How is that guy still allowed to play in the league.

Burfict suspended for the rest of the season.

Vontaze Burfict's latest on-field incident will cost him the rest of the season.

The Oakland Raiders linebacker has been suspended for the rest of the season following his helmet-to-helmet hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle, the league announced Monday.

Burfict was ejected from the Raiders' 31-24 win over the Colts for lowering the helmet to make contact on the hit early in the second quarter.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Burfict will appeal his suspension.

The discipline marks the longest punishment ever handed down for an on-field act in NFL history. Given Burfict's reputation as a repeat violator of player safety rules, a lengthy ban shouldn't come as a surprise.

NFL VP of football operations Jon Runyan said in a league release that Burfict was suspended for lowering his head to initiate and make contact with his helmet against an opponent, and for repeat violations of unnecessary roughness rules.

"There were no mitigating circumstances on this play," Runyan said in his letter to Burfict. "Your contact was unnecessary, flagrant and should have been avoided. For your actions, you were penalized and disqualified from the game.

Everyone picked the Vikes and of course they completely implode. Paying that kind of money for Cousins after giving up Teddy was idiotic. I don't know how they get rid of him with that kind of contract, but maybe they need to just eat it.

Well paint him purple first, then they can eat him. Sorry, but Vikes are just seeing what happens when you have a talented team but no consistently good-great QB and no real option in getting one. Not like keeping Keenum or Bridgewater would've likely changed their fortunes. They probably would've just saved some money while having roughly equal (if differently so) mediocre results, and the QB would still be the problem and they'd still have limited options in being able to change that. I guess they could've tried to trade for Rodgers after the drama in GB, hoping he'd be ok with really following Favre (banking on the Saints not trying to outright kill him at least though).

Which, they could've drafted Lamar Jackson, although I'm not sure he'd have the success he's had with the Ravens with the Vikings (although the blueprint should've been similar). He'd have been more exciting to watch at least.

They should trade Cousins back to the Slurs for Keenum and Purple Jesus.

Worst part about the Kirk Cousins situation is that it makes Bruce Allen look like he knew what he was doing. Somewhat though, because he still completely botched it. He could have traded him away for picks knowing he was never going to take a long term deal with the Redskins.

I don't think there's much danger in that. He clearly still doesn't know what he's doing. I mean they're paying Alex Smith roughly the same as Cousins is getting, and they had to give up a quality player and a draft pick on top of it. Even if Smith was healthy they wouldn't be any better off than if they'd kept Cousins.

At least the Bengals scored 3 points to not make it a complete blowout. Nothing like watching two 0-3 teams enter the ring and battle to death.

Ahem, Go Pats!

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised that the Pissburgh Squeakers beat the Bungles so badly.

Ftfy! ;) (sorry couldn't help myself)

Also Idk if Cinninati is the worst team in the NFL but they're certainly the most underwhelming. That organization is clueless.

Wait till week 6 when the 0-5 Redskins play the 0-5 Dolphins.

I'm just wondering who the hell is going to be calling that game and the reffing crew. There are probably going to be record setting flags that day.

Miami has a bye this week, so they will still be 0-4. Toilet Bowl or Tua Bowl?

There is the 0-3-1 Cardinals versus the 0-4 Bengals this week.
Oh damn so technically the Redskins will be the worst team in the NFL when they play.

Nothing I'd like more than the Redskins to get smoked by a team that is publicly tanking.

My new favorite hat...

Shoulda just duct taped any remaining burgundy on that cap. I kinda feel bad for Washington fans. Any fans of a club with a bad owner, it's a crappy thing to have. Especially considering the average fan has less than zero control over who the club owner is. I mean, we all laughed at the Giants for drafting Daniel jones and thought maybe Washington finally did something right drafting Dwayne Haskins. 4 games into the season and maybe, just maybe, it's the same old 'Skins under Daniel Snyder. Now, the Giants weren't exactly beating up on elite competition but Daniel Jones looked a heckuva lot better than Dwayne Haskins.

Regarding the Cowboys. Demarcus Lawrence said Dallas going to go to NOLA to show the Saints "We Dat." How's that working out? I do think Dallas is a good team, but I also think Dallas was sniffing themselves too hard after beating up on some cupcakes to start the season.

At the beginning of the season, everyone would say the Cowboys Saints game was an early test for the Cowboys. After Breeze got hurt, this was like a test where someone gave the answers to half the test questions to the Cowboys. And yet, somehow, someway, the Cowboys still got an F.

A thought popped into my mind, which was, what if one day, there were two teams meeting in week 17 who were 0-15. Wouldn't that be awesome? Loser gets the #1 overall pick.

Ratings would probably be amazing.

Now now, not so fast. Technically the Redskins will have the worst record in the NFL when they play. The right to be called "worst team" will be decided on the field.

0-5 < 0-4.

You are what your record says.

I'm going to bet my 401k on the Pats this weekend.

Hey, here's an idea on how to fix the dumpster fires in Miami, Washington, Cincinnati etc.

How about a futility tax? If you miss the playoff 5 years in a row a penalty kicks in that forces a team to raise payroll 10%. If they miss again raise payroll another 10%. And another and another and another. Either prove you belong there and field a competitive team or get priced out of the league and be forced to sell your franchise to somebody who can run it competently. Why should the league carry dead weight who go decades without putting a decent product on the field?

Problem is that with the salary-cap, in the NFL winning has a lot more to do with the unsung position players you pick (particularly on the lines) then it does on how much you spend. In other words unless you have solid football-people (scouts) making most of your draft-decisions it doesn't matter how much you spend.

Which is exactly why the Redskins suck ass. They have no football people in the FO.
