No, it's the Mario 64 sequel everyone has been asking for.Just kidding.
Is it the Galaxy sequel everyone has been asking about?
I read that the disable motion controls in the options is for disabling the motion camera controls. I thought the same thing as you at first but then had to Google it to figure that out.No, it's the Mario 64 sequel everyone has been asking for.
I also agree 100% with the people in the other thread about motion controls. Why is it that I disabled motion controls in the settings, yet you still have to do them to do certain moves, and they still work in game? It's like that setting simply does nothing.
I'd say that is my only con of the game this far. It's extremely disappointing that they keep trying to force these stupid motion controls on people, especially since there is now like 4 different ways to play this game from a control standpoint.
That's awful. And it's pretty apparent they aren't going to patch out motion controls since it's pretty built into the control scheme and they have in game tutorials for new moves and stuffI read that the disable motion controls in the options is for disabling the motion camera controls. I don't mind the swimming controls at all personally. It's not as precise and dynamic as Mario 64 for sure, but I kind of like that it's basically an homage to the classic Mario swimming controls.
Game is fantastic though. I can definitely see myself playing it after I beat the story to go back and try to collect more of the moons, if not all of them. It's just really fun to go around the levels. The level design in this game is just perfect for the most part so far.
Yeah I don't think there is any "dive down" button but I know what you mean. You can however keep ground pounding when you are in the water sinking, and it makes you sink faster. I figured that one out when I did the first timer challenge on the lake level. My biggest issue is that I haven't found an easy way to dive under the surface. It's like Mario automatically floats unless I ground pound or jump in from some height. Once I'm underwater I can handle the controls, but I can't find a "dive down" button. Am I just missing it?
Anyway, I've poked around on reddit some more and everyone seems to agree that the "end game" is where the real fun begins. Basically the story is fairly easy to get through, but the fun is figuring out how to traverse the levels with all of mario's moves to get to different areas and collect every moon. I haven't got that good yet, so the videos I've seen posted on getting to some of these areas just blow my mind. I'm going to have to try a lot harder.
Then seeing how many moons some of these levels have is like HOLY SHIT!
This might be my GOTY. Loving it so much, despite the motion controls (seriously, with so many redundant buttons, why couldn't they have done us a favor and bound some/most of the motion controls to the actual buttons?).
Persona is on my list to play. This year has been a really awesome year for great games. But for me it's Zelda.I think Persona 5 is still a better game for me.
