Who would've thought about Tino... Btw, I like how Oakland Athletics accuse the Yankees because Giambi is a juicer. Shouldn't it be the other way around since Giambi was on juice while playing on the A's. Without him they probably don't even make it to the playoffs.

I agree, but when did the A's accuse the Yankees or Giambi of anything? I didn't read that.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling. :)

No problem! Actually, I posted the following in one of the other threads, but didn't get any replies. Curious about Yankees fans responses. (I don't mean for this to be the usual "Yankees buy the World Series" type comment though):

"I find it disturbing and somewhat disgusting that this $200million dollar team, not living up to it's potential, once again looks like it might have the opportunity to get one of the best pitchers ever, Roger Clemens, solely because they are, well, the Yankees. As if spending $200million, and having one of the other best pitchers ever, Johnson, insist on going to this team last year wasn't enough."

You can't control people's thoughts. If he wants to come, he wants to come. He must think that he has the best chance of winning with the Yanks. They guy is pitching his heart out in Houston and getting NO run support whatsoever. Can you blame him?

Well, the Yankees aren't the only contender out there. Why doesn't Clemens say, "Hey, I'd love to pitch for the Red Sox and help them win the WS 2 years in a row!" or even St. Louis.

I've learned to accept that the deep Yankees pockets can afford a lot of players that other teams can't. What bothers me are players that only insist on going to the Yankees because they are the Yankees, even when other teams can afford their salary.

They insist on going to the yankees because of the mystique that surrounds it...is that so wrong?

When did Roger Clemens say he wanted to pitch for the Yankees. That was a media creation. Basically one analyst said "Houston isn't going anywhere, they must trade him". Then the other one added "They must trade him to the only team could afford him, the Yankees" And then all of a sudden people are walking around talking about Roger being traded to the Yankees.

Until the any of the 3 parties involves explicitly states that there are talks in place, I wouldn't pay attention to that rumor.

You're right, it is just media hype right now. However, if I'm correct, the first time around, Clemens wanted to solely go to the Yankees, as did Johnson, Matsui and (I think) Contreras to name a few. And these weren't due to solely the finances of the Yankees.

If I was Steinbrenner I'd still be pissed. My Yanks should be in 1st with the money he's throwing out. Also Pavano, he will be great, he's young, give him time. Yanks should hold onto him as much as they should have held onto Pettite.

It was Pettite's decision to go to Houston. He wanted to be closer to his family... Nothing the Yankees could do about that, though he is sorely missed.

The winning streak shall end at Shea!! MARK MY WORDS!! (We all know they are gonna cream the M's)

....actually I think the Yanks are gonna be Pedro's daddy again but there's always Saturday and Sunday! ;)

I still want to see what the Yanks could do to better clubs as the Athletics and Mariners are AWFUL teams. Of course the Yanks are doing what they are supposed to do and beat the bums up.

Would love to see the Orioles hang on and make this summer really interesting in the AL East.

You know that's not going to happen. Their bullpen is horrible.

Well, the same reason most software developers want to work for Microsoft. You always want to work/play for whoever's the best.

Their pitching is awful.

Not lately (aside from Pavano).
Lately doesn't matter. Their pitching IS awful.
That's totally untrue. They have quality pitchers who were underperforming. They are now performing close to what was expected of them.

I was in Mass yesterday,
I saw an even amount of Yankee's,and Red Sox,hats, tshirts etc being worn.

I saw one guy with a Yankees hat on,and his g/f had a Red Sox jacket on.LOL.

This year if the Yankees can't win the World Series its the Cubs turn. ;)
