Good games last night guys. I think maybe the reason dougism was always on the other team is because - there is a generic xbox party, and there are parties inside of MW2, a MW2 party. I think he may have been in the 360 party, but not the MW2 party.

I spent a ton of time after we disbanded, well a few rounds anyway playing with ONLY the Glock 18 to unlock akimbo on it. It was kind of funny when I did own guys with rifles with the glock but my ratio was about 1:2 to 2:3 while doing it. Used a ton of stun grenades to get it done. (pick them up with scavenger, that perk owns just for that reason)

Akimbo G18s is insane. When you pull both triggers the cursor just climbs straight up to the sky. You have to hold them down. It'll be nice for when I run out of ammo but I use scavenger all the time anyway so now that rarely happens. If you're next to a guy and you open up with both G18s, aim at their crotch and watch their torso explode. It sounds like BLLLAAAAAAHHHHHH.

Also, got nuked at Terminal. That was crazy.

Unlocked the FAL and that thing is a piece of junk. It shoots nice but even with stopping power close up you need about 4 to 5 hits to kill someone.

I'll continue with the FAMAS mostly with some P90 mixed in until I get to try out the M16. Some guy was using the M16 with stopping power and FMJ attachment and it was like a railgun deathray machine.

hardline is the worst perk out of the red ones (perk 2 i think?)
it's retarded

not really actually. if you have it set properly, you can get a UAV every 2 kills and a care package every 3 killstreaks.

care package can be any kill streak, which could be the CS120 or something else amazing that normally requires 10 or more kills.

I managed to get in one measly online match yesterday because my wife hogged the TV, but it was definitely my best match thus far. Finished 14-7 and had a kill streak of 7, so I got to use the care package and predator for the first time.

The predator I already knew how to use from single player. However, I realized that I had no idea what the care package was all about when I called it in.

When I hit the right d-pad to initialize it, I was just assuming that it would be dropped randomly somewhere in the level, and it was up to your team to find it and use it. However, I've been reading some stuff where I'm not sure if this is how it works or not. What do I need to know about the care package in order to utilize it properly? Does it drop exactly where I call it (i.e. don't call it in while inside a building)? Is it just a box that I have to run up to and hold X?

I appreciate any explanation you guys can give. Getting a 4 kill streak is somewhat common, so I want to make sure I know how to use the thing.

Once you press it, you have to drop the smoke grenade. A few seconds later, the drop will then come down pretty much where the smoke is, so dont throw it too close too a wall or it might bounce off the other side. Dont throw it indoors, or itll land on the roof. And dont stand on top of the smoke, because it'll fall on your head!

Once the package drops, run up to it and hold X like youre planting a bomb, and youll get the reward.

You must be using a different FAL than me then. It pretty much only takes 2 shots to down someone, even at range, with stopping power. You must have been hitting them through a wall or something.

And yes, the M16 rocks. I'm not sure its much better than the FAMAS, since both are super accurate 3 shots bursts that pretty much guarantee a kill if all three shots hit, but I've probably put more hurt on people with the M16 than with any other gun. Especially with the heartbeat sensor and holo sight...death ray is a good way to put it.

At range the FAL felt better, maybe 2 to 3 shots. But up close I was having to lay into guys with 5 rounds before they went down it felt like. It may not be that bad but I'm sticking with others.

I just spent about 4 or 5 rounds of ground war as a riot shielder with a throwing knife. Killed my K : D ratio but man that is hilarious. Especially in big domination matches. Watching guys struggle to try and kill you to either be offed by teammate or throwing knifed while they reload is good times. Plus shield bashing.

Multiplayer impressions so far:

I have extremely mixed feelings so far. One of the biggest problems I had with WaW is present, though perhaps to a lesser degree, in MW2. The maps are beautiful, but the combination extreme amounts of clutter, Z-axis overuse, and the fact that virtually every building can be occupied can lead to a lot of randomness.

Fortunately, the problem isn't compounded by an insanely idiotic spawn system (which officially rendered WaW BROKEN). You just have to pay far more attention to your surroundings then you did in COD4. That was generally my style of play to begin with, but I have to seriously multitask now... definitely an adjustment!

I remember when they first said a few months back that they wanted more Z-axis play and larger maps, and my first reaction was "fsck". It seems my concerns were valid, though probably not as much as I originally feared. Not all maps have this problem, either, and I'm sure that as we get to understand their flow, perhaps the problem will be mitigated.

Another fear I had was the killstreaks dominating the game, but they don't seem to at all. Sure, they're more of a presence this time around and can get annoying once in awhile, but it's not a killstreak fest. The 11-kill rewards are so much fun it's stupid!!! I'm not sure I'm a fan of the deathstreaks. It's REALLY annoying to get a bead on a guy and put a clip of lead into him, but because he's on Painkiller his whole team has time to light you up.

The weapons, perks, and attachments are badass. I am shocked, however, with the heartbeat sensor. I expected this to be an absolute STAPLE in the game, but I've found that when I use it I pay far too much attention to it and get killed far more often than when I'm not using it. Likewise, in a 1-on-1 with someone else who's using it, I find I catch them off guard quite frequently. I still think it's a great tool, but I need to learn to use it in moderation.

