It's widely known to be one of the worlds best, and most expensive, Japanese restaurants. Never been there, WAY to expensive.

nobu is one of the world's best? and most expensive? HAHAHAHA

😉

Nobu = wolfgang puck of japanese cuisine; good, usually great, but not best in the world.

Whatever... it was a joke anyway. If I were really going to pick a nice restauarant for something like that I'd of course research it.

everyone knows PF Chang's is the best high-end authentic asian food..................................

I know you're kidding, but I went to PF Chang's once and everything just tasted like vinegar. It was gross and I will not be returning. D:

The problem as Yates so succinctly put it is that:

The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity

If the younger generation, the academics, the intelligent out there actually had the drive and conviction of the right wing, the nut jobs and the teaparty goers election results would be markedly different.

You're just a bitter loser. You thought the majority was on your side and you've realized today that, not only are they smarter than you, but that your loser lifestyle is not envied.

I've said for two weeks that I was pretty sure this was going to fail.
Hell, it's even early in this thread.

the funny thing, is you continue to have this fundamental disconnect between majority and majority vote.

You simply don't understand the actual issues here. And you don't care to. That's fine--just don't waste your time pretending that you know what you're talking about.

it is laughable.

Fuck... Yes, right.

What? Not gonna blame it on one of your infamous typos?

😛

In this case, the difference between majority and majority vote doesn't matter. ONLY the number of voters matters. If the majority of people who supported Prop 19 didn't vote...then they forfeited their right to have a say in the matter.
Since the MAJORITY of people who bothered to vote, voted NO, that implies a majority.

Not surprising. Chain American Chinese Bistro doesn't exactly inspire confidence from the get go. Of course we are spoiled here in Vancouver when it comes to Chinese food. I don't think you are much of a connoisseur of authentic Chinese food, are you?, but block for block there's more good Chinese food here in Vancouver than pretty much anywhere else in North America except some hot spots like maybe New York and or San Fran. The few times I've taken trips to the more rural parts of BC and the US have yielded horrible Chinese food, my mother has to eat at whatever Chinese restaurant we can find no mater how bad it is when we are on holiday 🙁.

BoomerD, when part of the marijuana community jumps ship because they <3 their profit margins and don't want to see their "easy" 5k+ a week go bye bye.

yes, i agree.

Narmer is arguing that the majority has spoken--the majority being non-smokers.

We pointed out to him that a LOT of people that smoke regularly either voted no (because their suppliers convinced them to), or simply didn't vote, because they are young, and never vote. Or they don't smoke, and simply didn't show up, but likely would have voted yes. (based on polling)

Many of the preliminary polls, and some rather experienced pollsters and election predictors thought that while it was shown to be behind, this could be a surprise win, as it's an issue people don't like to admit that they support. Also, the numbers indicate that the lackluster youth turnout doomed it. The support among youth, had they actually voted would have made this a win. The margin being relatively low.

Now--here's the crux of the argument (i know narmer is too feeble to grasp this, but i know you can): had this been a win for prop 19--it still would not have been a majority voice. Why? holy hell--I have never argued that the majority of people out there smoke pot. Not once.
It would simply show that more youth and more people in favor of this support it--whether or not they smoke.

narmer seems to think that's what we are saying, b/c he is an idiot. Had prop 19 passed, would I be telling Narmer that the majority has spoken? no. Would he be complaining that the stoners scared the god-fearing righteous majority people away from the polls (perhaps pointing to the overwhelming push of Democrat wins in the state in support of his argument)?

yes, yes he would.

His argument would still be idiotic, and we would still be correct.

:awe:

In conclusion, narmer is an idiot. Most people can see that.

zin, I haven't seen the numbers of eligible voters who actually voted, but I suspect that, as usual, it was pretty dismal. I agree that regardless of which way things turned out, it wouldn't represent a majority of eligible voters, only a majority of those who cared enough to vote.

I LOL'd at the co-ops and MMJ growers who were against this. Pure greed motivated their opposition...not their "concern for their customers."
