. They've recently changed the rule where they will flag you if you do that away from the play (primarily to protect qbs after an INT play), but his was to the front, dud just wasn't looking for it.

As to the pick, you can't have contact on a pass play past 5 yards witten ran into his guy to push him into another. Per the rules I believe you can be flagged for an orchestrated pick even without the contact, but it is extremely rare to see it as it would have to be soooo obvious, and even then refs don't like to go there.
 
Guess I should rephrase myself since everyone is saying the hit is "legal" and "clean."

My position wouldn't change if it was another team, or another player - even one I hate and feel would deserve it. The block was cheap, because there were other options that Burress could have played out. If Jenkins was looking at Burress, I'd say that was a legit block - but he wasn't. He was looking away at the play and got blindsided by Burress. If that was a player on your team, I assure you that you'd probably complain and wonder why it was legal.

But hey, he's a Cowboy so all y'all can do is hate and be glad a Cowboy "got what he deserved!"

San Antonio loves them some cowboys. Why no Texans fans down there? I know Houston is much closer.
 
dougp, seriously... Just stop. The block was 100% clean and 110% vicious. Arguing otherwise is either stupid or ignorant. I'd like to believe you're neither.

it was a shoulder to chest block. it's not plax's fault the other guy wasnt looking. nothing wrong with the hit at all. wtf did you want him to do, gently tap him on his shoulder to tell him to turn around so he could block him?

get over it.

I live in Houston now, moved from San Antonio awhile ago. As far as I know, those who were Oiler fans either became a Cowboys or Saints fan after the move. Nobody outside of Houston gives a shit about the Texans, they're just another bump in the road to a good record.
 
Yeah brutal hit. If it was done to the opposing team I'd be screaming f@ck yeah and frothing at the mouth. Since it was my team I just kinda cringe and hope he can keep playing.

C'mon, take the bait man. You're supposed to get mad that I'm happy your favorite player is injured!

Whatever. I understand it's a sport, but I'm beyond the initial nasty hit is how it needs to be done. And I've never said it wasn't a good/nice hit - it really was. Regardless, we'll all have to agree to agree or disagree or whatever.
 
So all you guys are for this type of play? Were was you the when Hines Ward was was doing these type of hits?

I shrugged when Roy Williams used (then legal) horse collars to break some legs, just like I shrugged when Mike Jenkins got hit last night. Of course you don't want to see anyone get hurt, especially plays on your team, but a legal hit is a legal hit, I'm not going to complain about it being "too hard" or anything like that.

Probably defending him, if they were legal hits. One of the biggest advantages to having a WR like Hines Ward or Keyshawn Johnson is the blocking support they bring.

Let's just say I understand it's a legal block. Thems the rules. That's all fine, but I still think it was a dirty block and the intensity of it was unnecessary and the way Burress mocks Jenkins was uncalled for (you can see him tap the side of his helmet on the side he hit Jenkins). They made hits like that illegal against receivers, and last year a few defensive players came out and said that the NFL doesn't give a shit about them - and even cited Ward as one of them who threw dirty blocks.