Not sure I'm crazy about the 9v9. I know the maps are larger than COD4, but I prefer slightly less chaos (again, less randomness = better).

So, in a nutshell - sweet game, loving it, but maps need less clutter, 2 fewer players (8v8), and party chat desperately needs to come back. I know why they removed it, and it was worth the experiment, but !@#$!@# I am SICK of hearing people yap incessantly about their personal lives. Either bring party chat back or give me a global mute button.

Oh, one last thing: grenades are virtually useless now. I know they wanted to reduce spam, but in order to get a kill with a grenade it practically needs to go off at the feet of your target. A touch disappointing, since they should be the best way to clear out a camper 3 stories up.

Mouse button? How are you using a mouse button on a console game? :p

One question I do have is regarding camo: I see a lot of players will different types of camo on themselves, not just their weapons. Is your character camo'ed in the same camo type as your weapon, or am I missing something?

I sure hope so, honestly. Seems to be a lot of camping right now.

In my years of online gaming, I have never understood the complaints against campers. It is a valid tactic that only pisses people off because it works if done correctly. IMO, if you can't kill a guy that isn't moving, especially when you're given a kill-cam view, then you only have yourself to be mad at. Spawn camping, however, is a different story, but that's not really an issue here since there isn't a dedicated spawn point.

That wasn't directed at you jbourne, I'm just thinking out loud. :)

Fun playing with you guys for the (I think) 1 full round we managed to do. Right after I left the group I had my best game yet. Went 26-3, found a care package to get a bomb drop, then got the predator, then got an attack helicopter that noone on the other team saw fit to shoot down. I think my KDR is still less than 1 though

They look different depending on what class they have. Each environment has its own ghillie suit as well. Has nothing to do with the camo on your weapon, but has to do with what weapon you chose.

I'm pretty sure your camo depends on what primary weapon you choose. At least it did in COD4

Camping in and of itself doesn't bother me, and yes I agree - it's a valid tactic. But the entire nature of the game changes when everyone camping: it's boring. So I'm not necessarily complaining about the use of it as a valid tactic, I'm complaining about how it shifts the way you have to play the game when everyone's doing it.

And with the way the grenades have been nerfed, your options for dealing with campers are far more limited than they were in MW. In MW, a grenade through the window generally did the trick. Now you need to put it through the window and place it on their big toe.

Speaking of which - When I played 5 rounds or so exclusively with the riot shield, I always watched my deaths on kill cam because a lot of them were funny. Probably 5 times I had a semtex thrown directly onto my shield. Otherwise I was pretty good at keeping them and nades in front of me. I noticed that when it did land on my shield, I died but my teammates behind me didn't.

I'll probably join the rest of you guys tonight. I managed to get one game in last night, but I was hopping around as some of my other friends were just logging on.

I've been pretty much using the RPD and SCAR-H exclusively. I'm using the RPD with the grip on Domination maps, and I rarely have to reload (I usually die before I reload). For TDM, I usually use the SCAR with Holo and the scavenger perk. I've been getting some nice killstreaks, more than I've ever gotten in COD4. Got my k/d ratio up to almost 1.3, not bad. :)

jbourne, i agree with teh whole veritcalness of this game. the one level that i really dislike partially because of that is quarry. that is probably my least favorite map. i'm starting to enjoy estate more however, but i didnt like it initially because of the verticalness of it.

thankfully most of the maps arent like that.

getbush, one of my matches last night, the final kill was on somebody who had a riot shield and got sticky naded lol. it was hilarious to watch it in slow motion. the nade stuck to the front of the shield and the camera slowly rotated around him as the nade blew up and he went flying.

Hmm, well this is bullshit. I ordered the game through Amazon and chose the free shipping. With Forza 3, this meant it shipped via slow mail on the release date, and I got it the Monday after release. I figured I can wait an extra week to play this game; I have other games to play anyway and it's not worth the $7 or whatever they charge for release day shipping.

Well my copy hasn't even shipped yet. It said the estimated ship date was Nov. 16th (this coming Monday). With Forza 3, it gave the estimated ship date as Monday, November 2nd, which ended up being the day I got it. But MW2 hasn't even shipped yet. And I just noticed that they have a separate estimated delivery date now of November 23rd to December 1st! I know MW2 was a much bigger release than Forza 3, but this is ridiculous. I figured they'd at least put it on the slow boat to me within a day or two of the official release, but now they're waiting an entire week to even send it out? Grr.

What really ticks me off is I used my $10 FM3 gift card to order MW2, and I'm guessing if I cancel my order I won't get it anymore (nor will I have the $20 MW2 gift card Amazon is offering). So if I were to cancel my Amazon order and buy from Gamestop instead, I'd basically be losing $30, possibly in addition to the return shipping cost (since they say I can't cancel my order because it's "shipping soon").

Sorry, weak rant. Go back to enjoying MW2. I'll just play more Forza.
