As a Giants fan, it pains me to say bad things about them, but they are, at best, a .500 team. Their problems start with the coaching staff. Tom Coughlin lost the game today. This team was not ready to play today. Blame it on the bye week if you want, but it's the responsibility of the coaching staff to get 'em up and ready. His play calling wasn't too brilliant, either. Has he forgotten we have a terrific RB named Tiki? And who the hell is Brandon Jacobs that Tiki gets pulled in a goal line situation? This loss is on the coaching staff. And as long as Coughlin and defensive coordinator Tim Lewis are the head honchos, this team will go nowhere fast.

And a new defense wouldn't hurt, either!

I disagree with you., I don't think it was the coach or the coaching staff, I think the team as a whole underperformed today. You can't blame int's and fumbles on the coaching staff, and that is why the team lost today's game. Jacobs was in because Tiki did not get in done in short yardage situations for the last 2 years. The Giants have been searching for a short yardage answer and Jacobs may be it. The loss is on the team, Eli included. He got way too rattled under pressure today.
You watched a different game than I, my friend. The coaching staff abandoned the run from the get go. Why? Barber is a game breaker and needs his 20 carries or so to do his thing. Replacing him on the goal line with a rookie who doesn't know how to run, and who has already fumbled once this season on the goal line, is a bonehead call. Jacobs may yet prove to be great, but not yet, not today. Eli didn't get rattled. He was following a game plan that played right into the Cowboys coaching staff's expectations. Kudos to Parcells for taking Coughlin to school.
Next week's Denver game now becomes pivotal. A loss at home and they drop to 3-3. Last season again? If this team does that again, the Giants need to cut their losses and get rid of the Coughlin regime. They won't, or course, but the man and his staff are anchors around this organization's neck.

If the players executed well, the Giants would have won going away. Would you have been complaining about Coughlin then? You can't blame those turnovers on the coaching staff. From what I saw, the running game was getting shut down early. 2-3 yards a carry is not getting it done. And again, I think Jacobs was in there because Tiki was not able to convert short yardage for the last 2 seasons. We disagree.
Ah, but they didn't execute well. They came out flat and seemingly unprepared for the game. That's coaching. And, actually, I've been bitching about Coughlin from the day he was mentioned as being on the Mara's short list of head coach candidates. I never liked his style, and saw him as a bad fit for this team. So far, he's done nothing to dispel that. Tiki has carried this offense on his back for two years, while they struggled to score points every game. This season, I read he bulked up aboout 15 pounds to better prepare hiimself for the workload and to be a better, all around back. If the coaching staff thinks he isn't the one, then sit him and put in someone else. But, running back by committee doesn't work. And if that is Coughlin's plan this year, we could be looking at another 6-10 season. In the first quarter, Barber was 5 for 25, I believe. And the threat of his breaking one is always real. Then, they shut it down and started play calling like they invented the forward pass. The Giants aren't good enough to lose games that they have in their grasp. Next week they get spanked when the Broncos come into town. . .

eli got sacked 4 times and was hurried 11? times... this killed a lot of offensive plays from panning out. the offensive line had a tough time...

i dont think these instances rattled or affected how he executed on plays that the offense were able to run... Dallas made 2 sacks that were big on Giant drives... Eli threw one real bad pick though... like a Dave Brown or Collins kind of pick.

Dallas kept the ball for too long... and made too many medium passes.. G secondary is real bad. They need to draft a shutdown corner.

Agreed. The front 7 played very well actually. Nick Greisen especially. I don't know why the coaches don't like him, but every time I see him make a play it's usually at a very imprant time. I think the knock against him is that he can't cover, but I mean come on anybody who played that well against the run can be found a role on the team.

As for Eli, he definitely took a step back. That being said, I think the play calling put him in very bad situations. Too many 3rd and longs. Also, until the last 2 drives in the game they didn't even try throwing the ball down the field. Once the defense realizes they don't have to cover down the field they start cheating up. They didn't even try playfakes or screens it was the simplest playcalling I've ever seen - just slants and curls.

Agreed.
Personally, I think Curtis Deloatch is doing a hell of a job at CB. He sticks on the recievers tight, doesn't draw alot of penalties and breaks up alot of plays. I think Will Allen is a complete bust.

He plays pretty well for a guy who was drafted very late, he'd probably be a good nickel corner but I don't think he has enough talent to run with the big boys.

Will Allen is getting worse every year. I don't understand what's happening to him.

I personally don't know what's the reason for Webster not playing. Some guys on the giants.com boards think it has something to do with how he practices.

I think he's running with 'em pretty well so far. Only time will tell.

Yeah, I agree. It's weird, because he was so highly thought of when he came in. Peterson is not that hot either.

The guy is still a raw rookie. He shows alot of promise, and I hope he's great down the road.

 awesome finish.
Eli is going to keep improving with experience. he's a diamond in the rough at times now, but he's going to be greatness in time.

yep... for this yr i just hope strahan ends the season feeling good and 10sacks so he doesn't feel like he's on the downswing, Eli getting more consistency w/ accuracy on throws... but i want them to lose this yr... i want to watch 'proud' moments... but there's no way they are Superbowl caliber right now...their team D is not tenacious enough for the deep round playoffs... they need 1-2 superstars... one on the secondary (4 positions to pick from) and 1 either on the line ot linebacking corps...

i'd hate for them to not make it yet end up w/ a good enough record that they miss top tier draft picks... they have a lot of pieces of the puzzle, old and new... and a good 2-5 yrs before i think tiki, strahan, toomer, and the linemen core age....whereupon you're too envolved w/ patching the team...

absorbing 1 more down yr that can yield a draft that buys you a more solid stretch of nearfuture shots at deep into the playoffs is worth it for the franchise... cept you go out on the field to win, not lose.

ugh... when we had the two 'wills' a few yrs back when they were new to the league.. transitioning away from the 'short' p.sparks and the pretty boy cornerback... their was some pimping that the next generation of the G secondary was taking shape...

too bad pretty boy screwed his knee on the very first kickoff ? punt return he was assigned to do.... I still think it was the right move by fassel, since pretty boy was a leaping and pretty good athletic specimen on the team... he would have cover time on michael irvin too... and he would do all those secondary blitzes ran by JohnFox...

but after that knee problem, he always came back w/ another injury and then he wasn't the impact player anymore and played a poor corner, getting burned...

Call him what you want, but Sehorn might have become a really great player. It's unfortunate that he was never the same after his injury, he never had the speed anymore.

i agree... he was in a league w/ few white CBs, and which black receivers were 'curious' of his mojo...

he was one of those draftpick gems... as was dave megget.

ah, i hated the 1st goaline series play calling.

1st and goal against washington... fade pattern.. pass. i wanted a run.

2nd and 10, run for a big loss.

since i wanted a run, i wanted a pass here, play action.

3rd and goal, long... waaay to obvious pass down....

result... huge SACK...

settle for fieldgoal.

actually, if the offensive line had done it's job and given manning even 1/2 a second more, that fade would have been a TD, he just basically tossed that knowing he'd get hit in order to avoid loss of yds and plaxico still almost caught it.
