I just don't get it. The majority of people in the target audience for the Kinect stuff are not at E3, and probably don't even know it exists. Why not announce Cloud storage, beacons, etc. during the press conference?

MAINSTREAM PRESS

You don't remember when they announced Kinect? That was all over the news, cnn.com, huffpo, etc.

I mean I do get it. I realize mainstream press are there and hopefully will help to hype it to the masses, but again, most of the people actually at the press conference want to see more.

the halo universe is actually very large and very interesting, there is a ton of stuff that happens that is not even close to covered in the other games. which is what im assuming they are going to do with some of these games.

All I'm saying is that the games are called Halo because they have to do with...halos. But since that part of the story is done, why would the continuation still be called Halo? Isn't that misleading? I'll sue if I play this game and there are not at least four halos in it. At all times.

Damn, WAY too much hate in this thread. Of course, anybody that's been around here for a few years knows that pretty much every single E3 conference thread is filled with detractors talking about how shitty it was, like there needs to be some mind-blowing announcement. There's not really been any of those for the past 6 or 7 years, we honestly know all the big stuff beforehand with leaks and what-not. When you sit and think about it, there's very little that could actually surprise you and make you go "WOW!" these days.

While that is all true about announcements , it doesn't mean you got to put out a shitty show still.

Look at the other E3 conference so far, most all stuff we knew about for the most part and yet they were all decent so far.

This sums up the MS conference.

So, having just now caught up on E3:

MW3 looks awesome. Going to pick that up at some point. GoW3 looks pretty cool as well, haven't even play 2 yet so I can let 3 drop in price a bit before getting that. Forza 4 looks very very cool. I've played the Forza 3 demo a while ago but never picked up the game. Definitely going to have to give F4 a shot. Kinect stuff is completely uninteresting to me, just don't care.

And..........

*SQUEEE* Halo 4! The "new trilogy" coming from the Halo line does have me a bit worried. As long as the story is good, then hell yeah go for it. Granted some Bungie people moved over to 343, but I kinda have my doubts that they can keep the story good without beating the horse. As for the Halo: CE remaster, depends on the price tag when it's released. It would be cool to play H:CE with the Reach engine though.

Just because you don't like Kinect or care about it doesn't mean it was a shitty conference, it means the conference didn't appeal to you.

I haven't had a chance to watch the MS conference yet, but overall doesn't sound like too much exciting. They are trying waaaay to hard to push Kinect on to the "core" audience. No I don't want Kinect in ME3... The Halo 4 announcement is interesting, but I've never been a huge fan of Halo anyway. And $40 for the CE remake? Screw that...

They are? I could barely notice after Sesame Street, Kinect Sports, Dance Central 2, Kinect Fun Labs, Disneyland Adventures, etc etc etc etc. They only demoed two 'core' games that utilized Kinect and the rest was a return of the casual games from last year.

I haven't actually seen the conference yet, but it seems like they are trying to shoehorn it into core titles like ME3. And Sesame Street... ugh... are you serious... *barf*

Anything on rails is garbage imo. I have yet to play a rail shooter that I like, or that I didn't immediately think would be better if it wasn't on rails. Basically, Fable and Star Wars looked terribly stupid. The Mass Effect 3 Kinect support thing is just flat out retarded. You say the line and then get to hear Shepard say her lines? No. Stop. We don't care. Just show more minigame collection's and Disney crap for your new audience, MS, because we don't want what you're peddling.

Uh, are you serious? Do you actually think that game is aimed at you? Microsoft is in business to make money. If they can make a bucket of money by selling systems and games to families with young children (an area where the Xbox has been historically lacking), then more power to them. It's not as if they are making Sesame Street instead of ME3 and MW3 and Halo4.

Yeah I know that... Doesn't mean I want to see it.

I like the idea of using voice commands instead of the command wheel to control squadmates. Using voice commands for the discussion wheel not really necessary though.

As for Sesame Street, it's by Tim Schafer and DoubleFine. They get the benefit of the doubt and it looks like it could be a fun game for younger kids.

I think using voice commands would just be awkward. I can just see me there talking into the TV and my GF asking what the hell I'm doing. It's not for me anyway.

I did just watch the MW3 and Tomb Raider footage. MW3 looks good, but just more of the same. I'll wait for the price drop this time, and fvck you Activision if you think I'm paying for COD Elite, or map packs again. Tomb Raider looks good. Probably not a day one purchase, but I'll pick it up when the steam sale comes around.

No, the conference was garbage, go watch it, it seems you haven't.

They showed off multiplatform games and Kinetic.

A conference doesn't have to appeal to someone to still be good.

I watched it live, and I don't think it was bad. The games didn't appeal to me, but I thought some of the features were neat. I think the implementation of Kinect with Forza 4 is awesome, but the crap they were showing with GR was too much - I will not play a game like that. Star Wars would have been great if it came with a lightstaber based "controller" that the Kinect would follow - but the game just looks like shit.

Microsoft has quit targeting hardcore gamers because they already have us - they need to increase profits and the easiest way to do this is to develop family friendly games. Not having to worry about a controller or batteries is a great thing for a kid who's coordination isn't that great.

I followed the liveblog and have seen a couple of videos of stuff they showed. It was a perfectly fine conference, nothing mind-blowing but far away from being labeled as shitty. I don't feel like going back and forth with you though, so feel however you want. It just gets tiring to read year after year how every single E3 conference is shitty when it really isn't, it just didn't live up to people's unrealistic expectations.

And like I said, every conference after MS's has been decent to good with no unrealistic expectations for any of them. No one is expecting mind blowing stuff from these conferences anymore, they are just expecting a decent show of things. But whatever.
