Only played about 5 hours, but really enjoying it so far. I do not like having to flip the controller for an attack, I can see people doing like the Wii and hitting their TV's. There needs to be an option for a simple button press instead of a wrist flip.

There are really so many things I like about it, and very few I don't. I probably enjoy the most going back to 2D for a short duration. Its easy to pick up and put back down, don't have to spend a long time in each gaming session. Playing with my son if fun too, except I need another Pro controller it seems. We've both gotten used to it.

Playing in mobile mode and trying to do motion moves is ridiculous. Anyone have any tips here besides giving up on getting it? Lol

I got to New Donk City and finished it this morning and I have to say, it's my least favorite level in the game. I think I'm in the minority because it seems like most people enjoy that world the most out of them all, but I'm just not feeling it. I don't like the vertical'ness of the level and I'm not a fan of all the people dressed up like it's the 1930's. I also don't like the music really.

I kind of had an opposite reaction. I went into it not very excited, but I ended up enjoying the level quite a bit.

That's awful. And it's pretty apparent they aren't going to patch out motion controls since it's pretty built into the control scheme and they have in game tutorials for new moves and stuff :(

Yeah, they're obviously committed to the platform & don't want to make themselves look bad by disabling it, especially on their flagship Mario game, but if they'd at least offer alternative methods, that'd be cool.

Motion controls is one of those things that really depends on the game, or even the platform. Like, my Vive VR system is absolutely amazing with motion controls, couldn't do it without it. But there's also a, uh, barrier to playing VR games vs. just flunking down on the couch & playing a controller game...I don't have to move or put on a headset like I do with VR, it's much more approachable, especially at the end of the day when you're in low-energy mode and just want to chill.

I actually thought it was the last world, and was very happy to see there are quite a few after it as well. I literally played for like 5 hours today on a train lol.

See, for me, I think that's the coolest part...you can take it with you, and it's not just limited to being an Apple or Android tablet with maybe limited controller support...it's real games with nice controllers & full controller support.

I would have killed for something like this on long car rides as a kid, haha. For some reason my parents never let us get Gameboys, so we kids pretty much just fought the whole way anytime we took trips anywhere :D

Just "finished", and when I mean finished I mean I beat the story. Very awesome but so much more to collect. I want to unlock so much more stuff. Unfortunately I am going to come back to it later, need to play Wolfenstein 2.

Yeah, there's a LOT of post-game content. A lot of people in other forums claim that's where the real challenge is. I beat the game too and am starting to collect all the moons, but I may have to step a way for a bit for a change of pace.

I think this is the best review of anything I've ever seen. Also, now I understand why people like the music - the soundtrack at 4:00 is fantastic! Language warning:

Wow. The controls & more complex moves are going to take some getting used to, haha. Seems like one of those games where you have to build your skills up & then turn those moves into habits to get through certain parts.

Played it all weekend. It's incredible. I'm getting every moon I can on each stage before I move on to the next. There's like a group at the bottom of each list that I'm pretty sure you can't obtain until you come back later, though. I'm finding Toad even more adorable than I thought possible. The thing he says in Metro City when you find him melted my heart.

Tried out the co op mode over the weekend. My daughter loved flying around as Cappy. Had a few untimely deaths due to Cappy not being around when I needed him but hey I can't complain when the kids are having fun. Still made it through the world so it all worked out.

Can you have multiple games running? Does starting the game up under a different player profile create a separate game?

It does. Each profile can hold 5 saved games.

Finished it tonight and wow what an incredible game. After you beat the main story, the game is far from over. The location they drop you in immediately after finishing the game is one of my favorite levels in the game. I just spent 2 hours in it after beating the story of it. I won't spoil it but it's incredible and brings me way back. Then after that, even more unlocks. I can see myself playing this game for a long time.

It's really one of the most fun games in recent memory tbh

I tried playing until half time last night but I couldn't put it down and when I went up the game was over. Time flew by!

Can't stop playing this game. My wife was surprised I wasn't watching football last night lol

But I'm having major sync issues playing with separated joy-cons. I've got 4 pairs and experience it with all of them. Sitting like 8 feet away from my Switch and jumps aren't registering on the right, and Mario will not stop running after I let go of the stick on the left. Clearing the line of sight (putting my recliner down) makes it work a bit better it seems, but I pretty much had to move my chair right in front of the TV, within 3 feet, to prevent it from happening completely. It's a real problem.

That's really weird. Do you have anything that would interfere in the same room? Wireless router, wireless phone system, wireless speaker? Nintendo has an interference list:

Yup, Mario is so fun. It literally makes you feel good while playing it.

You know, I didn't really like Mario 64 at all, just was never a big fan. My family loved Galaxy I & II, but it wasn't until Odyssey that I've fallen in love with 3D Mario myself. We're playing the high tower on the sand level right now & the graphics are fun, all the little things you can do are fun, the animations are fun..cracks me up when he sits there & shivers by the ice haha.

I played again for 2 more hours tonight. Time flies by playing this damn game. I'm over 300 moons now probably around like 340 or 350. They are still as fun to find as they were on day 1.

I'm up around like 450 moons now. I played my Switch in portable mode last night while watching TNF until it literally died in my hands. Mario is extremely addicting to me trying to collection the moons.
