I'm just looking forward to the Netflix. How much spaces does a 2 hour HD movie take up on the HD? I really don't want to buy a new HD, but installing games might be nice.

Netflix doesn't install movies to the HDD. If you purchase a HD movie through the Live Video Marketplace, it will take up about 6-8GBs though.

Ah, so it just streams as fast as your connection allows with a small buffer?

Yep. I have a 6MB DSL connection and the quality has been very good so far. I just watched Read Or Die and Ms. Deep's boobs bounced in high quality.

Hmm thanks for the movie recomendation.

So if I have a slower connection there's no way to just download more ahead of time? Am I stuck with a crappy native res?

Just got back and tried it out. It is sooooo sweet streaming movies and TV shows. I'm going to downgrade my cox tv subscription to the most basic one since I can watch all my favorite shows any time, even in HD for only 8.99 a month. Oh yeah, fuck sony

Well that's weird. I had to re-download the media update to play my Xvid files.

Daddy's watching Dora now...

I just saw something else I enjoy to the new update. You can disable auto-play when you add a game to the tray. Sometimes I'd put a game in but want to mess around in the dash/marketplace before playing, so I'd just leave the tray open and hit close when ready. Now i just set it that you have to launch the game from the dash. Nice.

Sheet, my wife is gonna love this if all of her shows are available. Is there a list online somewhere?

Nope. You can sign up for a free 14-day trial though.

My biggest problem right now is that there isn't much there for the kids. The cartoon selection is abysmally scarce.

They do have plenty of Law and Order and CSI though.

I just copied 8 games across. I like the full screen backgrounds that are displayed for most of them  Only Devil May Cry 4 and Condemned 1 + 2 didn't have a pic so far. Test Drive Unlimited takes a similar time to load as before but it's smoother in-game, especially on the map and going in/out of houses and the garages. Plus there's no rumble through the desk from the disc spinning and all the noise that goes with that.

Nice. I always do this as well, so it will be nice to have this "fix".

Call me weird, but I like the higher-res and slightly touched up notification pop-up when somebody logs in, you get a message, a download finishes, etc.

Does the new update add VGA resolutions for 1920x1200? I am tired of switching my HDMI cable back and forth, and would like to put the VGA back in if it supports my Samsung T240HD @ native res.

Like the update. Tried the Netflix and it works great. Only problem is that the HD selection is really lacking, unless I'm missing something. I only see 6ish pages of HD content to stream.

I'm streaming wirelessly and the HD Office actually looked great... until about 2/3 through when it paused, decided that my connection had degraded, and came back with some craptastic, a whole helluva lot worse than SD, remaining presentation of the episode. Too bad it doesn't check to see if it can go back to HD!

Same issue here; Won't connect to Xbox Live for update. When I first switched it on today it downloaded the new update, rebooted, came up with the all new interface and immediately said it failed to connect. Everything works fine except in won't connect to Live. Hot damn it.

So I thought that Gold members get 12,000 Netflix movies to stream for free? But now I have to give Netflix my credit card # and it's only a 2 week trial? I am getting mixed messages here...

"Netflix announced today that its streaming movies and TV service would be debuting at no additional cost to current Xbox gold and Netflix subscribers along with the NXE update."

So I have to subscribe to both Gold AND Netflix to get the free streaming? I'm confused.

Nevermind. I got it, the Netflix site explains it a bit more clear;

"This is available to Netflix members who are also Xbox LIVE Gold members for no additional Netflix fee."

Meaning, if you subscribe to both Live and Netflix, there is no additional cost to stream through the 360.

So yeah, you do have to have Live Gold and a Netflix subscription. Netflix subscriptions start at $8.99/mo for streaming and 1 disks out. $13.99/mo for streaming and 2 disks out. $16.99/mo for streaming and 3 disks out.
