Playing on veteran with the advanced control setup. Took me a little while to get used to it but it's really smooth now.

I forgot EB Games/Gamestop did pre-orders, I rarely buy stuff on release day there. I have a $45 GC saved up just for today. I walk in, the clerk goes "what, you didn't reserve it?" with an elitist attitude like I was a dumb#$@ or something. I just shrugged and left, walked into best buy that had their 7 or so copies at 8:50pm tonight. I'm just sorry they have $45 of my money still.

but to the game... pretty fun. I'm not quite used to the whole lock targeting.. the red crosshair I focus on too much so I don't know where I'm really shooting, heh. grappling is a bit annoying, I'd like to be able to grapple the boxes :) The only other thing I wish I could do is quick 180's.. or I just haven't figured it out. I'm impressed with the controls, but I think they could have done more still... I thought I could adjust the actual sensitivity, not just pick between three modes. I can't seem to dodge quite as well as if I were keyboard mousing, but it sure beats analog aiming IMO.

I'm sorry but I just do not like this game and it's mainly because of the control. I just cannot get into it. Everything just feels like a chore to me. I've tried all the control setups and everything.

I think a lot of it is that I'm lefty and just no matter how I hold the controller it does not feel natural at all.

Picked it up on lunch today along with some component cables. Looking forward to playing it on the 42" at some point tonight. After rearranging my living room last week, I still have to run the surround speaker wires under the floor, let alone hook all the other speakers back up.

Looking forward to it! And OP, I think it's now time to make this the "Official" MP3 thread....semi doesn't cut it any longer :).

this game is totally a disappointment. The graphics were the same as the GC with a few small better lighting effects. :/. Did I mention it got an 8.5 no GS, the only site that matters?

Also, the controls are lame. I dont' want to do 4 motions to get my visor up. And no autoshoot sucks because if you are swarmed with enemies, it's frustrating. My arm also started to get sore after 15 minutes but I guess that is something you have to build up.

People said the graphics in Zelda were good and I wasn't that impressed....might rent this one first.

nothing has good graphcis on the wii. Don't hold your breath for anything better than Zelda to come along.

Those were really really terrible quality videos. The quality of the graphics in metroid comes from the smoothness of the framerate (rock solid 60fps) and the art design, which just werent well shown off in those crappy trailers.

ya right. This is no better than MP2.

Like turning in this game is just annoying. I found myself turning a lot more than I wanted to, it was getting frustrating.

The whole time I was playign i Just wanted a normal dual analog controller instead of the wiimote. And it's kind of lame the way you open some doors where you pull, turn, push ... because every door so far I've opened has had the same exact pattern. It just felt tacked on.

Also being left handed doesn't help at all, because I'm used to moving my character around with my left hand (left analog stick on most controllers) and aiming with my right hand (right analog on most controllers), however using this setup and pointing with my right arm just felt weird. THen trying to do it the other way didn't feel natural because I was doing everything opposite than I'm used to.

I'm going to give it another go though and see if I can get drawn into it. As of now I can't.

 i'm also a lefty.

If all you care about is texture resolution and HD, then no, I suppose it doesnt have good graphics. But you have no taste. MP3 is beautiful...some parts of it have made my jaw drop.

sure but so did MP2. All I am saying is that they could have made this for GC without a doubt.

I guess, if you've only played FPS's on a console, you will never appreciate how FPS's were truly meant to be played.

No autoshot=suck=you have no skill

It definitely looks much better than either of the gamecube MP games. I don't know what you're smoking over there.

I'm curious to hear other people's opinion on the controls. I'm actually starting to like it, other than the Z targeting.. can't quite get the hang of it yet. But then again, the last FPS i *REALLY* sat down and played was Q3A... and that was mostly rocket arena :)

I do agree the visor usage isn't ideal, but it doesn't distract me enough. And the whole door opening thing aka load times.. that is annoying.

Overall, I'm liking the controls more as I play along. Far more than dual analog. As much as I hate it, I may have to get used to it because an xbox360 is the only way for me to play bioshock, heh.

So it is complete...at 100% item collection as well. Slightly disappointed at the ending (it was missing a certain something, but I dont wanna spoil it for anyone), but in the end, it's a masterpiece. Few games have immersed me so deeply, and if this game doesnt win best art direction for the year it would be complete robbery. I can only imagine how much more I'd have been blown away if it was in HD, but even lacking that, it has some of the best graphics I've ever seen. The attention to detail really made the game and sucks you in. The fact that they pulled it off on a Wii is amazing.

The biggest complaint I have about the game is that now I'll never see MP1 and MP2 in the same way again because MP3 topped them in just about every area. (Crosses fingers for Wiimake)

My favorite game, ever.

Wow, that was fast? How long? Considering you have a wii, you won't have a more favorite game that much is clear.

Some of the best graphics? Have you checked out the 360/ps3 yet?

No sir, they don't. :)

Also, the controls aren't hard at all. Point..and shoot.

I love the controls, and so do a lot of the reviewers. I do agree that the minus button is a but out of reach for heated situations, but it has yet to bother me.

Also the delayed door opening is a bit annoying...

Still, this is easily the best 3d Metroid game.

About 17 hours.

And yes, it has some of the best graphics ever. I used to have a 360 (it collected dust).

Gears of war (arguably the best gfx on the 360) was very technically impressive, and artistically impressive at times, but like most 360 games, it was more about looking realistic than about looking beautiful. The environments in MP3, especially as you get further into the game, are jaw dropping. The beginning it bland compared to the later parts. I cant think of many other games where I actually stop and look around to admire the scenery.

I got mine today and played it for an hour or so. Placed it on advanced controls since everyone said do. Kinda tough to aim precisely in heated situations, but fun so far. Just got to Norion.

Depends on your idea of art. Some ppl like gritty environments, some like colors and hues (MP). Nothing is really that jaw dropping. TP was pretty beautiful, so is Starfox adventures. That's pretty much the only game I stopped to admire the scenery.

Last time I checked Halo 3 has some pretty impressive art direction.
