Freeman missed like two series because the Lions crushed him.

But anyways, I'm not getting too excited nor do I see anyone else doing so. I don't think the Bucs are that good, although they did win 10 last year.
 
Regarding Colts, Collins looked pretty decent once the offensive line started doing their job. Otherwise it was brutal. I think there is hope.
 
NFC South, the "tough" division, is 0-3 so far. ATL spanked! TPA loses at home to Lions!

Carolina is the last hope for a win this weekend . . . Who woulda thunk?

NFC North is looking like they're going to all start 1-0...against the Saints, Bucs, Falcons, and Chargers.

Other than the Chargers who notoriously start slowly, those are, or should be, quality teams that have been beaten. I think the NFC North has three good teams for sure, possibly four if the Vikings can surprise.
 
Ugh, losing my kicker on the god damn kickoff of the SD game is really fucking up my fantasy scoring....

come on SD keep giving the ball to Tolbert in the redzone

It's apples and oranges, to compare the importance of a quarterback to any other position/sport.

The Colts have very nice players in Dwight Freeney/Robert Mathis, Wayne, Clark.

Even if Peyton is done it was all worth it. The Colts fans have had many playoff runs, big wins and losses, a ring, a superbowl loss, etc.. What else could a sports fan ask for.

The math alone favors your argument. On a typical NBA team, it takes about 9 guys to succeed and the production/minutes are heavily tilted to the top 4 or so players. Clearly taking away a Dirk, LeBron or Dwight Howard and substituting an average player is devastating.

On a football squad, there are easily 30 players of varying importance to team performance and I could be discounting special teams grunts a bit. Starting QBs always get too large a share of the acclaim/blame but it's possible (if improbable) to win the Super Bowl without an elite QB. It hasn't happened in recent years as passing offense has dominated the past decade, but Trent Dilfer was a nobody who won in Baltimore. There are plenty of non-elite QBs who have gotten to the SB and their team lost. Guys like Joe Flacco and Mark Sanchez have won a lot of road playoff games early in their careers, yet there's scant evidence that they're a couple steps away from becoming the next Tom Brady.
