Yeah the more I sit and think about it, Wisconsin beating Kentucky is one of the best things to happen in college basketball this year. Badgers played a team game with a group of mature players anchored by a Senior leader and some other guys that had been there for 3-4 years. It's a team game and they came in prepared and ready to play. Most of them are local players to the area and not deep prospects heavily recruited and fought over.

They played how the sport should be played.

Hahaha, wow, that is hilarious! It looks like he retired. :hmm:

I thought Engineer was more level-headed than to quit over Kentucky losing. I hope it isn't something more serious and he's OK.

Seriously, as a Colts fan during the Manning era, I KNOW what it feels like to lose big games you should win. Take your ribbing, laugh it off, and remember - at the end of the day, who really cares? You're talking about grown men who play a child's game and most of these guys are (or will) become millionaires for playing the aforementioned child's game. Hard to really feel sorry for them when they stumble.

As a Wisconsin sports fan... that game was awesome.

Sadly, as some of you requested, there was no crying Ashley Judd, but there was this kid:

The best part of this thread is that Engineer went through it this morning and systematically edited out every last one of his posts.

I have not been paying attention to this thread, so I missed the drama. What was so bad that he had to edit it all out? Just blind drooling Kentucky fanboi-ism or something worse?

No, really just normal fan stuff, nothing too outrageous. No premature championship tats or anything like that.

yeah, it makes no sense. He wasn't making irrational predictions or wagers or anything absurd like that....his signature was all Kentucky Fo Lyfe! for ~the last week or two.

I don't know, maybe it's shame or something. Very silly, really. People shouldn't invest to much emotion into the trials of a team that really doesn't give a shit about you in the end.

...I learned this a long time ago. Maybe it helps that my teams perpetually suck (or are generally good enough to tease you along until they collapse, spectacularly), so one gets used to these things.

I found this interesting. I heard this on the radio this morning on my way home from work.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...-ncaa-tournament-bracket-final-four/25331153/

"If Wisconsin wins Monday, it will be the first time since the NCAA began seeding the tournament in 1979 that the champion has faced the highest-seeded opponent possible in every game along the way.

With a win Monday, it also will be the hardest path any No. 1 seed will have taken to win a national championship. (Worth noting: Arizona, as a No. 3 seed in 1997, did beat three No. 1 seeds en route to its title.)

These are the teams the Badgers have faced (by seed) so far this NCAA tournament: No. 16 Coastal Carolina, No. 8 Oregon, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 2 Arizona and No. 1 Kentucky."

I am a Minnesota native and went to Madison for undergrad. In recent years that has reaped great dividends, as the Badgers have been awesome in football and baseball while pretty much all MN pro teams (other than the Lynx, who I don't really follow) have struggled.

I would go as far as to say that the current Badgers are my favorite of any team I have ever followed, in any sport. I just love their cohesion, heart, composure, and willingness to cut loose and have fun off the court. I will be rooting for them like a fool tonight, but regardless of the outcome they have given me and all Badgers fans an amazing season. Let's go Red!

What exactly were they digging out of that guys eye? They said contact but amazingly you could actually see it go flying up in the air after he got poked in the eye.

Don't like the foul call. Wisconsin player was fairly well set, arms went up, took an elbow to the face and shooter got the call. I don't like how much contact offensive players are allowed.

And there's another with Winslow basically running a guy over. Either call offensive fouls more often or swallow the whistle and let them play.

I'm fine with both those calls--the elbow is just shit that happens, obviously sucks to be called for the foul after taking one in the jaw, though. The Winslow block--dude leaned into him. Feat were just barely set, I don't really think he established in time, but Wisconsin dude clearly leaned a shoulder in.

by the way--I'm all for no-calls on both of those plays, especially the first. The foul was sold so hard like Duke dude is an Italian soccer player.

Anyway, this is a great game.

Yep. Pretty clear to me too that it should be Wisconsin ball. Oh well. Jones just exploded in the last couple minutes of the game and put it away for Duke.

Welp, that's 5 for K. Best ever, I guess. (yes, even over Wooden)

Hate to see that Wisconsin team lose, though. They were so fun to watch, and I feel a much better team than Duke on the floor.

Congrats to Duke! Hate to see Wisconsin Lose...

Why is it that obvious calls to fans seemingly go the OPPOSITE WAY?

EDIT: case in point to me personally it makes it even more stupid they had a chance to review it and still fudged the call

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/04/duke-wisconsin-out-of-bounds-call-justise-winslow-ncaa-final

You have the shot clock violation in the game against Kentucky that should have been caught (which I didn't mind 🙂 ) and then you have MULTIPLE replays of the ball seemingly touching the Duke players finger that goes the as a 'inconclusive evidence' and Duke gets the ball and drains a three...

Glad Wisconsin played as hard as they did, Duke executed better and won, wish they would have won by a dozen than to have that shitty call go that way at the end.

Yup.

It was a fun game to watch by two great college teams. At the end, the guys in blue just shot the ball, and the guys in red just could not.

Congrats to "gw" who won the Yahoo tourney!

and

lupi who won the CBS pool!

as for me...at least KLin in the Yahoo pool. Mwahahahah!

Really enjoyed the game until the end. Was so disappointed that Duke won; I just loved watching Wisconsin play.

KT

Wisconsin got robbed on 2 out of bound plays (Winslow stepped out of bounds and hit the ball with his finger on the other end), both turned into 2 and 3 point plays for Duke.

Sad that refs failed even with instant replay.
