I've got a female vanguard going right now, but in hindsight I probably have should have gone Adept because now I cant use Singularity. Yep, I got the achievement. Fairly easy 50 points, but quite entertaining. I hope they dont make us wait too long till the next DLC.

I have a male infiltrator for my second play through, which I'm regretting because the sniper rifle suuucks! I should have just done soldier to get all of the weapon achievements. I like the shotgun and pistol, but I already used them plenty my first time around as vanguard.

Sniper rifle just sucks when you are at a low level. Once you get the accuracy bonuses, it is a beast - especially the Spectre sniper with explosive rounds. It basically becomes a rocket launcher.

Hmm, I'll have to try that. I love the explosive rounds! I swear I have my sniper ability nearly maxed out, though. Maybe not.

I love the sniper rifle. To me it's the most useful weapon in the game. Remember to use the RB to freeze time; aim; release RB; fire. Works like a charm.

Ooh, crispy! ;)

Well that was fun. I would definitely take a few of these over the dozens of copy/pasted side missions they originally gave us. Even if they just added some dialog interactions (a few have this, but not many) to the original side missions they would be infinitely better and have more meaning.

If I really need pr0n, I've got the interwebs... plus, I already had my female Shepard get it on with the Consort, which I didn't have happen the first time around with my male Shepard. Maybe that particular alien is more into the ladies, or more into the renegades.

I think the consort is more into renegades. I think you have to ask her "Is that all?" after she gives you the Prothean object. Then you get the consort "sex" scene - which is pretty lame IMO.

Pretty much straight out of Titanic.

Alright, I'm up to just before Benezia now and I've gotta say that even on this difficulty (Hardcore I think its called, right below the highest), the game gets almost laughably easy. I'm level 43 after hitting up all the side quests that I could, I've got one of the Spectre gear Shotguns and even as a Vanguard, I'm plowing through EVERYONE with just that shotgun. I only step back and use my biotics to make it more fun... nothing like levitating a group of guys when there's no roof :)

Oh, and I've heard several people talk about monkeys, where the heck are the monkeys?

After I bust up Benezia, I'll have to tackle this! I want to see robomonkeys!

I thought it was worth the $5. There are a few dialogue situations that make it worth replaying two or three times to see what happens, and it is very unique compared to the other side missions. Plus, you get to fight against an entirely new race (and new sentry guns, as well).

EDIT: It lasts about 90 minutes, and is comparable to the main quests in terms of story/dialogue.

I just borrowed ME from a friend and wanted to put my $0.02 in. Rather than make YAMET, I'm bumping this 5 months old one :)

Anyway, I've played about 15 hrs and I've been doing as many of the side quests as possible, so I don't think I'm that far in the main quest (been to novaris, looking for Liara). While, I think this whole universe they've created is great and the main story sounds good, I have some gameplay gripes. A few of these have been mentioned throughout the thread and none of them are major, but taken together they leave me very disappointed with this game.

First of all, it seems like no one bothered to play test the game. Because seriously, after an hour with the game how can you not come to the conclusion that the inventory system SUCKS. Especially when you're buying and selling, they just throw everything into an unorganized list! Given that you can pick up a pretty significant amount of items along the way, I spend like half an hour at merchants trying to figure out what to unload and what to keep.

While we're on the topic of inventory, when you're on the Normandy and you want to access crew inventory you have to access their lockers individually?! Give me a break! Why can't I flick through them with the right and left triggers? Come on, one play through the game and every tester should've suggested changes to the inventory system.

The frame rate is occasionally terrible. I think this is self explanatory.

Level design sucks. Except for a few spots, such as in the citadel, most places seems pretty bland. To be fair of course, I haven't played the whole game, so maybe things will get better. Oh, except for the layout of the mercenary camps on the minor planets and the terrain on the minor planets, I'm pretty sure I know EXACTLY what they all look like. And, whoever thought 30 second elevator rides was a good idea should die.

They also need to find new animators for Shepard and a new voice actor for him. Because as it is now, he's a freak'n robot. His voice is completely monotone, and the only different facial expression he has is the raising of his eyebrow.

Clicking through dialog is f'd up. I, obviously, read way faster than the voice dialog so in cases of unimportant dialog, I like reading the subtitles and clicking through with the x button. Except, the x button ALSO happens to work to select dialog options, and the dialog options doesn't wait for the voice to finish before appearing. So what happens is, while I'm clicking x, the options will pop up and I'll inadvertently click some dialog option. It's probably just me, but I find this annoying as hell.

Like I said, none of the gripes individually are big, but taken together it's like being poked with a thousand needles. I'll still play through the game and all the side quests because I'm a sucker for interesting stories, but I'll be suffering the entire way through it :/

Someone mentioned in an earlier post that ME could pass as Kotor 1.5. I completely agree. IMO, KOTOR ~= Jade Empire ~= ME. The only thing different about these games is the combat system. Otherwise they're all exactly the same. You gather a party, travel in some vehivle from area to area. In between areas you talk to your party, learn their backstory and romance one or two of them. It's not a bad gameplay mechanic, but it just seems like bioware should try something different. As it is, I'm expecting Dragon Age to be KOTOR 1.51. I'm just saying...

Though I have the GTA4 DLC, Dangerous Creatures, and Dawn of War 2 waiting for me--I just had to play some ME after watching the teaser trailer for the sequel.

I decided to play on Hardcore as an Paragon Infiltrator. The dificulty is definitely apparent. I decided to tackle the DLC (Bringing Down the Sky) for the first time and I think doing so right after getting out of the Citadel was a little mistake. Man it was tough--but you know what? If was a good time and it never felt cheap. The main room that the final fight takes place in was masterfully built for a huge firefight.

Damn I love this game, this is my 5th playthrough.

I'm looking forward to the supposed second DLC release (you know, the fight club casino arena space station). I have two achievements left (Power Gamer, and Asari Ally) which I've been saving for a 4th/5th playthrough to revisit the game closer to the release of ME2. New DLC would be a great excuse to go back and visit.

Amidst all the furor of E3, I missed this tidbit about the second DLC for Mass Effect, though there's not much info here. At least they say it is still coming!

Second Mass Effect DLC Details Coming Soon
Andy Chalk posted on 5 Jun 2009 12:57 pm

Through the sound and fury of E3 comes news that the second DLC for Mass Effect will be announced soon.

BioWare bosses Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka told Joystiq that the second piece of downloadable content for Mass Effect would be "announced and detailed soon," and in fact Muzyka said he'd actually been playing it at the BioWare offices before coming to E3.

What the upcoming DLC will actually include is largely unknown, although it was described in a Future of Mass Effect video as a "casino/gaming/Fight Club space station" with much more focus on combat than story. There's also been no word on whether the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the update will release simultaneously; PC gamers had to wait four months longer than their console-owning brethren for the first DLC release, Bring Down the Sky, but then ended up getting it free, which struck me as a pretty fair deal.
