Not really shocked Kentucky lost. I told my boss once the brackets came out that UK needs to watch out for Wisconsin. I think my exact words were they are "Disciplined, skilled and angry about last year".

Officating was odd that game. Felt heavily Wisconsin biased, then there was a few minute period at the last few minutes of the 2nd half it all went UK's way. Then the shot clock violation that was a no call happened and it was over. Harrison went what…3 or 4 straight possessions playing hero ball only to end up with air balls 15 feet from the rim?

They lost their poise when Wisconsin punched back and wouldn't break. Wisconsin is the better team. Without question. Their passing around the arc is great, they've got 5 guys on the floor at any given time that are a shooting threat any spot on the floor. They are disciplined and intentionally setup their offense to run down the clock and calculate their shot. Just a great coached and executing team.

If there's any solace for UK fans, it's maybe that Towns and the Twins decide to stick around one more year before bailing to try and get that national title.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, love seeing Kentucky lose. Sorry fellows, we all knew you didn't belong in the same sentence with the 1976 Indiana squad that was the last undefeated team in college basketball. Suck it, Ashley Judd.

"YOU MAD BRO?!?!?!"

I just want Wisconsin to run the table now against Duke. I want an all Big10 championship year. 😀

see, this is what happens when the state makes it legal to deny services and contracts to homosexuals--the design bid goes to some color blind corn farmer. 😛

Lol, actually, I was thinking it looks like one of the courts you often see in the Women's Final Four. Those courts are generally REALLY ugly. Anyway, you can't beat Indianapolis as a sports venue. It just isn't possible. 😀

I was at the 2010 Final Four where the championship was between Duke and Butler and the entire configuration (floor, stadium config, etc) was awesome. Probably ranks as one of the top NCAA championships I've ever seen (on TV or in person); I'd say that the 1983 NC State vs. Houston and the 1987 Indiana vs. Syracuse championships were better with 1985 Villanova vs. Georgetown close. I used to religiously watch college basketball but as I've gotten older, I think the game isn't as great as it used to be and I've stopped watching it. Too bad, because college hoops in the 80s and 90s were great and the Duke/Butler championship was really a throwback.

Duke/Butler was the last final that I enjoyed. Not just because Duke won, but it was a great game.

1983: greatest ever!

I thought I'd be torn over this. I'm an alum of UW and an alum of UK. However, I find that my embarrassment over UW winning (great schools should have lousy teams) is more than compensated for by the fact that UK lost. UK has the poutingest fans in the known universe and it turns out that hearing the lamentations of their women is best.

I'm also an alum of UA so this is double plus good.

Ever since kids started specializing in sports over the past 20 years .... the magic has been lost. I liked it better when players played a position and specialized at it. Shaquille O'Neil probably wouldn't have even been playing college ball because he can't shoot or do free throws. Imagine that world ...

I want a league to form that caps heights of players. Example:
1) You must always have someone at or under 5' 10" on the floor.
2) You must always have someone at or under 6' 0" on the floor.
3) You must always have someone at or under 6' 3" on the floor.
4) You must always have someone at or under 6' 6" on the floor.
5) And one "unlimited"

It would be a much different game and in my opinion .... BETTER!

This would be a pro league. I'm pretty much sick of the 6' 4" height requirement to have a chance of being elite at the collegiate/pro level.

The best part of this thread is that Engineer went through it this morning and systematically edited out every last one of his posts.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

Think of the bright side Engineer -- as someone pointed out earlier, when Calipari is inevitably busted again (oh, sorry, one of his "associates" and he had NO knowledge of it), you won't lose this national championship due to it being vacated. 😀

I used to like Kentucky. Then: Calipari.

Calipari is a piece of shit, so he flat out spoils whatever team he is coaching....and I'd wager this is true for a lot of people and their perceptions of his teams.

Kentucky has a long history of cheating/breaking rules, back to the Rupp days:

Adolph Rupp
Joe B. Hall
Eddie Sutton

Them hiring someone like Calipari is par for the course. I was sad the day Indiana sunk to the level of Kentucky when they hired Kelvin Sampson and they're still paying the price.

and Rupp was a scummy old racist wise and beautiful woman. Gross how those hicks lionize that old codger like they do.

😀

"Oh zin, you ignorant slut--it was a different time!"

--no it wasn't. Rupp was there at the perfect time to make history, see the error of his ways and modernize, but like every bigoted fuckhole ever, chose the wrong side of history. He paid for that, was nationally embarrassed, and his failure goes down as one of the greatest losses in NCAA history.

Fuck that guy. The only thing going for him is that now he is only the 2nd-biggest wise and beautiful woman in college sports history, now that Paterno has edged him out.

😀

The longer I've been in academia, the more I hear about the shenanigans that go on at the prominent programs. Rupp's racism and Paterno's pedophilia-enabling are in a class of their own, but if you think UNC is the only paper classes program, then you're wrong. The ringers simply pull in too much money for the system to change.

The truly sad consequence of the stakes being so high is that it starts in high school now, with these 'private academies' that have star basketball prospects take bullshit online 'classes' - so not only are many of them not getting a college education - they're not even getting a damn high school education.

2 Things I know after Saturday:

1) I miss college basketball from before the one and done generation. (Thanks to "I Hate Christian Laettner 30 for 30") It's definitely not the same as it once was and I don't expect it ever will be again.

2) Kentucky fans now want a new coach thanks to Calipari's immense failure the past two seasons.
