There's also the problem that there's a huge mass of the player base that is already really, really good at the game. I can see it being really hard for new people to jump in without taking a savage beating for quite some time while they get up to speed. Single player does not really prepare you for multi in this game.

This is the biggest problem with casuals who can't seem to do well online. MW2 controls exactly the same as MW1, so lots of people have played this game for 2 years, then simply walked into new maps. Although there are a lot of new additions, nothing really changed for the most part. Just depends on how much you want to die before you learn the play style and speed.

So the only gun I'm decent with right now is the RPD with Grip, Sleight of Hand Pro, and Stopping Power. With anything else, I end up at 1:4 K/D :p

I took an RPD off a dead body last night, and I loved the heartbeat sensor that the guy had on it. I unlocked the M4 heartbeat sensor in the last game I played with the other ATCG guys, so I think I'll be using that tonight.

I'm sucking it up at this game. I played MW1 for the past two years religiously, but I'm still doing awful in this one.

I blame it on my unfamiliarity with the new maps.

So anyone using the knife lob it over some obstructions by mistake thinking you were throwing a nade? Happened to me a few times when I forgot I had it setup with a particular gun.

I think IW wants to add an online stat website - though I'm not sure what's happening with that.

I also think I'm going to get Nuke and AC-130 as my next two KS items. I know I hit a 25 kill streak at least twice last night (I'll confirm this tonight when I get on) or at least got really close.

My biggest suggestion is, for those of y'all who are "new" - play Headquarters for awhile. Not because it gives the most XP (which it doesn't anymore) but it puts you in this mentality of just getting to the objective - no matter what the cost. During most of my games last night, I'd suck for a few respawns, and then just go into ass kicking mode. I honestly don't care about my ratio - so I'm not worried about dying. The game is fast paced, and if you treat it like a tactical game - you will get your ass kicked, a lot.

Also, I'd have to say that bling is the most worthless damn perk. I love the concept, but since you don't always refill your ammo from ANY M4 or TAR21, etc. then you can run out rather quickly. Also, the iron sights do kick ass now - I really hated them in the last game.

Oh, and since they fixed the respawn system - what good is juggernaut? I don't even use the damn thing by the time I find someone now.

Yeah it's pretty lame. But stealing the other guy's class is just as lame, and those are the only two choices I have so far so... yeah that sucks. I actually got 1000 xp because someone landed a bomb or something next to me right after I spawned, and I absorbed enough damage to die if I hadn't had the deathstreak bonus.

wtf bling is an awesome perk, it deals with having 2 addons to your weapons.

maybe you have the names mixed up with another one?

Maybe that's all there is to it. I'm just a noob. :p

Most of Perk Slot 3 seems pretty useless. The only one I think I'll ever use is ninja.

I loved dead silence in COD4, not many people used it because they would pick martyrdom or deep impact. Hopefully not too many people use it now because I listen to footsteps a lot

Just beat the single player on recruit in 5 1/2 hours. It appears I'm a bit slower than some :). I really liked everything, and IW seems to be able to write a nice story and set pieces, but they can't tell that story worth shit. Of course, it was the same way in MW1, too, so I really didn't expect anything different.

I really liked the locales, but they don't give you any time whatsoever to enjoy it and look around. You're always being rushed to the next objective. Lots of problems, but it was still entertaining. I feel like IW is pretty close to Kojima in being able to heighten scenes with entertaining and interesting cinematography, but unlike Kojima, IW decides to try and tell the story through com conversations that are happening while you're fighting. You hear them talking, but you can't understand what they're saying, nor do you have time to stop and read the subtitles because you're too busy trying to stay alive.

Knowing maps is the most important thing in any FPS, IMO.

Someone with medium skill who knows map > Someone with good skill who does not know map

I'm going to give Scrambler a shot. Unfortunately it has a downside - if you scramble their radar, they know you're near them. That helped me get a kill today. I'll see how it goes. Maybe the n00bs won't put 2 and 2 together. ;)

If anyone is playing tonight, feel free to send me an invite.

Just played like 3 1/2 hours of CTF with some friend, MAN that's alot of fun! I was so close to getting the challenge for having a 10-1 kill ratio as well, with under a minute left I was 35-3. I got killed, killed someone, got killed, and killed someone to end up 37-5. Amazingly the heartbeat sensor isn't as much as a dominating attachment as I thought it would, although that may be because so few people use it (maybe they've not unlocked it?).

The only weapons I've used much thus far are the M4A1 and SCAR-H. I unlocked the Tar-21 but I don't like it as much as either of the other two assault rifles.

Oh, and Pave Low = best killstreak bonus I've used thus far.

If you just got there for the first time, wait until you go back after a certain scene "up there". Might want to keep a change of pants ready.

Indeed

Single player has been fun. I've had more fun so far than I've had in COD4 SP.

I have played some more of the sp campaign, have to admit the game moves a little too fast for me. Hard to take in the graphics and read the text little alone hear it. Would be nice to explore a little and take up good spots for sniping or have vantage points.
